18. Judit strapped Balázs into the car seat and closed the door gently. She circled around the car and got in. She turned the key in the ignition, rolled out of the garage, and waited until the garage door closed after her, and started off. But before she turned onto the main road from their side street, she was struck by the feeling that something wasn’t right. Initially, she didn’t know what was wrong. Then it hit her. The smell.
