Chapter 3: Bad things happen

Alison's POV
As I walk the halls of my school it feels like everything around me is slowing down and I have the time to pay attention every single detail.
This has been happening for almost a week now.
And that dream, I've been having it for months.
"Hey girl! Where you off to?" My closest friend Celia asks grabbing my arm.
"My sessions." I tell her.
"Pssh, blow it off and come to the lake party with me instead."
"No way, I need this."
"Girl it's your 16th birthday do something fun. You act like such a goodie two shoe at school but I know the truth about you remember."
"Shhh. Don't say it so loud" I cover her mouth with my hand.
"Why hide your badassness? Some guys get turned on by it you know."
"Celia you do know I have a boyfriend right." I give her playful glare.
"Yeah that guy doesn't qualify as a boyfriend."
I give her death glare but she starts pleading with her eyes begging me to give in.
"Okay fine, but only after my session." She starts pouting so I continue." I need this okay."
"Fine, I'll save you some drinks." She says then gives me a side hug and runs off.
Yup, that's Celia for you.
I take a deep breath then enter the councilors office.
"Hey, happy birthday." She smiles pulling out a single cupcake with one candle on it and starts singing happy birthday.
"Thanks mom." I give her a bright smile as I blow out the single candle and take the cupcake.
"Your welcome sweetie. Now let's get into it, your session is only 45 minutes."
"And here I was thinking we would have a mini party together." I joke finishing my cupcake.
"Let's start with that dream you've been having." She pushes a glass of water towards me then grabs her pen and notepad.
"Well this time it was a bit clearer than usual. I could she her but for some reason I just couldn't make out her face. And it's weird because I'm the one leading her to something." I spill my guts about the weird dream to her.
"So what did she look like?"
"Normally we are little kids in the the dream but last night was different."
"Different how?"
Some kids might feel weird talking to their parents about stuff like this but not me and my mom. We share everything honestly. Plus she is a certified srink so why not?
"We were grown up this time."
"And what did she say to you." Her expression suddenly becomes hard.
"Normally she'd be running behind me telling me to slow down, but no matter what I do I just can't so I keep telling her shes too slow. But last night she sped up somehow and caught up to me."
"Really this is new, that means it's time." My mom says with a weird look on her face.
"Time for what?" I ask confused.
"Its time for me to tell you truth about who you really are." She starts digging trough her office for something..
"Mom I already know I'm adopted, you told me 6 years ago. Remember?" I try to remind her.
"There's not enough time to explain everything but your not from here, your from another dimension." She only pasuse to look at me for a second.
"Mom this is crazy. Is this some birthday prank or something?" I ask but get now reply.
"Take this and go find Celia, stay in crowds at all times and don't leave her side. And if anything should happen to her then and only then you should activate this necklace. After that you'll know what to do."
"Mom please stop this crazy talk."
She gives me the longs warmest hig I've ever gotten from her and tears prick my eyes.
"Look there's someone I need to call and it might take awhile so stay next to Celia. This is serious trust no one."
"Mon what is going on? I'm not leaving here until you explain everything." I protest.
"Celia will explain everything, keep your phone on."
I was about to protest when a soft knock sounds on the door.
"Yes who is it." She answers wiping my tears then she mouths 'go now'.
"Its Eric, Mr Brown sent me to you."
She shoves me to the door then opens it swiftly.
"Hi Eric come on in, we were just finishing up here." She nudges me to leave and I feel a strange ora coming off Eric's body.
"Isn't her session supposed to last longer?" He questions while his eyes zone in the necklace.
I instinctively cover it with my hand, then tuck it into my shirt.
"She came early so we finished early. See you at home sweetheart." She blows a kiss my way but every fiber in my body tells me not to go home.
As she closes her office door behind her I take off running through the halls. I pull out my phone and start calling Celia and she picks up on the first ring.
"You ready to roll?" She says in a chirpy tone.
