The Gardener-c*m-Handyman
Brian and Maureen lived alone in a large house with very large gardens. They had no children of their own and, as a very Senior Executive, Brian was finding it hard to devote the time and attention the outsides demanded. There was, also, the fact his interest had waned, along with his energies, and, without enthusiasm, things never get easier.
So, one night, after dinner and several glasses of whisky, they sat in front of the fire and talked: “Darling, the grounds are starting to look pitiful and, I hope you agree, because, although I really love this setting, they’re taking too much time and effort for me to care for them, properly; I wonder how you’d feel if we hired a part-time Gardener; you know, someone to keep things under control?
