Bevelyn is the name everybody acknowledges me with. Being the only girl among five boys, I was treated like a goddess. 'Mummy please can I get pizza?' i asked. 'Sure my angle' replied Mum. From the look of things one could tell that I was from a wealthy family. I had everything to my disposal. In no time I wrote my examination and passed with distinction. I gained admission to one of the best college in my country......... Madonna college gave the best education I could ever think of. My first year in school was not easy at all but as time went by I got hold of myself. Julian was my roommate. And she was the immediate friend school gave me. We did almost everything together. Within the twinkle of an eye we found ourselves in year two. Mum called after every three days to check on me. ' I wish I were home to disturb you ' I teased. ' oh really then hurry and come home' replied Mum in a sarcastic manner. Julian although an extrovert sometimes found herself quiet in her own thought. The day of visiting came and to my greatest surprise, my whole family came to see me. ' Oh My God ' I exclaimed. I was so overwhelmed. They took all the packages they brought to me into my hostel. We sat on my bed and spoke at length. Julian entered minutes after our arrival. But something was weird about her but I wouldn't dare ask her in front of my family. I introduced her to my family then she also welcomed then. My mum already new her by name so immediately she entered then mum asked ' You must be Julian right?'. asked Mum ' Yes Ma' answered Julian. I have heard a lot about you from Bevelyn. Hope a everything is going perfectly well with you? 'Yes ma am good' Thanks for your concern Julian replied. It was getting late so the Daniels family had to start going. They kissed me goodbye and sat in the car and drove off. I stood there till I realized I could not see them anymore then I went back to my room in loneliness. Julian and I unpacked all the provisions my family brought and filled my locker with it. Then I was jotted back to reality. Julian's parents didn't show up. ' oh so that explains why she has been moody all along. 'Why didn't your parent show up' I asked " I guess they went on a business trip" she replied with a naive smile. Soon I noticed the change in Julian's attitude. She would sleep late . And rising too was a problem to her. One night, I saw her sneaking out of the room but when I confronted her the following morning she said " I just went out to freshen up ". I believed her because I didn't think anything negative for her. "Here I was in a hotel". "This is amazing" I said to myself. Julian was a prostitute!...... I sneaked on Julian and tiptoed behind her the very moment I saw her disappearing from the room. I followed her the a distinct area where only prostitute were found. She changed herself into something more catchy enough to attract men..... Not long after a nice, blue black tinted Lamborghini stopped just in Julian's direction and she hopped in. I took a taxi immediately and ordered the driver to follow them. In no time we found ourselves in Mangrove Hotel. They booked for a room and I was left out side in shock. I had to rush back to the hostel because it was already late. I think I heard the door opened around five o'clock but I was too tired to confirm. Early in the morning we all went to class as if nothing had happened. After class I asked Julian if she could spare me a minute of her time and she declined saying " I have something important to do" . And she left me all alone on the spot. This ill attitude of her continued for days. And as days turned to weeks, weeks also turned to months. With no change in her attitude and bad deeds..... Finally she gave me the opportunity to speak with her. When I confronted her she said " it's because you have parents who loves and care about you. it's rather unfortunate that I have no parent" Seeing the shock on my face and told me that " yes I'm an orphan"." And the last time I told you that my parents were on a business trip, I just didn't know how to tell your my story". So I had to do all kinds of nasty things to earn money and cater for myself. To my greatest surprise she confessed that she had been on this since she was seven years of age..... " My parents died in a fatal accident . After their death my uncle's took everything my parents work and achieved and left me to my own fate. Life became hard as I was mistreated by my uncle and his wife." Then one day on the street hawking at night I saw the large number of girls patrolling the streets. I mastered courage and spoke to one who told me what they were doing. She told me " this is my only source of income after my parents got divorced and abandoned us"..... I saw this as a breakthrough for me since we all had the same and similar story.... I escaped my uncle's house and fled to my new friends dwelling place. She welcomed me wholeheartedly and at once I felt at home. She gave me guildlines on how the business worked. Soon after I was on the streets hunting for men to prey and feed on for survival. And So this is how I have managed to cater for myself for all these years. Before she could finish her narration I was already swimming in my own pool of tears. I felt heartless for judging her I asked her for forgiveness which she did gladly. I gave her words of encouragement and she turned over a new leaf. Henceforth, my mother took matters into her own hands and adopted Julian. Julian became a part of our family and she had all the chance to enjoy all the goodies I have also been enjoying. So we were now two girls among five boys. "What a super protection" I said to myself as I closed my eyes to sleep after a long day.