"Pleas tell that this is just a joke or some big mater plan for my birthday." I plead with her.
"I have no idea what your talking about, but I'll come pick you up."
"Im still at school." I'm right around the corner.
Her car soon pulls up and I hop in.
"What's going on with you?" She asks as she drives off to god knows where.
"My mom, she was acting weird."
"Really? Weird how?" She narrows her eyes at me.
Should I tell her, or is all of this a joke? Just a weird birthday prank.
But mom did say to trust Celia. Only Celia.
"She said I'm not who a think I am, that I'm from another universe or something like that."
"Shit." Is the only word she whispers.
"What?"
"What else did she say?"
"She said not to trust anyone."
"You know you can trust me right?" She looks at me with wide hopeful eyes.
That's out of character for her.
" ofcourse, your my best friend."
A sigh of relief leaves her lips, this is so weird. Her behavior is so different, as if she's not herself.
"So where are we going?" I ask and start to feel uneasy.
"To your place ofcourse, why'd you ask?" She let's out a nervous chuckle.
Why do I get the feeling she's not herself. There it is that dark ora like vibe. Just like the one I felt from that Eric guy.
My phone starts buzzing in my pocket so I pull it out.
"Whose that?"
I check my messages and its Eric
"Its just my mom." I lie.
I open the chat to see what she's saying.
'Hey birthday girl where the hell are you? Its Celia btw'
'I'm coming to get you in Eric's car so don't leave school without me.'
'What happened to your car?' I quickly reply.
'I left it along with my phone at school, I'll be too drunk to drive anyways. But I do wanna grab my phone.'
'How can you be Celia when Celia is sitting next to me rn in her car driving.'
I see her typing then the little box disappears.
It must have been some sort of prank.
I suddenly see a call coming in form Eric's phone.
"Hello." I say in a firm voice.
"The person next to you is not me, its someone trying to kill or kidnap you. But please stay calm."
What should I do. Play it cool, blow up, ask her to prove it?
I don't know.
"Yes mom Celia and I are together, and we are behaving."
"You need to ditch that fake and come find me before things get ugly. Don't say a word to it or it will try to kill you." The seriousness in her voice made me scared.
"Hey celia can we go to McDonald's before we head to my place?"
"Sure." It replies and turns in at the intersection.
"Yeah mom I promise we won't go to any parties, what time will you be getting home?"
"Try to ditch it as soon as possible, we're at the Camille'e lake house, the one we went to last summer." Celia on the phone explains.
"We are here." The fake Celia says, at least I think she is.
"Damn the drive through line is long, do mind ordering inside?"
"Nope what can o get ya?"
"I want a big mac, some nuggets and a coke. Here's the cash." I pull out my last fifty dollar bill and hand it to her.
"I'm just gonna hang back and chat with my mom." I lie hoping she'll buy it or whatever she is.
"Isn't she at work?" She asks.
"Yeah she's on a break right now."
"You can walk and talk you know." She's persistent.
"Allison don't go." Celia on the phone warns.
I cover the speaker before speaking, "Do you know how embarrassing that would be if someone heard me talking to my in public." I say rolling my eyes to make it convincing.
"Yeah mom I'm still here." I say into the speaker and she let's out a grunt.
"Fine I'll be back in a bit." She walks off to the McDonald's and I wait for her to go inside before i move over tot he drives seat.
"She gone, she better be the real Celia or I'll kill you."
"Your mom gave you a necklace and told you if anything should happen to me you should activate it. And she told you to trust no one but me right?" She says in one breath.
"How did you?"
"There's a spare set of car keys I the cup holder no speed all the way here and avoid all cops."
"Okay I'm on my way and you better tell me everything when I get there. And our secret word to identify each other is pudding."
"Pudding, really."
I end the call and speed out of the parking lot. I see fake Celia run out of the McDonald's streaming at me.
"I find you no matter where you go!" It screams ir shrieking voice then it whole body changes into a different person.
Holy sh*t I'm dead.
