The Future of the Pack

SAMUELS POV I stood there mesmerized by the picture in my hands. Chloe, my mate, was an Alpha by blood. "Thats her." I whisper. "Honey, are you sure?" My mom asked me. "I would recognize those eyes anywhere," I stated. My mother came up to me, grabbing my arms. Causing me to look at her face, fear and concern written all over it. "Sammy, you need to listen to me," she started. "If Chloe is your mate, then you need to protect her." She says, shaking me. I looked at her confused, not understanding why she would ever think I would let harm come to my mate, " Of course, I'll keep her safe, mother." I said, trying to calm her, but she didn't seem reassured. She backs away and I notice her take a side glance at my father, a pained expression on her face for only a brief second before its gone and her face goes emotion less. "We don't know how Chloe is alive, Samuel." My father cuts in. "Somehow she escaped and ended up here, but that is all we have to go off of. For all we know, she could be in line with the witches." He says as his face becomes serious, he turns away and heads back to his desk, sitting down in his chair and putting his face in his hands, before looking up at me again. "We need to take the necessary precautions, Samuel. You can't let her know you're her mate." My dad says with seriousness. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CANT TELL HER!" Ash yells through me, threatening to shift out of rage. He finally learned our mate was a werewolf and now my dad threatened that bond for him. My dad stands up, anger plastered on his face. The happiness he felt earlier learning about his son finding his future Luna was gone. "STAND DOWN ASH!" My father shouts in his alpha tone. I bare my neck, succumbing to the alpha command, before Ash returns control to me. "You don't have the right to keep me from my mate, Father." I tell him, "I am the alpha! You don't get to threaten the safety of this pack!" He growled. "If you make her Luna, she will have our entire pack under her command. She could hand them all over to the witches!" "and what of her? If the witches are after her, she's unprotected." I said, my voice low, but rumbling from anger. "She will be watched over," He answers me with a head nod. "But as I said, you may not mate with her. That is an order." "you cant-" I tried to object, before a roar echoed through the room. "IT IS DONE! YOU ARE DISMISSED!" He commands. Forcing me to exit his office as I hear my mother start berating my father, I shake my head, filled with rage. I don't wait to get outside before I shift into my wolf. Ash takes control, running through the hallways and jumping down the stairs, startling an omega maid who had been cleaning. He doesn't stop as he heads toward the entrance and crashes through the pack houses' front doors, breaking them in the process. He rolls down the front steps and stands up shaking off the wood chips that coat his fur. He turns his head towards the sky and opens his mouth, letting out a loud anger-filled howl that can be heard throughout the pack lands, before he turns towards the woods and starts running, picking up speed as he breaks through the tree line. What if he is right? I ask Ash. Your father is a coward. He snaps at me. My father is thinking about what's best for the pack, which is something we should be doing. I say Then that makes you a coward as well. He tells me before putting up a mind block, pushing me to the back of our mind. Several hours later By the time Ash takes down the block, its the middle of the night and we are back at the packhouse. He seems happier than he was earlier and I figure he must have had a good hunt. I shift into my human form and head up the steps of the packhouse, Noticing the door's have been fixed and the entry room cleaned. I headed up quickly to my room, not wanting to be caught walking around naked in the middle of the night. Werewolves are used to being naked as it's a natural part of our existence, but that doesn't mean I want to give the shewolves any ideas. Especially after the day I had. I don't even bother showering and instead throw on some shorts and lay in bed. As I closed my eyes and finally started to fall asleep, I noticed it. I shoot up out of bed and take a whiff of myself. My eyes went wide. The faintest hint of cinnamon on my skin.
