Mia's eyes widened in surprise as Julian revealed the extent of the embezzlement. She had suspected that something was off, but she had no idea it was this serious. "What do you mean it's just the tip of the iceberg?" Mia asked, her curiosity piqued. Julian leaned forward, his eyes locked on hers. "I mean that the embezzlement is just a small part of a much larger scheme," he said. "I think someone is using the company to launder money." Mia's jaw dropped. "Launder money?" she repeated. "That's a serious accusation." Julian nodded. "I know it is," he said. "But I have reason to believe that it's true." Mia's mind was racing. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. The company she worked for, the company she trusted, was involved in something illegal? As she sat there, trying to process what Julian had told her, Mia realized that she had to know more. She had to get to the bottom of this. "What's going on, Julian?" Mia asked, her voice firm. "Tell me everything." Julian sighed, rubbing his temples. "It's complicated," he said. "But I'll try to explain." Mia nodded, her eyes locked on his. "It started a few months ago," Julian said. "I noticed that some of our financial records were off. At first, I thought it was just a mistake, but then I started to dig deeper." Mia's eyes widened as Julian revealed the extent of the scheme. "I discovered that someone had been manipulating our financial records, making it look like we were making more money than we actually were," Julian said. "And then I found out that the money was being laundered through a series of shell companies." Mia's mind was reeling. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. "But who is behind it?" Mia asked, her voice firm. Julian's eyes locked on hers. "I don't know," he said. "But I think it's someone high up in the company." Mia's eyes widened in surprise. "Someone high up?" she repeated. Julian nodded. "Yes," he said. "I think it's someone who has access to the company's financial records." Mia's mind was racing. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. As she sat there, trying to process what Julian had told her, Mia realized that she had to take action. She had to help Julian get to the bottom of this. "What can I do to help?" Mia asked, her voice firm. Julian smiled, his eyes locked on hers. "I'm glad you're on board," he said. "I need you to help me investigate further." Mia nodded, her mind racing with possibilities. As they sat there, discussing their plan of action, Mia couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. She was finally going to get to the bottom of this. But as they left Julian's office, Mia couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. She looked around, but saw nothing. It wasn't until they were walking down the hallway that Mia saw him. A man in a suit, watching them from across the hall. Mia's heart skipped a beat as she realized that they were in danger. "Julian," Mia whispered, her eyes locked on the man. "I think we're being watched." Julian's eyes narrowed as he followed her gaze. As they stood there, frozen in fear, Mia realized that they had stumbled into something much bigger than they had ever imagined. And now, they were in grave danger. Julian's eyes locked onto the man in the suit, his expression unreadable. "Let's get out of here," he said, his voice low and urgent. Mia nodded, her heart racing with fear. She quickly followed Julian as he turned and walked back down the hallway. As they walked, Mia couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. She kept looking over her shoulder, expecting to see the man in the suit following them. But every time she looked, there was no one there. Julian seemed to sense her fear. He placed a reassuring hand on her arm. "We'll be okay," he said. "I'll protect you." Mia smiled weakly, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Julian. She didn't know what she would do without him. As they reached the parking garage, Julian quickly unlocked his car and ushered Mia inside. "Get in," he said. "We need to get out of here." Mia nodded, her heart still racing with fear. She quickly fastened her seatbelt as Julian started the engine and pulled out of the parking garage. As they drove, Mia couldn't help but wonder who the man in the suit was. And what he wanted. "Who was that man?" Mia asked, turning to Julian. Julian's expression was grim. "I don't know," he said. "But I think he might be connected to the embezzlement." Mia's eyes widened in surprise. "You think he's involved?" she asked. Julian nodded. "Yes," he said. "I think he might be one of the people behind the embezzlement." Mia's mind was racing. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. As they drove, Mia couldn't shake the feeling that they were being followed. She kept looking over her shoulder, expecting to see the man in the suit behind them. As they drove, the tension between them grew thicker. Mia could feel the weight of Julian's gaze on her, and she knew that he was attracted to her. But she was also scared. Scared of what might happen if they got too close. As they pulled up to Julian's house, Mia felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was safe. But as she looked over at Julian, she knew that she wasn't safe from her feelings. She was falling for him, hard. And she didn't know if she could stop it. As they got out of the car, Julian turned to her. "Come on," he said. "Let's get inside." Mia nodded, following him into the house. As they walked, Mia couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She knew that they were in danger, and she didn't know if they would be able to uncover the truth behind the embezzlement. But she was determined to try. As they reached the living room, Julian turned to her. "I'll make us some coffee," he said. Mia nodded, sitting down on the couch. As Julian walked into the kitchen, Mia couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards him. He had saved her from the man in the suit, and he was helping her uncover the truth behind the embezzlement. But as she looked around the room, Mia's eyes landed on something that made her heart skip a beat. A photo of Julian and a woman. Mia's eyes widened in surprise as she realized that the woman was Julian's ex-fiancée. And she was beautiful. Mia felt a pang of jealousy as she looked at the photo. She couldn't believe that Julian had been engaged to someone so beautiful. As Julian walked back into the room with two cups of coffee, Mia quickly looked away from the photo. But she couldn't shake the feeling of jealousy that had settled in her stomach. As they sat down to drink their coffee, Mia couldn't help but wonder if Julian still had feelings for his ex-fiancée. And if he did, where did that leave her?
