“Damn it”! “Damn it!” “God Damnit!” Avery screams as she hits the punching bag over and over again hoping it was Mr MacMillies face he was hitting. “Ahhhh!” she screamed. “I can't get married to him” she sat on the floor looking at a particular post. “What if I decide to make a deal with him? He's a businessman and he surely will listen to me. I have a lot of things to do, I need to catch Andrew Richardson first before thinking of getting married” she's saying to herself. She got up from the floor, went to take her bag and was about to leave when her phone rang. “Hello mum, I'm on my way already. Do you have to call me a hundred times? I will be there in a jiffy”. She said and ended the call, went straight to her car and drove off. * * * * *Four days later* It's past midnight and Avery still can't sleep. She's been moving from one end of the bed to another. Five days ago her life was perfect and now in the next few hours she would be married out. More like being sold out. She doesn't want this, she tried making a deal with Eric but the dumb skull just wouldn't bulge. What does he think he's made up of actually? Imagine getting married to a loveless, emotionless person. She sighs again and stood from her bed and was about to go out when her phone rang. She turned around looking in all directions. Until she remembers that it's her secret phone that was ringing. The one she uses for her secret undercover agent. She quickly went to where the phone was and picked it. “Boss, still haven't gotten a word from him,” Eugene said. “Hmm, that's strange,” Avery said. “It's been three days now and we haven't heard anything from Andrew Richardson, do you think he died?” Avery asked “I think there's something going on, he's been too quiet” Eugene said “Too quiet” Avery said and walked to her mirror where her wedding gown is being placed. She sighs, they didn't go for cake tasting, wine tasting, or even going to choose a wedding gown, everything was done for her. Ughhhh “Don't relent, keep watching, there's something off about this, keep your eyes open Eugene”. Avery said and end the call “He is being too quiet and it's scaring me” she said as she lay on the bed. She looked at the time, it's 1:15am. It will be morning soon and also her wedding day. * * * Avery woke up to the banging of her door. She looks around, and the pain in her neck hits her, she can't believe she slept in an awkward position all through the night. She had the weirdest dream that she's getting married. What a dream. “Bang! Bang! Bang!” She heard it again. She lazily got up from her bed and opened the door.Standing before her is her brother. “And she finally opens,” Abram said walking inside her room. She squinted her eyes “What do you want?” “Do you know what the time is?” Abram asked, tilting his head to a corner. “I don't know, you tell me” Avery said crossing her hands around her chest “It's past ten Avery, what are you doing still sleeping” Abram said “I’m standing Abram not sleeping, so shoo, I need to get dressed for work”Avery said waving her hands in the air. “W-What?” “Water, Get out…” Avery said. “Wait don't tell me you forgot” Abram said “Forgot what Abram, I'm late already, get out” “ It's your wedding day today,” Abram shouted. “What?” Avery opened her mouth. “Water, Go take your bath, the makeup artist will be here soon” Abram said and left. Her eyes went straight to the mirror, it wasn't a dream. It's real, she's getting married today. “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!” * * * “You look Dazzling brother” Marcy said to her elder brother. “Who would have thought that you will be getting married today? Me for one, I'm happy I can't wait to meet my sister in-law” She said excited jumping up and down, If only your sister in-law will be happy to meet you Eric said In his mind. He looked at his suit, it's an expensive Black shiny Armani. He too doesn't believe he's getting married now. It's totally out of his plan but what to do?. He looked at himself in the mirror again. He's looking handsome as always. “Boss, here's the package you requested” Luck Said Eric collects the gift box from him. He opens it and smiled. A simple bracelet worth $50,000 for his new wife. His father pestered him to get a wedding gift for her and he told Luck to choose something that she would like, and Luck picked out this bracelet, it looks beautiful. “We are ready to go now” Luck Said. “The car is ready?” “Yes boss” Eric arranged his hair and walk out. Let's get this over with. * * * Standing at the foot of the altar waiting for his bride to walk down the aisle. He looks dazzling as always with an unreadable expression, nobody knows what he's thinking. Just a few people were invited for the wedding with some press, all carrying the news that Mr MacMillies will be getting married to a mysterious lady whom they've not seen before. His picture is being placed at the corner of everywhere carrying wedding news. He intended to make it small and a secret because of Avery, but it's so unfortunate that he's so famous that most people live on watching his daily activities. * * * “Ahhhh!! It's too heavy. How do you expect me to put on such a heavy dress, I will die before getting to the altar” Avery screamed. The makeup artist looked around in fear. It's been 3 hours since they started her makeup, Avery has had one complaint to another. It's either the makeup is too heavy, too bright, or too much. She finally decided to stick to bitching makeup with black eye shadows. For once she's regretting working on a client, because she's a rich client and more money will fall out so she decided to accept it. “Ma'am please stay still, I need to zip it up for you.” The makeup artist said “ Zip it up? It's too heavy, too tight and you still want to zip it up? Remove the zip immediately” Avery said. “I'm sorry ma'am I can't do that, it's custom made, it was made this way, you just have to stand still and let me zip it, we are already late” She said frustrated “I'm tired already,” Avery said wiping invisible sweats of her face. “Let's just skip this, and go straight to the reception so I can rest. Or better still postpone it to another day” “This isn't a business my darling” her mother said coming into the room. “It's one day in a woman's life that can't return again, it's the happiest day of all women, a day to look beautiful, a day to cry and laugh together, a day you will never forget” she said smiling holding her hands “Of course you are right mum, it's a day I will never forget, the worst day of my life, I don't feel like crying or laughing, I feel like punching someone so hard uhhhhhh” Avery said and slumped on the chair. “My darling, you look beautiful as always, you will love him, you will be happy, that I'm sure of.” Amma said calmly “Now get up and let me see you properly” Avery stood up on her feet and the makeup artist straightened her dress.. Amma looks at her and tears started pouring from her eyes. “Mum, why are you crying? I didn't do anything.” Avery said worried. “No baby, it's not you… it just -” “Please don't, I promise I will go on with the wedding just don't cry” Avery said holding her mum's hand. “It's a dream for every mother to see their children getting married, I just didn't know it will be this soon, you've made me proud my darling. You've made your family proud” Amma said, wiping her tears. “I'm no longer crying. Please come out soon, we are late” she said sniffing with a smile and left. Avery sighs and slump on the chair. More drama awaits her.
