Battle of Words

Kate didn’t flinch from the continuous stares she’s getting from Alex , who didn’t look like he will stop anytime soon

Few minutes after his mom had left , he had refused saying a word , and had kept looking at her like she’s a statue

She knows he doesn’t like her and do not want her as his bodyguard, judging from his conversations with his mother , and his reactions . However she wondered , why he doesn’t seize the opportunity when his mother had proposed the idea of replacing her with a man

In fact , she’s more baffled by his mum than she is with him , why would she want to employ a lady as his son bodyguard, without his knowledge and consent

But she doesn’t really care, does she

What matter is that she’s already been hired , and she needs to put all her effort in executing her job , get paid and take care of her family

She really doesn’t care about the mother and son drama

She wishes he would put sentiments aside , cooperates with her which will make it easier , and everyone would be fine

Soon , she’s getting tired of the stares , as she wishes he would direct her to a room as his mom said , she really needs to settle down now , then others can follow

She do not mind the staring competition happening later on

All she want right now is to settle down and tidy up

“ So, you’re my bodyguard …” His sudden word broke her out of her chain of thought

She’s a little bit surprised as she was not expecting him to talk but nevertheless , she answered .”Yes ,I am.”

“Oh.” He let out a mockery smile .”Don’t you think I should be the one to guard and protect you .”

“ No , I don’t think so.” She said bluntly, with a normal expression on her face

“Uh.” He smirked .” So , you really believe you’re capable of protecting me .”

Just where did she get her confidence from …? Like what gave her the morale she could guide a guy like her

“With the little time I’ve spent in training , and with some of the experiences I have , that shouldn’t be too difficult.” She said , professionally .

Alex started to get annoyed , as he was not expecting her to be this blunt , and also pretending to understand the green light he’s showing her

“Fine , since you’re very capable .” He stood up .” I want you to make me fall , then I will really accept you as my bodyguard.”

He smirked , knowing it would be very difficult for her , as he stand firmly on the ground

“ Okay then .” She said , and immediately stood up and walk up to him

She grabbed his hand before he know it , and made him fall on his feet , before he could process his six senses to defend against her

She then walked back to her seat and sat down

“ What the hell was that .” He muttered , obviously angry

“ I carried out the task you gave me .” She replied , with an innocent expression

She only executed the task he gave her so why is he blaming her?

“ You cheated , you didn’t even alert me or anything , you just did it as soon as you walk up to me .”

“ You gave a task yourself and you should know I’m here to carry it out immediately I stood up , I don’t see any reason I need to alert you , the moment you gave the task , you should be at alert already , and moreover , I can see how you balanced your standing, you’re obviously at alert already .” She explained calmly

He’s yet annoyed by her bluntness

Maybe she’s just too fast before his brain could process for him to be able to fight back , however he refuse to yield

He doesn’t believe she could win him on a one on one combat , if he were to take it really serious

Though she’s a woman , she’s some training, and she must have learn some tricks which make sense for her to win the task he gave

He didn’t take it serious anyway , if it were to be more serious , he doubted she could stand against him

He considered her just lucky

“ I just allow you win because you’re a woman , I don’t wanna drag it with you , in reality if I were to take it serious , you can’t stand me at all , moreover you must have learn many tricks at your organization so it’s not a surprise for your win .” He uttered in a serous tone .

Kate smiled inside of her , she doesn’t believe he can be this petty

“ I will be straightforward, I don’t want you as my bodyguard, you can’t be , in fact I don’t want a bodyguard and if I would want one later , can never be a lady like you .” He opened up .

“Since you don’t want me , why then didn’t you not allow your mother replace me since you don’t want a lady.” She questioned .

