Asher's eyes were fixed on his phone, waiting for Marcus to get back to him. He had a feeling that Marcus was going to uncover something big.
Just as he was starting to get impatient, his phone buzzed. Asher's eyes scanned the screen, his heart racing with anticipation.
"Asher, I've got some information for you," Marcus said, his voice low and serious.
Asher's eyes narrowed. "What is it?" he demanded.
Marcus hesitated before speaking up. "Ethan Wellesley is in deep trouble, Asher. He's been involved with some shady people, and they're not happy with him."
Asher's eyes flashed with anger. "What kind of shady people?" he demanded.
Marcus's voice was cautious. "I don't think you want to know, Asher."
Asher's eyes narrowed. "Tell me."
Marcus hesitated before speaking up. "Ethan's been involved with the Morano crime family."
Asher's eyes widened in shock. The Morano crime family was notorious for their ruthless tactics and extensive reach.
"What does Ethan owe them?" Asher asked, his voice low and urgent.
Marcus's voice was hesitant. "I'm not entirely sure, Asher. But I do know that Ethan's been trying to pay them off for months."
Asher's eyes narrowed. "And Ember's been helping him."
Marcus's voice was cautious. "I think so, Asher. But I'm not entirely sure."
Asher's mind was racing with possibilities. He needed to talk to Ember, to find out what was going on.
He pulled out his phone and dialed Ember's number, his heart racing with anticipation.
But as he waited for Ember to pick up, Asher couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.
