Chapter Five
ღஐ✿Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ✿ஐღ
A wave took me under in the oceans waters. I open my mouth to gasp for air water rushes into my mouth forcing me to close it back up. The waves were tough. Pulling me down further into the depths of the oceans waters.
I can feel myself sinking lower into the ocean. I was no longer in control of my fate. I close my eyes bracing myself for the worst which was yet to come. Two pair of very strong arms grab me at my waist. They begin to help me swim back up to the surface. I gasp for air once we hit the surface.
"You're safe now" he says to me.
"Finn!" I call out gasping for air in my restless sleep.

Every time I closed my eyes drowning in the waters was all I could dream about at night. It was tormenting my soul. I wanted to learn how to swim. So that would never happen again.
EVER.
I sigh as I sit up in bed grateful that it had all been just a dream. I was alive and well. And having nightmares in my bed. Rigsby had heard me crying in my sleep. He made his way in my room. He manages to jump up with me on my bed.
"Hey boy" I greet him hello. He climbs in my lap wagging his little tail at me with joy. The light in my bedroom turns on. Grandma had woken up when she heard me cry out.
"Nightmare sugar pie?" she asks me.
"Uh-huh, nightmare" I sigh.
"Same dream?" she asks me.
"Same!" I grumble.
"We can get you free swimming lessons down at the YMCA if you wish" Grandma offers. It would be nice. But a bit embarrassing for a girl my own age to take swimming lessons.
"I don't know Grandma. We will see" I sigh.
"One thing at a time. We will get you there" she promises me as she sits down on the bed with me. "So need some warm milk to help you get to sleep?" she offers.
"Might" I tell her. I pet Rigsby who had made himself rather comfy in my lap. He had fallen asleep on me here.
"Okay, it is raining out. So no beach today. It is supposed to rain all day" she tells me.
"Bummer!" I agree.
"Well there is a lot of other stuff we can do around here" she reminds me. "Things other than the beach"
"What is that?" I ask.
"How about going down to the local sea aquarium to see all them little critters?" she offers.
"Sounds good to me. Sure" I tell her in agreement.
"They even have a thing now where you can feed the dolphins. Want to try that out with me? I was waiting to do that when you were here" she asks me.
"Sure! I would love to" I tell her.
"Great! By the way sugar pie, can I ask you something?" she wonders.
"Anything" I say.
"Did I hear you call out the name Finn?" she wonders.
• ❤︎ •• ❤︎ •
A blush creeps over my cheek bones at the mention of handsome Finn's name. I was going to have a hard time to tell my Grandma she had been right about merfolk. I still think I made up Finn in my head somehow.
I had to see him again to make sure he was really real. Then I might believe he was real. Grandma was just putting crazy thoughts in my head. I was getting to be as bad as she was. Talking to poodles. Making friends with merfolk and such.
"Yea I did call out to Finn. I dreamt that he saved me. I think it was all because of what we talked about the other day is all" I promise her. I really did not want to tell my Grandma she was right. Not until I was really sure. Like I said maybe I was the one going crazy here. Right along with my Grandma.
"I still say it is Finn whom rescued my beautiful Granddaughter" she argues with me.
"Someone did. I am grateful to whom ever did" I tell her. She gets up then goes to make us some warm milk in the pan on her stove. I get up out of bed.

Rigsby does not look to pleased that I made him get up off of my lap. It was thundering out big time. A down pour of rain was running down our window pane here outside. Lighting flashed. I was glad I was inside of here. I could not help but wish the weather was better.
I really wanted to go down to the ocean. I wanted to see if Finn was there. To make sure he was real after all. It looked like my plans for that were going to have to be put on hold here.
I look over at my Grandma's wall of interesting things. She had loads of art work of mythical merfolk hanging on her wall. One merman caught my eye. He reminded me of my Finn here. He looked royal. Proud. Strong. Too bad they were not real.
"Here you go sugar pie. Get some rest. We will have a fun day later" Grandma promises me before she leaves my room she hands me a glass of walk milk.
She always added a touch of vanilla flavoring in the milk. It was good. I finished my milk. Turned off the lights then crawled back into bed. A happy Rigsby noticed then he crawls in bed with me for the night. I lay there trying to sleep as the lighting boomed over head of me.

