"I'm sorry about that ,"Jesse apologizes in a gruff voice when he comes back.
" Of course ,"I smile politely even though I'm seething inside with the events that happened today. She knows something about him and she was about to spill everything.What is he hiding from me? I can feel my wolf's confusion as well but she doesn't want to voice it out.
I'm not surprised that he has a girlfriend. I learnt that from the movies I watched with Fawne that rich and powerful men like him always have a girlfriend that they show off infront of the world. It's always about business and connections.It is never about love.
"What did she mean by that ? "I ask impatiently," She said you are hiding something from me and it's clear that you don't want to tell me the truth. "
His jaw tightens and I can tell that something is wrong. He is definitely hiding something from me .
"Whatever she was trying to tell you ,"his mouth twitches," Was a lie ,"
"She -"
"I think you are asking the wrong questions ,"
The wrong kind of questions? What does he mean by that.The sound of his voice leaves no room to refuse. My wolf purrs at the way he speaks and I'm completely moved. Goosebumps form on my skin when I realize how dangerously close he is to me. The way his tall frame overshadows my petite stature. His warm scent engulfs me tightly like a warm blanket.
"What do you mean ? "I murmur.
His blue eyes slightly darken as they lower on my lips for a brief second.My wolf is fighting for control and it's clear that the connection is deeper than I thought. His scent doesn't change but his aura is strong enough to destroy me. What kind of person is he and what is he is doing?
"You know what I mean ,"he whispers in a low deep tone.
My breath hitches when he tilts my chin and slowly brings my face closer to his. Every second feels like something I have never felt before.I can hear the sound of my heart pounding as it slams against my rib cage.
"I don't-,"I whisper.
His gaze darkens as his face slowly descends on my face.A shiver crawls up my spine as his warm breath fans my face. I don't know what's going on and the subject of the conversation is long forgotten. My eyes are involuntary closed while his lips gently brush mine. My legs clench tightly and spark tingle on my lips as he continues to brush his lips on mine.
" I need to go !" I snap my eyes open and pull back from me .
Jesse's face hardens at my sudden action but I'm not ready for this again.I agreed to this contract because I believe I need the money to help my sister.The connection between us feels like the mate bond and it's confusing.
"Go back to mate ,"my wolf whines but I shake my head like I'm going crazy.
"Where do you need to go ? "He asks he grabs my arm before I run away from him.
My skin feels like it's on fire and my lips are burning. There's no doubt that he is my mate but I don't know what his intentions are and what he is hiding from me. I quickly compose myself and shrug like it's not big deal
"it's non of your business,"I splutter," besides Don't you have a company to run? ,"
"I will take you there ,"he insists without letting of my arm.
"Are you crazy ? "I ask incredulously.
"You are mine ,"he says gently ,"And I don't want to lose sight of what's mine ,"
The word mine makes my wolf purrs and my insides melt. he possessive tone behind the word makes the hair in my skin rises
"I don't belong to you ,"I grit my teeth ," I belong to myself"
He spins me until my spine is flush against his hard chest ,"It doesn't matter what you say to me because you are mine ," he whispers in my ear.
" I will be waiting for you while you dress up,"he says while he lets me go.
Jesse comfortably grabs a stool and sits like nothing just happened.The way he commanded me and the time of his voice left no room for questions. He will make sure that I don't defy him ain anyway.
"Fine ,"my shoulders sag," I will be back in a few minutes,"
"Take your time ,"he smirks ," I don't mind waiting for a long time,"
I ignore him and proceed to shower and change into something more casual. The air is chilly today,so I decide to out on some simple warm,which is a short gray pleated skirt , a turtle green shirt and a cardigan.I finally tie my hair into a messy bun before leaving my room
"You dressed up faster than I thought,"Jesse says as he stands up .
His eyes sweep my whole body hungrily for a brief second. I thought he was joking when he said he would take me where I want to go but he wasn't.
"Where are you going? "He asks me while he gets in the car.
" I need to see my sister ,"I answer quietly.
Thankfully for me.He doesn't question me any further and the drive to Fawne's apartment is uncomfortably quiet. The air is charged and I can't even sit still especially when his blue eyes turn to look at me.When we reach ,Jesse lets me go by myself which I'm slightly grateful for.
"I thought you would never come ,"Fawne almost screams and gives me a tight hug.
I need to know if Celeste is okay. I managed to get what she needed but Fawne didn't tell me if my sister woke up or not.She simply told me that she is working on it.
"How is she? "I blurt .
Fawne backs away and takes a deep breath.I Instantly know that something is wrong. Is she still alive or did the treatment go in vain. I start thinking about the trouble i had to go through to just aquire that lotus and my mind is already swirling with regrets. I'm engaged to a arrogant rich man and he won't let me escape.
"She didn't wake up or respond to what I gave her,"Fawne grimaces," It's like she can't even lift a finger and it's getting worse,"
"What," I freeze and my mouth drops open.
"Something else is going on and I don't know if we can do something,"she replies.
My heart beats fast and my knees buckle as my thoughts swirl in my mind. With all the trouble i went through, the requirements didn't work. I don't even know what to do anymore. I open my mouth to speak but close it immediately because I really don't know where to begin.
"Fawne,"I break down ," Please help me "
Fawne sighs heavily and comes closer to me to give me hug ," I don't know how I can help anymore but we can figure out another way ,"
"Like what ? "I ask impatiently.
"Well ,"she frowns thoughtfully," We have to understand why she went to coma in the first place.We can find a witch or try to find something else in the meantime,"
"like what? "I ask again .
Fawne takes a deep breath and folds her arms ," It is going to cost a lot of money Freya and I don't want you to lose your life trying to find a cure. This is clearly supernatural and I don't want - "
I clench my fists and cut her off ," I will do anything for Celeste because there's no way I'm going to let her sleep forever,"
