The Billionaire's Hidden Wife
Chapter 1: A Desperate Choice
Emma Johnson tightened her grip on the hospital bill as her hands trembled. The numbers blurred before her eyes.
$250,000.
That was the amount she needed to save her father.
"Miss Johnson," the doctor said gently, "your father's heart surgery cannot be delayed any longer. Without it..."
He didn't need to finish the sentence.
Emma nodded weakly and left the office, fighting back tears. She had already worked two jobs, sold her mother's jewelry, and borrowed money from everyone she knew. There was no one left to ask.
Her phone rang.
"Emma, you're late!" her manager shouted. "If you're not here in ten minutes, don't bother coming back!"
She hurried toward the hotel where she worked as a waitress. Tonight, the city's wealthiest businessmen were attending an exclusive charity gala.
She never imagined that one of them would change her life forever.
As Emma served drinks, a drunken guest grabbed her wrist.
"Stay with me tonight," he slurred.
She tried to pull away.
"Please let me go."
Before the man could touch her again, a cold voice echoed through the ballroom.
"Take your hands off her."
Everyone turned.
A tall man in a perfectly tailored black suit stood at the entrance. His sharp features, icy gaze, and commanding presence silenced the room instantly.
Alexander Knight.
The billionaire CEO whose name dominated every business magazine.
The drunk man immediately released Emma.
"I... I didn't know she was yours."
Alexander's expression remained unreadable.
"She isn't."
He looked directly at Emma.
"Follow me."
Confused but unable to refuse, Emma followed him to a private lounge.
Alexander placed a file on the table.
"I know your father needs surgery."
Emma froze.
"How do you know that?"
"I know everything about the people I hire."
"Hire?"
"I need a wife."
Emma stared at him, convinced she had misheard.
"What?"
"A contract marriage."
He slid the papers toward her.
"You'll be my wife for one year. In return, I'll pay for your father's surgery and every medical expense."
Emma's heart pounded.
"Why me?"
"Because you're invisible to the media, you have no criminal record, and you need money."
His tone was calm, as though discussing a business deal.
"There will be rules. You will never fall in love with me. You will obey the terms of the contract. When the year ends, we walk away."
Emma looked at the hospital bill in her trembling hands.
Then she looked at the contract lying on the table.
One signature could save her father's life...
But it might destroy her own.
To be continued...
