Lost in World
- Alice can I bring my boyfriend for a sleepover? - Yeah that's fine. As I gave my answer to my sister I felt rage and sorrow fill inside me. Our tiny little room was already too small for the both of us. As I pulled myself out of the sunken airbed my sister bought me, I could hear my joints popping and feel a stabbing pain in my chest. I bit my bottom lip and pretended nothing is going on. - How long will he stay for? - I asked with sunken eyes. _ I don't know, shouldn't be for too long- she replied while folding her bed sheets. He stayed with us before and it wasn't pleasant. I could hear them have s*x on the double bed right next to me. Even if I stuffed a whole tree into my ears, I would still be able to hear them. I hate myself for being in this situation. How could she take all the money I gave her to find us both a flat and she rents a small room for the both of us to live in. Just because it is close to her school. And yet she is the one on the contract so I shouldn't be here at all. Tonight however, will be different. I won't go home tonight. I have decided, since the weather is warm, I will stay up all night and just watch the sunset by the river nearby on a bench. As soon as I took the decision, I could feel my mind calm down and sudden happiness fill me. I thought since I will be staying outside tonight I should take a shower. I jumped into the shower and rubbed the soap on every part of me. I always love my showers extra hot. I love watching the steam come out of my nose and mouth while showering. When I got out of the shower I wiped the steam off of the mirror. As I passed my hand over it a small crack appeared. Was that there before? My confusion didn't last long. I immediately dried myself up and wrapped my long black curly hair into a towel. I pulled on a pair of black jeans and a tight white t-shirt. I always dressed up like this. It reminded me that I'm strong because I did look a bit like Tomb Raider. I braided my hair back and put my high black boots on to finish my combination. -See you later.- I waved at my sister as I walked out of the room with my phone in my hand. - See you later - she waved back watching me with two black eyes making sure I'm leaving. As I walked out of the student accommodation, a feeling of regret passed through me. Why was I not studying like other youngsters. Why do I have to be different and work instead. As soon as I exited the building Gus came out of the bushes running to me. Gus is a very old grey neighbourhood cat. I don't know exactly how old he is, but he is definitely older than 5 years. He knew around very well so he always followed me to the station and back home. Just as if he is watching over me. As soon as I see Gus running to me he puts a huge smile on my face. I always thought animals are better friends than any human can ever be in this world. When we arrived to the station I gave a huge hug and a kiss then put him back down. As I watched him turn back home I joined the crowd of people I call modern zombies. These people never lift their heads up to look around themselves. Never care about people around them and never show emotions on their faces. I ride the train for 15 minutes while watching the outside scenery. The sunshine hitting the river and swans playing with their babies is a beauty. When we approach the last station I waited until everyone got off. As I was walking out of the station I saw this young man with headphones on sleeping in one of the seats. I stood there for a good few minutes because he looked different. I could not tell exactly what but he had something off about him. Before things got awkward, I went closer to him and began to think how to wake him up. If I excused myself and spoken to him he won't hear. If I touched him he might get scared. So I dropped my phone on him and pretended that I was walking out of the train. -Ops I'm sorry. I'm very clumsy. This is the last stop by the way - I said with a big smile. - Thank you - He said with a meaningful look and smiled back. He had dark eyes and tanned skin. His dark hair was a mess but still looked cool. I must have been stunned by his smile because I stood there enough to watch him rub his eyes, stretch his arms and stand up. He was so tall that I panicked and looked away. He didn't look so tall when sitting. I think I had butterflies in my stomach? I never felt this way before. He looked at me and our eyes locked again. I could see confusion in his eyes, it was then I noticed I have stood there for too long. - Oh sorry I didn't mean to stare at you. Have a nice day- I said and rushed out of the train. I did not look back. I didn't want to see him again because I felt very stupid. That guy should not see me again. With that thought I ran for a good 20 minutes to work. By the time I arrived to work I was sweating and heaving. I love running but not the after effects. I took out the shop keys and opened the double doors to a charity shop. It's a charity shop that sells furniture and electrical equipments. I was so proud to be working here. All of the profit were donated to people with heart problems. I switched on the lights and went into the office. The office was far behind the shop up a few metal stairs. As I walked up the stairs I heard a banging noise come from the second floor. I remembered my outfit, I was Tomb Raider, so I carried on walking up. As I walked through the second double door on the second floor I slowed down. I took light steps across the floor making sure I don't make too much of a noise. While scanning the floor checking in between the donated furniture, one of the sofas fell from It's place. Now even Tomb Raider would have been scared. I quickly went to check the fallen sofa but there was nothing around. I turned around to go back downstairs then bumped into a huge wall like chest. - Ooohhh! What the.... Matt? What are you doing here in the dark? - The warehouse manager looked like a mess. He looked like he slept here. Which was not allowed. - Hahahaha! Good morning to you too- he laughed with a rusty voice and walked off as if nothing happened with unstable steps. Another reason why I loved working in this store is because everyday it's a different story. My colleagues were special for me, especially the warehouse manager. He was the double the age of me, loved going to the pub after work and never ate anything proper yet he was tall and strong. Throughout the day I would go next to him to watch and learn how he done the furniture repairs. As Matt threw his jacket on getting ready for work I yelled behind him: - "Don't ever scare me like that again. I almost lost my mind, I thought there was a thief in here." I must have looked too scared. - "Hahahaha! You're cute, you think a thief will steal from a charity shop?" he said with a loud laugh. - "Well you never know. We have valuable things in here too you know." I said with a whispering voice. - "The only valuable thing in here is you". He looked at me and continued - "and me" with a huge smile he climbed down the stairs to the first floor. I ran behind him and yelled. -" Wait for me before you start anything, I have 40 minutes to spare so I can give you a hand with repairs." He continued walking without saying a word. I swiftly went to the bathroom and washed my face. I was so sweaty that I had to change my clothes. Same style but fresh clothes. After changing I quickly dried myself off and went next to Matt. He had a double bed in front of him which had a slack broken. - "You can fix this right?" He asked without looking at me while carrying some metal on his shoulder. -" Yeah I can. I will have to borrow from one of your slacks." I said with a clear voice. I grabbed one new slack and began to place it in place of the broken one. It did not go in, it was too long. I didn't want to tell Matt that I couldn't do it so I grabbed a wood saw and started to cut the extra bit off. While I was cutting the wood off I checked to see if Matt was paying attention to what I was doing. Then I saw him staring at me and smiling. It must have been due to embarrassement I got distracted and cut my hand with the saw. There was blood everywhere. No pain, just cold and wet. He panicked and grabbed my hand...
