Chapter 3: Celebrating Victory

1603 Words
The next morning after Mshapas’ resurrection; Taita villages are seen up the hills, sky filled with fog, grass soaked in morning dew, it is very cold. Birds are in a celebration mood, cows, goats, donkeys, and sheep join the birds in singing too. Another fresh morning with an abundance of happiness. Smoke from the huts all over the village goes up in glory, every homestead is preparing breakfast. God has blessed the land, no one is that hungry. Yams, sweet potatoes, cassava, pumpkin, and fruits are in plenty. Mothers must be boiling yums and roasting cassava which will be taken with black tea as breakfast. This kind of breakfast will give them strength and vigor required to participate fully at today's celebrations.  For those with modern houses are busy cleaning, everyone seems to be busy so that they can have time to go for celebrations. It is already ten o’clock in the morning, celebrations are supposed to begin at twelve o’clock. At the park, the podium is already in place, children have already arrived. They always love such events to see how their elders do things.  Long time friends who never agree on anything, Brian and Tole meet at a road intersection heading to the park where celebrations will take place. Brian; “Mr. Tole good morning sir, I thought today you would not come”  “Am I not part of this community? Having a different view about something does not make me an outcast or cease me from participating in my people’s activity” Brain tapped him on the shoulder, “Calm down my friend, I was just messing with you ” “You know what, do you understand that people change with time, you personally have experienced a change in your life? Or the values you had when you were young are still intact?”  “I have experienced an enormous metamorphosis in my life and I keep on changing each day” Brian replied. “That is really great, people change, science itself changes, knowledge also progresses with time, that is why we have really advanced in science and technology today, because of the capacity of scalability” “I agree with you fully, welcome to our camp and support our commander in changing the world” “Are you certain Mshapa will change the world or are you guys having infatuation because for me am still skeptical about all these claims” “You sound as an imposter, and you have two choices, either join the movement or be on the other side, being lukewarm is low” “How will Mshapa be successful in changing the world yet he lacks international connections, does he know anyone in other parts of the world, and even here in Taita, does he?” “At times connections do not matter, currently, what matters is that the masses of the world are not happy with many things happening now. I am sure these multitudes will join and support Mshapa in changing the world into a better and amazing place.” They arrived at the park, it was full of children, youths and the old. Traditional dancers from different villages were present, modern musicians were present too. It is interesting how this community blends modernity and the traditions that they cherish dearly together. At the dais, the elders, local leaders, Mr. Kibo and Mshapa sat. Mshapa was dressed in a kingly gown, goldish and red ribbons on the waist and hands. The master of ceremony (MC) called on a group by group to present their piece, poems, comedy, songs, and narrations were presented. The MC was active and entertaining, the multitudes laughed heartily, they enjoyed victory over death. They were celebrating their commander, Mr. Mshapa. The MC invited the head elder Mr. Pepo to speak. Drums, cheers, and horns were heard in honor of our elders. Pepo held the microphone and waved at the people. “Taita yee” The multitudes responded “yee yee yee” “It is another beautiful day our Lord has given us, a day of victory, a victory over death” People listened attentively, no government official had come here due to obvious reasons, but since time immemorial the government has never had hold of the Taita hills, it is always a no go zone for them, people here are very hostile especially to leaders with no vision and ambition. People here love justice, good morals, and good leadership. The government in a way had killed Mshapa as he was a staunch activist against all atrocities committed by the government of the day. Pepo continued.  “We are here to celebrate our commander and commission a new mission of changing the world. We do not care how the other side will see us, no matter what, we are not a militia but rather the people and we demand accountability and tranquility in how our so-called leaders govern us. Join me and invite Mr. Kibo, our wise father.”  Cheering, drums, and horns are heard from the multitudes in honor of Mr. Kibo. He is very old now, age has taken a toll on him and still, he has a role to play as a father to the community. He seems to be eager to see his son taking charge so that he can rest peacefully after. He holds the microphone shakingly and addresses the people. “Am glad that you came, children, youths, mothers and fathers, well done my people. Let me assure you that you are the chosen people to bring change to this planet earth. Children ensure you work hard and smart at school, respect your ethics and societal ethics, stand for something to avoid falling for anything. We have seen learned fellows behaving like mad people, they steal tax for their stomachs, what a shame for humanity. We should all yarn to build a sober planet, and we need to reform this planet which was given by our good Lord. We have everything we need to win this war, and that is our minds. We shall use our minds wisely and achieve our goals. I would love to take this chance to thank you again for believing in this mission.  I love you, my people. Now join me to invite my son, whom we are celebrating today, Mshapa welcome!” “Yee, yee, yee, yee” Cheers fill the air, both children, women, and men jump up and down in excitement.  It was just yesterday when they were at the entombment ceremony, ready to bury their supposed leader. All are happy but still in shock and disbelief. What they don’t know, more wonders and shocking experiences awaits them in the future. Mshapa stands and waves for the multitude, “My people, my people, victory is here, we are winning this!” “Yee, yee, yee, we are winners, we are unbeatable!” People are heard shouting and replying. “We are here today to celebrate the victory we just had. Our enemies thought they had finished me, but I am here. Today as we celebrate this victory, I would love us to contemplate what exactly we want to achieve. We are fighting bad leadership, which is made of a few individuals taking advantage of the majority. They come up with crazy projects in the name of helping people but in the real sense, they want to benefit themselves. When I mention bad leadership I do not purport bad politicians only, I mean all with authorities and are using it wrongly, doctors, policemen, businessmen, teachers, all people with ill intent. Corruption has crippled our planet, no good health services, our environment is depleting, public funds embezzled, people have become self-centered, all they care about is themselves. They forget by doing that, they are shitting in their own plates where they eat food from.  Also, we would love to deal with human behaviors, things have really changed. When you compare how our forefathers socialized and how we do it today, it's a shame, our forefathers would curse us if they woke up today. What is happening within us today is disgraceful and bleeding us bad. We will come up with a proper solution. Our women and children are being harassed in one way or another, we shall bring justice and sanity to mankind. These people kill, for them solving a problem is to take other people’s life. We need to fight this inhuman and devilish acts out of our planet. How we shall do it don't worry, we got everything at our disposal. All I need is your support, the blueprint is available, we shall execute it bit by bit.” Rumors had spread all over, some people were not happy especially those who orchestrated his assassination. These people included rogue politicians, businessmen, and envoys from within and abroad. They felt Mshapa was stopping them from doing what profited them and tried to use their system against him. Now that the commander is back, they must be furious and will definitely plan to do something fishy again. The commander continued speaking passionately about the new plan. “Let us all join hands and fight for a fair and justice society. The world is a village, we need to think with a single ideology and we shall be able to achieve peace and harmony which never was. As I finish addressing you, we slaughtered several cows for celebrations, ensure you eat before going home. Children ensure you enjoy the meal, thank you all for coming, enjoy.” The multitudes cheered their commander and scattered around in preparing for feasting food and drinks. This was the best moment for children, food. Eating together is always fun. As people prepared themselves to eat, military vans were seen from a distance moving very fast towards the park, leaving a trail of dust behind flying up. The multitudes seemed confused, some started to scream others running. They knew the wrath of soldiers was coming and no one was going to wait for this.
