Going Out

1135 Words
The weekend came too fast for Dallas while Cyd on the other hand wasn’t really thinking about it much, after all she was a busy person. Saturday was going quite well for her until 5pm when Dallas’s name appeared on her screen, making her phone buzz repeatedly. She seemed dazed as she remembered the hangout she was supposed to have, the moment was lost on her as the buzzing died down, and she quickly grabbed her phone and excused herself from the others. There was a certain reason why the hangout was important to her. She needed to feel real and the last time she really felt real was when she was in high school. She needed someone to remind her of that and that just happened to be Dallas. On getting outside, it didn’t take Cyd another minute as she quickly dialed Dallas digits on her way to her car, Dallas didn’t pick up on the first ring but did on the second sounding quite upset “What?” that was the first thing Dallas uttered on picking the call as Cyd plugged her phone into the car speaker Cyd being Cyd though was not quite affected by her words as she said indifferently like she had not left her waiting at a restaurant for almost an hour “I’m already on my way, stay there, Nerdy” “You are unbelievable, you know that right?” Dallas scoffed out “Of course, I tend to be unique most times “Cyd replied non chalantly as she cruised along the way to the campus “30more mins and that’s it, dumbass”Dallas warned “I asked for a day, Dallas. Give me that or nothing.” Cyd demanded and then added as she parked her sleek Ferrari “plus I’m here already.” Dallas frowned at her as she saw her slight from her car from the window where she was seated ,cutting the call, she ordered a drink for herself and the restaurant doorbell dinged as it was opened and in stepped Cyd followed by her fresh scent and wealthy tomboy appearance. Quite a few heads turned back to see the new customer strode to a frowning Dallas table then turned back to mind their own business “Is this how you treat every of your friends?” Dallas inquired as Cyd sat down and ordered s drink for herself. “If I had any, yes I would treat them exactly like this” Cyd replied Completely ignoring the fact that the idiotic tomboy just said she didn’t have friends, Dallas went on as she sipped her drink “Do you really think you are that great?” “Totally, Of course. Because, spoiler alert, Nerdy, I'm pretty great” Cyd commented “Nope, you are just an arrogant rich brat” Dallas disagreed “Glad to hear that I’m living up to my reputation” Cyd smirked as the waiter brought back her drink and that really got Dallas laughing because of the tone the girl opposite her used . “What? Why laughing? ”Cyd inquired “I just realized how I would have missed out on this side of you if we didn’t meet here. We were never really close in high school. I only remembered you and your gang always breaking the school rules. Speaking of your gang, Miranda and co, how are they?” Dallas said “I know right, I’m just too awesome. And that was only because, as a rule breaker, I couldn’t really hang with a prefect. I and they don’t really talk anymore” Cyd replied smiling “Why?” Dallas inquired “It’s a long story” Cyd replied as Dallas chuckled “Wow, a long story from Cyd Adams. Now, I’m curious. We have all day to talk about it, you know” “I want to talk about the old days but not the bad memories” Cyd said “Bad memories?” Dallas thought to herself, the tomboy in she knew back them and the one she met now was still the same always bright and rude girl so how come she had some bad memories. That was left unanswered as Cyd interrupted her thoughts “So, I looked it up and found out you are studying law, thought you were the politics type, why law?” “You looked it up?! Where?” Dallas asked in disbelief “Don’t look at me that way, I'm rich and there are things people would do for a bit of my wealth” Cyd stated shrugging “You mean your parent’s wealth?” Dallas asked scoffing Cyd smiled s bit and quickly changed the focus of the topic “Remember that time I drove my power bike into Mr.Herrow’s English class?” “How could I forget? I palmed my face so hard that day that it hurt” They both chuckled, talked and reminisced about their high school days and all that losing track of time till the restaurant was empty except for the workers ,Cyd offered to drive her back to her hostel and Dallas accepted it gracefully. Over the course of a month, the two tomboys of clear opposite worlds didn’t meet each other once but they kept in contact and calls and one particular evening, they discussed a topic that would forever change their lives Dallas had just come back from a lecture and was relaxing on her bed Rachel had gone home for the weekend so she was alone. “Just ran into Joe, here” A message popped up from Cyd on Dallas phone She typed excitedly “Really? Joe, the time keeper?” “Yes and he was alone”A reply popped in “Wow, no Linds? “Dallas inquired “No Linds.”Cyd typed back “I kinds always knew they wouldn’t last even though they were obsessed with each other, always going around together” Dallas stated “Why did you think so?” “Because, Love doesn’t exist. Cyd” “Finally on the same page as me on something” Cyd typed back with a smirking emoji “You don’t believe in it too?” Dallas asked “Yes” “But don’t you have a boyfriend or something” She asked again “Nope and even if I did, I wouldn’t love him but of course, I wouldn’t date someone that likes me “Cyd replied “What about the boyfriend you told me about on the day we met?” “Oh you remember that, Ben. He’s my best friend, I call him my boyfriend for fun, he has his own girlfriend.do you have one?” Cyd asked “What?” “A boyfriend?” “OH, I swing the other way actually, I’m gay” “Wow.” “Think it’s wrong?” “Not at all, after all, I'm bisexual” Cyd replied before adding “Think carefully Dallas, I don’t have a bit of crush on you” “Never said you did. That would be gross if you did ,same goes for me” Cyd sent her laughing emojis The message that popped up on Dallas screen from Cyd literally made her stopped to think of what to reply for about 10mins Cyd - “Do you want to go out with me?”
