Blackthorn City never slept. Its towers pierced the clouds, its streets glittered with wealth, and its people worshipped one thing above all else.Power.Not justice. Not kindness. Not love.Power.The powerful wrote the rules. The weak suffered them. And no one understood that better than Vaelora Nyx.At twenty-five, she stood at the peak of an empire built on ambition and fear.People called her many things. The Queen of Blackthorn. The Ice Empress. The Woman Who Never Lost. But behind every title was the same truth.Vaelora Nyx was dangerous.Tonight, she sat at the head of a conference table while twenty executives waited in silence. No one dared speak first. No one dared meet her eyes.A single mistake had cost the company millions.Someone had to pay.A middle-aged executive rose from his seat, sweat covering his forehead."Miss Nyx... please. Give me another chance."The room became still.Vaelora looked up from the file in her hand. Her expression never changed. Her voice was calm."Why?"The man froze."I—""Why should I?"His mouth opened and closed. No answer came.Because there wasn't one.Vaelora closed the file."You're dismissed."Relief flashed across his face. Then she added:"Forever."Security entered immediately. The executive's relief vanished."Please! Please, don't do this!"Nobody moved.Nobody defended him.Because everyone knew the truth.Mercy didn't exist at the top.The guards dragged him out while his desperate voice echoed through the room.Vaelora never looked back.To rule was to be feared. And she intended to rule forever.Across the city, another empire stood beneath the night sky.One built not on fear alone—But destruction.Kaelor Veyn watched the city from the highest floor of his headquarters.Cold eyes overlooked the sea of lights below. On the massive screen behind him appeared a single photograph.Vaelora Nyx.The woman everyone feared. The woman everyone obeyed. The woman standing between him and complete control of Blackthorn City. His fingers tapped against the desk.Slowly.Patiently.Dangerously.Then he smiled. It wasn't a pleasant smile. It was the smile of a predator who had finally found worthy prey."Interesting," he murmured. For years, every rival had fallen.Every enemy had broken.Every obstacle had disappeared. But Vaelora Nyx remained standing. For now.Kaelor picked up the photograph. His gaze lingered on it.Not with admiration. Not with affection. With challenge. The city believed there was room for only one ruler.Soon, Blackthorn would learn the truth. When a queen meets a destroyer...The streets burn.Empires collapse.Blood stains every promise. And love becomes the cruelest weapon of all.Neither Vaelora nor Kaelor knew it yet.But the moment their paths crossed—Blackthorn City would never be the same again.Because monsters do not fall in love. They consume each other.

chapter 1
The morning in Blackthorn City was never gentle. It arrived like a weapon—bright, sharp, and unrelenting—cutting through glass towers and waking a city that never truly rested. At the top floor of Nyx Industries, Vaelora Nyx stood alone. Floor-to-ceiling windows framed the entire city beneath her feet. From here, everything looked small. Cars. People. Even power itself. A knock came at the door. Once. Then silence. It opened without permission. That alone would have been a mistake anywhere else. But not here. Ryven Ashcroft stepped inside. Perfect suit. Calm posture. Eyes that always measured consequences before words. “Council meeting in ten minutes,” he said. Vaelora didn’t turn. “Cancel it.” Ryven didn’t react immediately. He rarely did. “That’s not possible. Three board members are already present. One of them flew in from—” “I said cancel it.” Her voice was quiet. Final. The kind of quiet that ended conversations before they were born. Ryven studied her for a moment. “You’re making enemies again.” Vaelora finally turned. Her gaze was sharp enough to cut through hesitation itself. “I don’t make enemies,” she said. “They volunteer.” A pause. Then Ryven exhaled slightly. “As always.” He turned to leave, then stopped. “There’s something else.” That made her look at him properly. Ryven continued, voice lower. “Kaelor Veyn has entered the city.” The temperature in the room didn’t change. But something in the air did. Vaelora’s expression remained still. Yet her eyes sharpened—just slightly. “Confirmed?” she asked. Ryven nodded. “Within the last twelve hours. His company has already started acquiring assets near your northern sectors.” Vaelora walked toward her desk. Slow steps. Controlled. Precise. “Let him,” she said. Ryven frowned. “That’s not like you.” Vaelora opened a file, scanning it without interest. “No,” she replied. “It’s exactly like me.” She closed the file. Finally looked up. “Tell the board they’re dismissed. Permanently, if they complain.” Ryven didn’t move. “You’re provoking chaos again.” Vaelora walked past him. Her voice dropped slightly. “Ryven… chaos doesn’t need provoking.” A faint pause. “It always finds me.” — Across the city, in a building without a name, Kaelor Veyn stood in a room filled with silence. Screens surrounded him. Data. Markets. People. Everything that could be measured… and broken. Selene Draith leaned against the wall behind him, watching him with quiet fascination. “So that’s her,” she said. Kaelor didn’t answer immediately. On the central screen was Vaelora Nyx. Unmoving. Unshaken. Untouchable. Selene smiled faintly. “She doesn’t look afraid.” Kaelor’s voice came low. “She doesn’t know how.” That made Selene’s smile widen slightly. “You hate her already?” Kaelor stepped closer to the screen. His reflection overlapped hers. “I don’t hate her,” he said. A pause. “I haven’t decided what she is yet.” Selene tilted her head. “And if she refuses to fall?” Kaelor’s eyes darkened slightly. “Everything falls.” — That evening, Blackthorn City experienced something unusual. A silent war. Stock values shifted without explanation. Entire companies changed ownership overnight. Influence networks collapsed like broken glass. And at the center of it all— Two names began appearing in every report. Vaelora Nyx. Kaelor Veyn. Two forces. Two monsters. Two rulers who had never been meant to share a world. But Blackthorn City was not built for peace. It was built for collision. And somewhere beneath its glowing skyline… The first crack began to form.
