Chapter Five
The Pregnancy
Here’s a story told me by a very close-friend.
It concerns Sharon, an acquaintance of hers, who was heavily pregnant when she started to experience severe pains and blood-loss but was able to call for an ambulance before collapsing and waking in hospital.
It was midnight when she arrived at the Maternity Unit and, before passing-out, she felt a hand on her belly and heard the Doctor instructing a Nurse to “…get her onto the table and ready-her for an infusion…we need to save her life and the baby’s…”
Sharon woke the next morning and, gradually, as things came into focus, realised she was in a hospital and saw, first, the Doctor standing by her bed alongside a Nurse and, then, gathering her wits, was able to mouth “Where am I? How is my baby?”
