Chapter I - One Way
"Do you even fear monsters that may be lurking in the forests?" the little girl clutches on her little doll as she supports her body to sit on the high chair. "Well, little one, there is always something strange in the forest. The thing is—" Umier sat down beside the little girl looking up to him with beseeching eyes. "—you just always have to be ready for it." he smiled and gently poked the tip of her tiny nose.
"Ready for what?" she asks curiously. Umier suddenly drained from the thought. He's merely a human and encountered some beasts fascinating and sometimes deadly, remembering that he almost died on his last trip fighting a two-headed bear-like creature. "Are you scared?" He quickly but gently turned to the girl. "Come again?"
"I said, are you scared?" she repeated in a calm tone.
"Do you think I'm scared?" he smirks, lighting his cigar. "Do I look scared to you?"
"You look strong but I fear the monsters as well so I ask you." His smirk gently turns into a laugh. "Don't worry lass, it's either I give up or die fighting." he taps her soft subtle cheeks and picks up his humongous axe that housed their family for millenniums, the axe that has been passed down from the firstborn to successor to another. "If I die this time kid, remember..." he stops midway before the door. "I am still Umier, the 100th successor of the family of Iron Smiths." The little girl's smile almost reached her eyes, with the fear of her father might not be able to come back home in a few day's time, she showered him with kisses and sealed it with a tight hug. "Old man, please come back home before my birthday..."
"Sure kid." He spent a short while packing up his quirks before saying his final goodbyes to his daughter and gallantly mounted Marmalut II.
'I fear that this journey might not end well my little lass...but I promise you, I will definitely come back before your precious birthday...'
