We Talked...

"Are you OK?" he asked, and I shook my head and grimaced. I let out another colorful curse and held my elbow. "Could I get a cup of ice?" he asked the barista while he gently placed a hand on my back and led me to an empathy table. "Here, sit" "It's OK now" I said, shaking out my arm and flexing my elbow. "The ice will prevent any swelling," he added, as he took the cup of ice handed to him by a member of his team. He placed it on my elbow and moved it in circles. "Thank you" "You're welcome. It is kinda my fault for surprising you" he said with a smile. "Oh, but what a surprise. I never thought I could meet you until I got to see one of your shows." "Are you coming to my concert?" "No, I have work and I didn't plan for it. My goal is to go to your last show in the U.S. It will be in L. A, right?" "Yes, in another couple of weeks." "I have been planning for it" "Oh yeah, how long have you been a fan?" "Just a year really. I found you by complete coincidence." "Yeah?" "I watch a lot of Thai drama and YouTube gave me the recommendation for your Woody Allen interview. I watched it and felt drawn to you. I researched you after and fell in love." "Do you have a favorite?" "I can't say favorite, but I have top ones that I listen to on repeat. I absolutely loved the world building you did." "You don't think it's too different from what I used to do?" "Are you happy and proud of the work you did?" "Yes, of course. I put a lot of time and effort into the album." "Then everything else does not matter. I said I am a new fan, I am just learning about you. Watching your interview gave me the idea that you are in a time of metamorphosis. I am enjoying the journey." "Thank you" he said with a smile that caused his eyes to crinkle at the edges. I suddenly shivered and looked down at the cup of ice he was still rubbing on my elbow. "Too cold?" "I guess so. It should be enough anyway." I glanced around, since the feeling was from getting a very scary look. I found the source from one of the girls on his team. I looked directly at her and saw her roll her eyes and glance away. I chuckled at the ridiculousness of it. "So are you from this city?" "No, I am here for work. I am from Jamaica. Meloney, nice to meet you" "Jamaica, huh? I have heard it is beautiful." "Oh no doubt it is beautiful. You should visit." "Maybe I will. What kind of work do you do?" "I am a quality advocate. I work for a call center and ensure call quality in terms of customer service is up to standard." "Oh, interesting." "Not at all, it's a lot of repetition and meetings." "Then why are you doing it?" "Cause I can't afford to do what I really want. I did not do college well and had to drop out. This job does not require a college degree." "And what do you really want to do?" "Hmm, well, 2 main things. I want to have either a charity to help disadvantaged kids or open an orphanage or children's home. And I want to be an author." "Two very nice career choices, why haven't you pursued either?" "The 1st one really requires money. I am short on that. I am working on the second one though. I am hoping to eventually take some classes on creative writing." "It's important to go after your dreams. I do appreciate that life happens but we still need to find our own version of happiness." "What if, I am happy but know I would be happier making someone else happy?" "Even better I say, go after what you love?" "I am so happy you said that. Thank you. I am going to make every effort to do exactly that." "Good for you. I have to go now. I hope I will see you at the L.A concert." "I don't think you will remember me." "Oh but I will Meloney. That's a promise." "Have a wonderful concert, see you again in a couple of weeks." I stood as he left and his team followed. I sat back in the chair and pinched my arm to make sure I was awake. I cannot believe he was here, and I talked to him, and he touched me. I put my face in my hands and had a little fan girl scream moment. This has been the best thing that happened to me and I am over the moon. I immediately called my friend and told her what happened. I knew I had to go home to bask in the moment some more.
