The Dark Lightning Legacy: Legends of Snezhnaya

Written by [Fate Novachrono]

The Dark Lightning Legacy: Legends of Snezhnaya is an original fantasy light novel series written and created by [Fate Novachrono]. Set in the frost-bound continent of Snezhnaya, where seven nations coexist under the eternal snow, the story explores a world where every person is born with an Essentia Element — a life force tied to one of nature’s primal powers: fire, water, wind, earth, ice, lightning, or darkness.

The series follows Frixx Tempest, a quiet boy from the impoverished Yuki Nation, known for his snow-white hair and gentle nature — but burdened by a secret that could change the fate of the world. Born as the f*******n child of Lougan Tempest, the feared Demonlord of the Ozen Realm, and Shizu Shimura, a Cryo-user exiled for her love, Frixx carries within him the cursed element of Dark Lightning — a power that doesn’t burn or shock, but devours light itself.

At just ten years old, Frixx discovers the Ancient Roan Scythe, a sentient weapon that feeds on emotion and grows stronger through its wielder’s will. His journey begins in hardship — surviving the frozen streets of Yuki Village, learning to control his unstable power, and hatching his mythical companion, Fahra, a phoenix of blue flame. But his destiny shifts when he enrolls in the Arcadian Demon Slayer Academy, an elite institution that unites the seven nations to fight demonic threats from the mysterious Ozen Realm — the same realm that birthed his father.

There, Frixx must hide his true lineage while mastering his dual Essentia — Cryo and Dark Lightning — under constant suspicion and prejudice. Alongside his childhood friend and healer Zemy Weaver of the Aomi Nation, and facing his fiery rival Raegan Akatsuka from Akuma, Frixx struggles to find balance between his humanity and the darkness within.

As whispers of the Essentia Cores and the resurgence of demon activity grow louder, secrets buried beneath the academy begin to unravel. Unbeknownst to the students, Headmaster Veyloth and the ancient generals of the Ozen Realm are moving in shadows — their plans converging on Frixx as the prophesied “Bridge Between Realms.”

Caught between two bloodlines, Frixx must decide whether to suppress his heritage… or embrace the storm that could either save or destroy all of Snezhnaya.

Chapter One: The Boy from the Frozen Nation
The land of Snezhnaya was a world of colors and elements. Each person was born with a power marked by the color of their hair — the people of wind had silver and violet, the people of fire had red and orange, those of water had magenta and pink, and the people of ice had white and gray. Together, they lived across seven great nations spread under the endless snow. But far beneath the surface was the Ozen Realm, the dark underworld where demons lived. Their hair was black, their power strong, and their hearts often cruel. People feared them, for they carried powers that twisted the natural elements into something darker. At the edge of this world stood a small, quiet village in the Yuki Nation, where snow fell all year and food was scarce. Most people there lived by fishing, trading ice, or hunting for what little could survive the cold. In this poor and forgotten village lived a small boy named Frixx Tempest. He was five years old, thin, and pale, with snow-white hair that shimmered in the frost. His mother, Shizu Shimura, loved him dearly and often told him stories about the world beyond Yuki. His father, Lougan Tempest, was gone — a name no one in the village dared to speak. Frixx only knew that his father was once a great warrior who lived deep in the Ozen Realm, far below the snow. Even as a child, Frixx was different. The other children would play outside, forming shapes in the snow with their Cryo powers. Frixx could do that too — but sometimes, when he became angry or afraid, his hands would spark with black light. It wasn’t normal lightning. It didn’t shine — it swallowed light. When that happened, the snow around him turned gray, and his mother would rush to cover him with her arms. “Don’t ever show that power to anyone,” she whispered each time. “Promise me, Frixx. The people of Yuki wouldn’t understand.” So Frixx trained in secret. Every morning before dawn, he went to the frozen cliffs behind their cottage. He learned to control his Cryo powers, shaping ice into blades and shards, freezing drops of water in the air. But when he grew tired, when his fear or anger took over, the dark sparks returned — small streaks of Dark Lightning that danced across his skin. His hair would darken from white to black, and his blue eyes turned red for a moment. He didn’t understand why he had both powers — only that one made him belong to Yuki, and the other made him feel like a stranger. Life in Yuki was hard. Many nights, Frixx and his mother ate only a small bowl of soup. Their house creaked from the cold wind, and the fishing nets froze before they could use them. Yet Shizu never complained. “Even the weakest flame can survive in the cold if it has a reason to burn,” she always said. Frixx’s reason came when he was seven. That winter, while searching for firewood near the forest caves, he found a small egg resting on a bed of blue frost. It glowed faintly, warm to the touch. He felt something alive inside — something lonely. He brought it home and showed it to his mother. “It’s a phoenix egg,” Shizu said, her eyes wide. “But… phoenixes live in fire, not ice.” Still, Frixx refused to abandon it. Every day, he kept it close to his chest, warming it near their small fire, speaking to it as if it could hear him. “Don’t worry,” he whispered, “I’ll keep you safe.” One night, during a snowstorm, the egg cracked open. A small bird, covered in glowing blue feathers, blinked at him. Its flame burned cold instead of hot, its body giving off soft light instead of heat. Frixx smiled for the first time in a long while. “I’ll call you… Fahra,” he said. The bird chirped and nuzzled his cheek. From that day, they were inseparable. Fahra perched on his shoulder when he trained and followed him even through the blizzards. When he used his dark lightning, Fahra’s blue flames wrapped around him, keeping the power from getting out of control. At ten years old, Frixx’s life changed again. He began dreaming of a mountain — tall, sharp, and surrounded by black clouds. In the dream, he heard a voice: “Climb, child of thunder and frost. The weapon that knows your soul awaits.” He told his mother, and though she looked afraid, she didn’t stop him. “If this is your path,” she said softly, “then face it with courage.” So he climbed Mount Byakuyu, a mountain feared by the villagers. The wind cut through his coat, and the snow blinded his eyes, but he kept going. Fahra flew ahead, guiding him with her light. At the summit, he found a stone pedestal, half-buried in ice. Inside it was a black scythe, cold as death but humming with power — The Ancient Roan Scythe. The moment Frixx touched it, a surge of energy rushed through him. His hair turned black, his eyes glowed red, and black lightning spiraled around him, cracking the ice beneath his feet. The scythe spoke without words, its voice echoing in his heart: “You have suffered. You have endured. You are chosen.” But Frixx didn’t feel chosen. He felt scared. The storm he had created roared around him, yet Fahra’s blue flames wrapped around his arm, calming the darkness until it faded away. When he returned home, he carried the scythe wrapped in cloth. His mother knew what it was — an ancient weapon born from the war between the nations and the demons long ago. That night, as snow fell outside their small window, Frixx looked at the weapon and whispered, “I’ll use this to protect people. I don’t want to become like him… I’ll become a Demon Slayer.” His mother smiled, tears shining in her eyes. “Then promise me, Frixx. Whatever power you gain, never lose your heart.” He nodded. He didn’t know how hard that promise would be to keep. Because deep beneath the frozen earth, in the Ozen Realm, his father smiled too — sensing that his son’s dark lightning had finally awakened. And so began the story of the boy from the frozen nation — the child of ice and storm, whose name would one day be feared across all of Snezhnaya.
