Chapter Fifteen

My heart begins to pound with fear. Here I was facing my worst fears head on here. I could do this. You can do it Sydney. He needs you. Crystal needs you. They are counting on you. I wondered how cold that water was. Hopefully luke warm here.

There was no telling with evil Jordan. Right? I stared down at the water. It was SO deep.

Darn Jordan for making the tank so deep. He knew I was scared of water. Darn him. Why did I have to open my big mouth about how I met Charlotte?

Why me why?

"You can do it Sydney! Just think about what they taught us in class" Charlotte calls out to me.

She did not have to face her worse fears here. Easy for her to say. I just nod. I had been getting better at holding my breath for a long time when Finn had been bringing me back to the cove.

All I had to do was get them free. Then I could swim back up to the surface. That was all there was to it. Hold my breath for a long time.

Here goes nothing...

"You can do it sugar! He needs you!" Gram reminds me again. I nod. I jump in. Water all around me.

My heart begins to pound faster. I see Finn looking upset to see me under water. I knew he was worried about me swimming. I did not want to upset him. But I had to do this. He pulled on his chains trying to get free to help me.

He was frustrated. I swim down as fast as I could go. It was pretty simple going down. I was good at sinking. Always had been. The water was not too cold. Not to warm. But not too cold. I keep myself under the water. I look around the tank. I see Gram and Charlotte staring at me in the tank.

They point to the keys down below for me. I nod in the water. My lungs soon were feeling the pressure of the water around me. I had to get this done. Or I was going to be of no help what's so ever to Finn or Crystal. I make my way over to the keys.

Damn that Jordan made the keys hard to tackle off the wall. I manage to get them off. I had the keys! YES! My heart rate was slowing down. I felt pressure on my lungs as I held my breath. I made my way over to Finn and Crystal. I set Crystal free unlocking her chains.

I point to the surface for her to meet us at the top. She nods and swims up to the top. Then I swim over to Finn. I have to find his key to free him. He looks at me with worry on his face. I soon free him. I feel weak.

I can barely swim up to the top here. I was starting to feel my lungs pound with pain in them from lack of air in them. Finn was starting to head up to the surface with Crystal. I tried to follow them.

I was losing this battle. I was going down under again instead of making my way back up to the surface with the others. I was a good sinker but I was not a good swimmer.

That was for sure. I struggled to swim up. Suddenly I feel Finn grab me. He swims me to the top. We hit the surface in no time. I gasp for air as we hit the surface.

"Sydney! What were you thinking! You could have killed yourself! You nearly did back there!" Finn demands to me. He was worried.

"I am okay. We have to get you guys out of here before Jordan comes back" I beg of them to hurry. "We are going to have you guys jump into the crate below there with towels in it. Take you to my Gram's car. Then head to the ocean" I explain the plan.

"Hold on here, what makes you think that we are going any place with you? Jordan told us that you were in on this the whole time. Finn, we cannot trust her. We cannot trust any human" Crystal warns Finn.

"I just put my own life in danger to save yours, I would not do that! Jordan lied. I never helped him find you guys! I would not do that to Finn!" I argue back.

"I believe her Crystal. Sydney cannot swim. She nearly drowned herself back there to save us. Why would she harm us in anyway?" points out Finn.

"We are wasting time! Come on!" calls out Charlotte.

"I don't know who to trust Finn! I am scared" says Crystal.

"I will get you out of here! You can trust me. You saved my life at the beach. I am returning the favor" I say sternly to Crystal. She nods.

"Alright" she sighs. Soon I get them out of the water. I am out to with them.

"Jump down! Jump guys!!" calls out Charlotte below us.

I look down. It was a long way down there. First Crystal jumps down into the towels just fine. Then I look over at Finn. He smiles sadly at me. I really hoped he knew I had nothing to do with Jordan capturing him like this.

"I trust you Sydney. I always have. I did not believe him" suddenly Finn tells me as though he was reading my thoughts. I smile as I nod.

"I would never bring harm to you or your people" I promise him. He nods.

"Sugar! Finn! Come on!" calls Gram.

"Take my hand" Finn demands to me. He holds his hand out to me. I smile shyly. We get ready then we both leap down into the cart.

"Now stay down in the cart guys. I am leading you all out" Charlotte tells us.

I stay down. I was between Crystal and Finn. My heart began to pound faster. We had to get them out of here safely. Soon we made it out to the parking lot. I saw the moon shining up in the sky.

"We are out here by my car. Come on guys! Let's get them in the car" Gram calls out to us. I look over at Finn. He was starting to turn a little blue in his face.

"Finn what is wrong?" I worry over him.

"Can't breathe well. I never have been out of water this long" he explains.

"Gram! We have to hurry! Finn is not doing well!" I cry with worry.

We work faster to get Crystal and Finn in the back of the car's seat. Then shut the door. I climb in the front with Gram and Charlotte. We were going to have to work fast to get these guys to the ocean quick.

"Hang in there Finn. You too Charlotte!" I call out to them.

"Man his face is turning a deep blue" mentions Charlotte.

He was shaking a little to. We had to get to the beach in time. Finn had to be alright. Soon we park at the ocean, and see it is a long walk to the beach from the parking lot.

"Gram we have to move them quickly, Gram you grab Crystal. Get her to the ocean" I demand as Charlotte and I work on Finn.

Crystal is rather heavy for Gram. She was turning a deep blue to like Finn was here. Not good. We all work to get Crystal in the waves of the ocean first. We carry her as fast as our legs would move. She was very heavy. I was not going to lie. We soon get her down to the ocean. She is free.

"Get to Finn!" she cries with worry. We run back to the car. Finn is shaking now. Gasping for air.

"Finn! " I cry with worry over him. Gram. Charlotte and I all grab a hold of Finn's long body as fast as we could. Then we begin to rush him down to the ocean.

"Almost there!" calls out Gram to Crystal. We soon get to the waves. We help get him in the waves. He swims to shore.

"Thank you guys" calls out Crystal. A car comes in the parking lot with us. Head lights zoom in on us.

"There they are! They stole something from me! Arrest them!" calls out Jordan.

"Go! SWIM!" I yell at Finn and Crystal. Finn looks at me with worry. "GO NOW! Before he can grab you again!" I demand to them. They do as I say. They head into the ocean.

"Now what is going on here?" a police officer demands to know as he comes down to the ocean where we were all standing.

"They stole something from me! They set it free here in the ocean! I want them all arrested! Now!" Jordan demands to the officer.

"You are all under arrest, do not say a word. You will be given an attorney. You are given one phone call each. Do you understand me?" an officers demands to us. He begins to arrest us all. Hand cuffing us all.

"They stole my project! They stole it! I will sue them! SUE YOU ALL!" Jordan screams angrily at us as the officer leads us away to his cop car. I just hoped that Crystal and Finn would stay away from the shore line for a while here. So Jordan would not be able to find them again. I would do it all again in a heartbeat to rescue them.

"Admit it! You stole my project!" Jordan yells with anger in my getting into my face.

"Not saying a word until my attorney is here" I snap back. "I have my rights"

"I will take you all to court if I have to. Do you hear me? You will pay for this!" Jordan yells.

"You need to calm down sir. We are dealing with them now" the officer demands to Jordan.

"They let my project free! Now how will I be able to explain this to my boss? I am ruined because of them!" Jordan yells.

"I am telling you right now sir...you need to calm down" argues the officer.

"It sure is going to be a long night ahead" I sigh to Grandma and Charlotte.

"Sure is" sighs Charlotte.
