Wei POV
Well, this party just got really interesting I think to myself as I walk through the venue hall, hearing raised voices coming from the engagement party room. I am only attending this party because I want to see who managed to steal the heart of the girl I love, I have already heard about he treats her, but I wanted to see him with my own eyes. I never thought that it would end with me taking my bride to be home with me.
I met Rose ten years ago when I was a child, back then I was poor and living rough with my mother. I remember the day clearly; the weather was cold and my mother and I were starving so we had gone out begging for some money. Some other children in the neighbourhood enjoyed bullying me, it was their favourite past time, and when they saw me on the street begging it made their day.
They quickly surrounded me, kicked and punched me. All the time I was hoping to be knocked out so I wouldn’t have to feel the pain anymore, but then suddenly they stopped. I looked up cautiously to see a young girl standing in front of me holding a baseball bat pointed at the other boys and she was shouting at them.
At first, they laughed and one of them even went to attack her as well but the girl just hit him in the head with the baseball bat with a very loud banging sound, causing the others to quickly back off. Once they had gone, the girl gave me some candy and told me to stay safe before running away.
I never forgot her and a few years ago when I took over the company and gang, I got my men to investigate the girl, it was then that I learnt her name and situation. Rose is a smart girl but easily manipulated, some of my men infiltrated her company to protect her but even they were powerless at times.
I discovered that not long after saving me, Rose left the area because her mother died, and her father took her in. Little did Rose know that her mother was well off as she was the CEO and owner of a big clothing brand, however after Rose’s mother passed, her family abused and humiliated her and tried to cheat her out of everything.
But on her eighteenth birthday she got a letter from her solicitor, and it explained everything, after that she took back what was hers. What she never knew was that the solicitor who contacted her worked for me, I knew all along what was going on, but I was powerless to help until Rose came of age.
Her fiancé is a real piece of work from what I had heard, he was always abusing and using her to keep his mistress and himself having the good life.
“Sir, are you sure we should be here?” Kim, my head guard, asks me.
“Why shouldn’t we?” I ask back.
Kim nods his head and stands back behind me again.
Just as I walk into the room, I see Rose is about to be hit by her fiancé, my blood boils and I take great big steps towards the middle of the room where they are standing. Before the hand can make contact with Rose’s face, I grab it and hold it in the air.
“You dare to hit a woman?” I bellow at the man in front of me, my guards standing a few feet away, ready to step in if needed.
I catch Rose look from my arm to me from the corner of my eye, and I must admit shivers ran down me as she did so.
“Who are you?” Rose asks breathlessly, her black hair framing her beautiful face. Her blue eyes shinning bright and almost making me lose myself in them.
“There is always later.” I mumble, not sure if she heard me.
Rose’s hand flies to her mouth, “Did I say that out loud?” She asks quietly.
“Yes.” I reply, smiling widely at her antics.
“Let me go.” The fiancé growls, trying to get out of my grip but failing.
“You dare to hit a woman?” I repeat.
“She is mine, and I can do whatever I want.” The man spits while smirking at me.
Rose takes a deep breath before saying, “I am not yours and never will be.”
“Yes, you are, you are my fiancé.” Does this man want to lose his teeth? How dare he speak to someone like that?!
“You seriously think I am going to marry you after this?” Rose asks, pointing to him and all those around her before laughing darkly, sending shivers down my spine. Boy, I want to kiss her here right now! “Never.”
“Who in their right mind would marry a loser like you? You should be over the moon that I have agreed to marry you, we men always have a mistress on the side. Get used to it.” the man spits.
I am about to step forward and punch him but before I can Rose speaks, causing me and my men to stop and stare at her.
“I am marrying him.” Rose points to me.
I smirk at her, really? Sweet. I think to myself, this is easier than I thought.
“What?” the fiancé asks, breaking the silence.
“You heard her. We are getting married.” I reply coldly, pulling Rose into my side and draping my arm over her shoulders.
“Since when?” the fiancé asks.
“Since now.” I reply nonchalantly.
“Who are you?!” The fiancé asks.
“You don’t need to know.” I reply.
“You are stealing my fiancé; I would say I need to know.” He growls at me.
“You already have one, dog.” I respond, pointing Rose’s sister on his arm.
“Dog?!” He shouts.
“You.” I reply.
“How am I a dog?”
“You want to be in heat banging another girl then you are a dog. Although that is an insult to dogs.” I respond casually.
“BASTARD!” The fiancé shouts, taking a step forward and raining his fist.
THUD!
I send the man flying with one well timed punch right to the face, I am sure he has also lost a few teeth.
“YOU!” the man shouts, getting back to his feet.
I c***k my knuckles as my men surround Rose to keep her safe.
“You want to go again? I could do this all day.” I say coldly.
Helen runs to the man, clinging to his arm again.
“The ex-fiancé and the sister, you two make a lovely, rotten pair.” I say, eyeing them up with disgust.
“Yeah? Well you are just her second choice. Her after thought.” Helen sneers.
I shrug my shoulders. “At least she has standards, clearly something that you don’t have.” I respond.
Those around us snicker as Helen and the ex-fiancé go bright red.
“In a fight of fists or wits I beat you both easily. Enjoy your rutting, I am taking the diamond you lost.” I say, turning and picking Rose up in the princess style.
Rose surprises me by clinging to me, her head held high as my men and I take her away.
“Thank you.” Rose mutters as I put her down and open the car door for her.
“That is what your fiancé is for.” I reply, smiling and winking at her which causes her to blush.
She rushes to get into the car as I chuckle.
I walk around the back and get into the seat next to her, my driver already having been informed to take us to the marriage license office.
“What is your name?” Rose asks me quietly after being silent for a few minutes.
“Wei Lahn.” I respond, smiling a bit at the sharp intake of breath before I continue. “Now, let’s go and get our marriage certificate.”
