Blurb

Eva had always lived in a bubble—sheltered, adored, untouched by the darkness of the world. But when her beloved brother vanished with the company’s funds, he didn’t just leave behind shame—he left the family on the brink of financial ruin. With everything crumbling around her, Eva is forced to step out of her ivory tower and into a world she doesn’t understand. Desperate, vulnerable, and utterly unprepared, she crosses paths with Alan —a man cloaked in power, danger, and deadly charm. Alan, the ruthless mafia billionaire, is drawn to Eva’s innocence like a moth to flame. He offers her a deal she cannot refuse—salvation in exchange for submission. But the price of his protection is higher than she ever imagined. And soon, she finds herself trapped in a twisted dance of power, passion, and control. He wanted her obedience. She wanted to save her family. Neither expected to fall in love. But in Alan’s world, love is dangerous... And the line between obsession and devotion is razor-thin.

BANKRUPTCY
The entire mansion was drowned in dreadful silence. Gbam! The sudden sound of a punch shattered the quiet. “You see the child you’ve raised? He ran away with 10 billion in company funds and left me drowning in debt!” Mr. Whitney slammed his fist onto the table, shattering it into pieces as he glared furiously at his wife. “What a good-for-nothing you’ve raised,” he growled. Mrs. Whitney sat silently, tears streaming down her now pale face. Her lips trembled, but no words came out. Just then, Eva walked in, fresh from shopping. She froze at the door, stunned. Her ears refused to believe what they had just heard. Her brother—the one who had always pampered her, protected her, loved her, cared for her —he couldn’t have done such a thing. Her mind went blank. She didn’t know how to react. With heavy steps, she walked toward her parents, her voice barely above a whisper. “Dad, is it true? Did Brother really leave with all the company funds?” “That brother… he left with all the company’s funds and abandoned us in debt,” Eva choked out, her voice cracking under the weight of betrayal. Mr. Whitney sighed deeply, running a weary hand over his face as he looked at his angelic-looking daughter. She was trembling, her eyes red and filled with disbelief. “Don’t worry, princess,” he said softly. “We’ll handle it. Go to your room and get some rest.” But Eva didn’t move. She stood rooted to the spot, tears streaming endlessly down her beautiful face. “Mom… Dad… please, don’t treat me like a child anymore. I deserve to know what’s going on!” she cried. “Brother… how could he do this to us? No! I have to call him. I don’t believe it—not until I hear it from him!” Her parents watched silently, helplessly, as Eva fumbled with her phone, dialing his number over and over again. Each attempt only deepened the cracks in her breaking heart. “No… Brother… why?” she sobbed uncontrollably, collapsing to the ground. Her mother knelt beside her, pulling her into a tearful embrace. “Don’t cry, princess…” she whispered, though her own tears flowed freely. The once-grand mansion, now heavy with sorrow, echoed with the anguished cries of mother and daughter. A scene of pure heartbreak. Suddenly, Mrs. Whitney began to hyperventilate, her breathing shallow and erratic. “Mom?! What’s happening? Dad! Please, come check on Mom!” Eva screamed, panic seizing her voice. Mr. Whitney rushed in just in time to catch his wife as she fainted in his arms. “Eva, go bring the car keys! We need to get her to the hospital now!” Eva sat in the hospital corridor, staring blankly at the cold, tiled floor. Her father was inside the doctor’s office, speaking in hushed tones she couldn’t make out. Her thoughts were in shambles, her heart in pieces. She didn’t even realize the tears still flowing silently down her face. “Evvie… Evvie, are you okay?” The familiar voice pulled her from her daze. She turned slowly to find Anna, her best friend, standing there with concern written all over her face. Eva had called her to inform her that her mom was rushed to the hospital. “Anna…” she whispered, her voice breaking. “Thank God you’re here. I’m losing my mind!” Eva threw her arms around Anna and sobbed into her shoulder. “My brother… he ran away with the company’s money. He left us in debt, Anna! And now Mom is in the hospital too… Why is all this happening to my family?” Anna held her tightly, gently rubbing her back. “Shhh… calm down, Evvie. Everything’s going to be alright, I promise.” They both sat down, Eva collapsing onto the bench once again as Anna remained by her side, still comforting her. “We’ll sort it out somehow,” Anna said softly, trying to sound reassuring. But Eva shook her head, pain and frustration thick in her voice. “Annie, you’re not understanding. The Whitney Company… as big and influential as it was, it stepped on too many toes to get to the top. We made enemies—powerful ones. Now that we’ve fallen, no one wants to help us. The stock has crashed. We’re already on the verge of bankruptcy. No one… no one is coming to our rescue.” Anna hesitated for a moment before speaking. “What if… I talk to my dad? Maybe he could pull some funds together to help.” “No. No, you won’t do that,” Eva interrupted quickly. “You and your family have your own problems, Anna. I won’t drag you into ours.” She looked away, fresh tears glistening in her eyes. Anna reached for her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “We’ll figure something out, Evvie. I promise. You’re not alone in this.” “Thank you so much, Annie,” Eva hugged Anna gently and whispered in her ear. “Princess, princess,” Mr. Whitney called out. Eva stood up and answered him, “Yes, Daddy.” “Good day, Mr. Whitney,” Anna greeted. Mr. Whitney returned her greeting and then led them to the hospital room where Eva’s mom was resting. When they got to the room, Eva rushed to sit beside her mother, whose face looked pale. “Mom, are you okay?” Mrs. Whitney squeezed a small smile as she gazed at her beautiful daughter. “Yes, princess. Mama is feeling much better. And how are you, Anna?” “I’m good, ma. I can’t wait for you to get better so I can eat your home-cooked omelet,” Anna said, grinning cheekily, making Mrs. Whitney burst into splendid laughter. “Don’t worry, kid. I’ll definitely make lots of good dishes for you.” “I trust you, Auntie,” Anna said with a big grin. Anna and Eva stayed in the ward for a while, chatting with Mrs. Whitney. Her complexion had already improved a lot. Later, Anna bid her farewell, and Eva escorted her out. As they hugged, Eva whispered softly, “Thanks for always being here for me, Annie.” Anna smiled at her beautiful friend and said cheekily, “Don’t mention it. You’ve always been there for me too, anyway.”