He had pretended to accept her because he thought she will be easy to control and intimidate as a woman, he knows if he didn’t accepted her , his desperate mother will probably employed a man who will give him headache but a lady willl be fragile and he can easily toss her away and get rid of her

“ Well , I didn’t want you to be replaced because I don’t want to be a bad person , because automatically I ripped you of your new found job , and it might be difficult for you to get a new one , which may result to you hating me.” He lied , feeling proud of himself

She must be grateful in her heart right now , after hearing this , not knowing in actual sense , he don’t care about her but only want to use her

“ If it’s about getting a job , you don’t have to worry , my organization is one of the most influential and popular with qualified bodyguards , so if you’re concern about me getting a job , there’s no need for that , if you decided you don’t need my services anymore today , I can be employed by another person today , so that shouldn’t be a problem.” She explained , in a reserved tone

He bit the tip of his tongue , hating her bluntness the more , he didn’t expect her to be this good with words , annoying him the more , for every words he said , she kept cornering him

“ I don’t care about how influential your organization is, I have no business with that.” He paused and then continued .” I will give you something more beneficial, I don’t know how much mum will be paying you , you can receive your pay , and I will pay you again , all I need from you is to maintain your lane , and not indulge in my life , you can just join them in doing household work , but will be on the pretense of a bodyguard whenever my mum is around , I’m being very nice , am I not , you don’t even need to give yourself pressure of working .” He smiled , very sure she will agree of his arrangement

Like who who would not ..?

“ I’m sorry but I can’t agree with your proposal as it has no sort of benefit to me whatsoever, I will only render the services I’m employed for , moreover if anything were to happen to you as a result of me not executing my job , not only would my contract as a bodyguard be terminated, no other company would accept me , and even there could be more repercussions as I was not doing my job , this is my first assigned job , I will imploy you to please not make things difficult for me , and if you still don’t want me , you should let me return so I can be employed somewhere my services will be really needed .”She explained .

“ You mean this is your first assigned job , I can’t believe not only a weak lady was assign to me as a bodyguard, she’s even a rookie with no experience, and you’re boosting of being a qualified bodyguard , let’s say we’re ambushed by a group of men , how well can you protect yourself talkless of protecting me .” He laughed mockingly

“ You need to know not only strength is required for a bodyguard work , I.Q is also greatly needed , I might be able to save the both of us from the group of men even without fighting , all I need is my brain and six senses to figure out what will be safe for us , and moreover , you don’t know the strength I possessed , you should stop underestimating me , we can both work together if you don’t make things difficult…” She said , starting to get tired

Honestly , she doesn’t why she’s unlucky and has never imagined her first assignment will be to guide a spoilt son of a rich family

And didn’t he already said , he would accept her as his bodyguard if she succeeded in making him fall , she did that , yet he’s being corny and petty

He should let her go if he doesn’t want her instead of wasting her time

“I.Q is needed.” He smirked , referring to her , making mention of I.Q earlier in her words

So that means he is the one with no I.Q to figure the way out, this lady just kept getting him more annoyed

“Fine , I accept you as my bodyguard since you are so confident , you should get ready , mrs bodyguard , I’m going shopping , and you need to follow me as my bodyguard right , I’m going upstairs now , and by the time I will be downstairs , you should be ready as well .” He said , standing on his feet

Since she refused to take his honest deal, and accepts his generosity, he will show her she’s just a weak lady and will frustrates her life

Who knows she will be the one to resign herself .?

“Before that , can I be given a room to settle down .” She said immediately before he’s out of sight

“Oh right .” He nodded.

He removed his phone from his pocket and dialed a number “ Hey Nicole , come here and get this lady a room to stay .”

He’s too lazy to shout her name , so he resolves to calling her on phone instead

“ Which room boss.” Nicole answered on the phone,already on her way

“ I don’t know , just anyone .” He hung up , and walk upstairs and not long Nicole arrived .

“ I want a room close to his , it might not be too close , however ,it shouldn’t be too far .” Kate said to Nicole immediately she sighted her

“ Oh okay .” She nodded , since the boss didn’t mention any particular room either

“ Follow me .” She said , and Kate follow right behind her