"Time to get up! Let's rock and roll sugar pie" Grandma demands the next morning as she bursts into my room.
Rigsby gets up jumps down off the bed then runs out in the hall with Grandma. I sigh as I yawn. Grandma was already out in the living room after waking me up.
"There is a half of grape fruit cut for you over there for breakfast. And some wheat toast to. Get moving and we will head on out" she tells me cheerfully.
She was always a morning person. Not me. I sit down at the chair by the kitchen table. I sprinkle some white sugar on my grape fruit. Eat my food. Then I go hop in the shower, and get ready for the day. It was still raining cats and dogs out there. It did not look like it was going to let up like I had hoped it might.
"Ready Grandma" I tell her once she came back inside from letting Rigsby go potty.
Rigsby looked adorable wearing a little rain coat that matched my Grandmas. Now if I went out in public with them that would be different. I would be so ashamed to be seen with them like that.
• ❤︎ •• ❤︎ •
"Wonderful sugar pie. Here is a parka. You will need it. It is rainy out" she tells me handing me a rain slicker like hers.
"I will just use an umbrella. I will be fine" I tell her as I set the parka aside. We head out for the day into her car.
She pulls out to the road. We head on over to the strip there at Myrtle Beach. We come up to the Aquarium. We soon find many others had the same idea to come here to get out of the rain. Grandma pays for our tickets then we get on our little tour. She hands me a camera to take photos.
"You are much better at photo taking then I am" she tells me. I nod. I loved seeing all of the sea creatures. The sea horses were my favorite. Soon we come up to the time we get to feed the dolphins. I was feeding one named Georgina. She seemed to rather like me a lot. She came back for more fish from me.
"She likes you" a worker tells me coming up to join me. He was about my age. His name tag reads Jordan.
"Thanks, I love her to" I giggle.
"You have a way with the animals. It is a good quality to have" he remarks as he flashes me a handsome smile.
"Thank you. You are sure lucky to work in a place like this. I bet it is fun" I tell him.
"Sure is. We are actually hiring right now. Would you be interested in working here?" he offers. I blink. Was he for real? Sure I would!
"Really? Yes I would love to work here" I tell him. "I am going to be here all summer. I was thinking of moving down here. Not sure where or if I am going to attend college yet" I explain to him.
"Well come by my office over there I will get you an application to fill out. We will get the processes moving here" he offers. He grins.
"Great! Just a second" I tell him. I rush over to my Grandma. This could be my chance. To get a good job. And stay here! This was sign! I knew it.
"Grandma?" I ask.
"Yes sugar pie?" she asks me as she feeds a dolphin.
"I was offered a job here. I am going to fill out an application. I will be right back okay?" I ask her.
"Really? That is great! Sure go for it" she tells me. I grin. I head on over to Jordan. He takes me to his office. I fill out the paper work. Then hand it to him.
"Everything looks great. We will call for an interview. But let me reassure you that you have the job. We are in need of extra hands around here these days" he explains.
"This is perfect for me. I know I will love working here" I tell him.
"Say sure is! I will look forward to working with you. Sydney..." he says my name as he glances down at the paper work. I nod. I notice he has little nick knacks of merfolk all over in the office.
"Like mythical creatures of the sea?" I joke as I point to the items in the room.
"Sure do. I know it is silly. But the old sea tales fascinate me. Always has sense I have grown up around the sea" he explains with a chuckle. He pushes his glasses up on his nose. He grins at me.
"I guess my Grandma is not the only one then" I tell him with a smile.
"Your Grandma believes there are merfolk out there to? I do not get to meet many who do" he tells me.
"Yes she is kooky like that" I giggle.
He was a little odd. But nice.
• ❤︎ •• ❤︎ •
"Let me assure you that your Grandma is not the only one who is a believer. They are out there Sydney. I have snapped a photo of one before want to see?" he offers. Before I can say no he whips out a photo of a tail that looked like my Finn in the water there. I nearly gasp.
"Oh how nice" I manage to lie.
"We have a meeting with a group here at night every Wednesdays. We talk about how to find them. We try to search out there for them. Once we nearly caught a merman. But some old lady helped him get away" he grumbles. This was nuts. He was talking about the time my Grandma set that Finn free!
"Sounds interesting. Hope to hear about the job soon. Well I have to be going. Bye" I say as I manage to get out of the office.
I hoped to have a new job soon. Not to run in to creepy Jordan. For some reason I had a bad feeling that was not going to be the last time I was going to be running into Jordan
