Chapter 1
The sun hung low in the Sky, casting a golden glow over Greenhill Academy, a sprawling campus of manicured lawns and ivy-covered buildings.
Luxury cars lined the driveway, their polished surfaces sparkling like jewels in the morning light.
In one of these cars, Katarina adjusted her sunglasses, her dark hair fluttering slightly as the driver steered her down a winding road.
Next to her, Hiroshi was typing on his mobile phone and a faint musical hum filled the air.
“Did you finish the history assignment?” Katarina asked, her voice laced with a teasing lilt.
Hiroshi looked up with a grin. "What do you think? I'm just as unprepared as you are" he paused, then added with a theatrical sigh, "I can't believe Mr. Santos actually expects us to know the dates of every war since the dawn of time“
“Pfft, we’ll wing it. Just throw in some dates and names, and he’ll be too busy scrolling through his phone to notice” she replied, laughing and tossing her hair over her shoulder.
The car slowed down as they approached the school entrance, where Maria waved goodbye towards her driver. Her bright pink backpack bounced as she trotted towards them. “Hey, you two! Ready to face the day?“
“Not even close” Hiroshi muttered, rolling his eyes.
“Cheer up!” Maria chirped, nudging him. “It’s a new day full of possibilities… or at least full of drama”
“Drama? You mean like Oliver being late again?” Katarina snickered.
“Exactly! I just hope he doesn’t get Mr. Kim’s wrath this time” Maria replied, her face lighting up as they entered the school building, the sound of their footsteps echoing in the marble foyer.
David stood outside, leaning against the wall with a relaxed posture, his gaze fixed on the horizon. When Diana arrived, his face brightened instantly. He pushed himself off the wall and walked toward her with a big smile.
"Hey beautiful," he said, leaning down to press a light kiss to her lips.
"Good morning, baby" she replied, her smile beaming as they entered the building, hand in hand.
Just then, Mr. Kim pulled into the parking lot in his sleek black sedan. The students around him parted like waves, some whispering behind their hands while others shot him nervous glances. With a raised eyebrow, he stepped out, adjusting his crisp tie and looked around the scene.
As the trio climbed the stairs, they caught sight of Lila and Sofia dancing in the hallway, filming a t****k challenge.
Their laughter rang out, punctuated by the pop of music blaring from Sophia’s phone
“Look at them!” Maria exclaimed, shaking her head. “They’re going to get in trouble”
“Only if Mr. Kim catches them,” Hiroshi replied, a mischievous smile creeping across his face. “And we all know how that will end”
“Hey, don’t jinx it,” Katarina laughed. “I’d rather not see them get detention before lunch”
Just then, Ethan sped through the school gates with his motorcycle, the engine growling like a wild beast.
Students scattered, laughter turning to yelps as he narrowly missed colliding with a group of freshmen.
“Hey! Watch it!” shouted the school guard, waving his hands in frustration, Ethan merely smirked, parking his bike with a flourish.
Inside the classroom, Alex and Leo huddled side by side, their faces illuminated by the blue glow of their phones, immersed in an online game that seemed far more captivating than the world surrounding them.
Katarina, Hiroshi, and Maria exchanged greetings with Leo and Alex, who were glued to their phones, engrossed in a game.
“Still playing?” Katarina teased, leaning over to peek at their screens. “You two are going to fail everything if you don’t pay attention”
“Oh, please. We can multitask,” Leo replied, not looking up.
Katarina smiled and waved at Nathaniel, who was buried in his textbooks, a look of concentration on his face.
Hiroshi snickered at Tristan, who was practically begging Olivia for her homework.
“Come on, Olivia! Just this once!” he pleaded, his voice rising in desperation.
“No way, Tristan. You should’ve studied,” she shot back, crossing her arms defiantly.
Luna was busy snapping pictures of Marcus, who had fallen asleep at his desk with his head resting on a pile of ungraded papers.
“This is going on my story,” she whispered to Maria with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
“Are you sure he won’t wake up and kill you?” Maria quipped.
“Totally worth it,” Luna replied, grinning as she pressed the shutter.
In the hallway, Clara and Lucas were racing toward the classroom, Clara’s laughter echoing as she crossed the threshold first.
“I won!” Clara cheered, sticking out her tongue at Lucas, who was panting behind her.
“Next time, I’ll win for sure!” he huffed, glaring at her playfully
Amidst this tapestry of friendships, makeup sessions, and sportsmanship stood Daniel, the epitome of a true gentleman, turned mirror-holder for Isabella and Emma who were sitting at a table, adorned in the glow of blush and laughter.
“You both look amazing, can I get a tutorial?” he asked jokingly.
“Only if you promise to wear lipstick too,” Emma shot back, her eyes sparkling with laughter.
Outside the classroom, the bell rang, signaling the start of the day, and David kissed Diana goodbye after walking her to her classroom.
“See you at lunch!” he called, his voice warm and inviting.
“Can’t wait,” she replied, her smile lingering as she turned to enter.
As students filled the classroom, Mr. Kim swept in, his presence commanding. He glanced at the clock, then at the students, his expression stern. “Let’s get started. Attendance first.”
“Faster, Oliver!” a voice called from the parking lot. Oliver, a tall boy with messy hair and a sheepish grin, sprinted toward the building, his backpack bouncing wildly.
“I’m going!” he yelled, glancing back at his driver, who's waving at him.
A rumble of laughter erupted from a class of students looking down from the second floor of their classroom window.
“Looks like he’s late again” murmured a student from a different class, who was looking down from his classroom window.
“Classic Oliver” His classmate chuckled. “He’s always late because of that twin of his”
”Stay inside, Mr. Santos will come here shortly“ Before he could leave, Oliver burst through the door, panting and disheveled. “Sorry! My driver—”
“Late again, Oliver?” Mr. Kim interrupted, his voice icy. “Office. Now.”
The laughter of the class echoed as Oliver was dragged out, his protests falling on deaf ears. “I swear it wasn’t my fault!”
Katarina leaned over to Hiroshi, stifling a giggle. “At this rate, he’s going to end up in detention every day”
The morning passed in a blur of classes, laughter, and the occasional groan at Mr. Kim’s math lectures. They yawned through the equations, their minds drifting to thoughts of lunch and freedom.
