The Descent into Mortality
A fierce wind howled, and thunder roared. At the critical moment of transcending the tribulation, Xuantian Xianzun sensed an overwhelming force of destruction. Accompanied by the purple lightning tribulation, his primordial spirit was on the verge of collapse. However, in the final moments, he forcibly concentrated his consciousness, employing a secret method to preserve a fragment of his soul, hoping to rely on reincarnation for rebirth and await the day he could re-enter the path of cultivation.
Amidst the dissipation of his consciousness, he felt himself being drawn by an invisible force, drifting toward a distant and unfamiliar time and space. As his memories faded into obscurity, his last awareness was enveloped in a warm and soft embrace, and then he fell into boundless darkness...
When he regained consciousness, he found himself lying in a warm cradle, surrounded by gentle murmurs and unfamiliar scents. He attempted to open his eyes, and through his blurred vision, he saw a smiling face—a young woman gently stroking his cheek.
"Have I... been reincarnated?" Xuantian Xianzun felt it was unbelievable, but at the same time, he clearly realized that he had indeed escaped the destruction of the Heavenly Tribulation and reincarnated into a new world—a place filled with the essence of mortals. Although his memories were hazy and he had lost his magical powers, the memories of being an immortal still remained clear.
In this life, his name was "Su Yu," a child from an ordinary family. He could sense that he was now just a baby, unable to manipulate spiritual energy or cast spells, and his body was incredibly frail. But he was not disheartened because he knew he retained the memories of his previous life and possessed knowledge and wisdom that set him apart from ordinary people; this would serve as the foundation for him to embark on the path of cultivation again.
As the years flew by, Su Yu gradually grew up. In the eyes of ordinary people, he was just a clever and precocious child, but only he understood that within this mortal body lay the memories of his past life as an immortal. Even as a young child, he displayed a remarkable calmness and wisdom, which brought both comfort and occasional bewilderment to his parents.
By the age of five, Su Yu could effortlessly recite the poems his parents taught him and showed a keen interest in classical literature. From a young age, he could control his emotions, rarely crying or throwing tantrums, and he always approached situations with a calm mindset. Although his parents were puzzled, they took great pride in their child's maturity, believing him to be exceptionally gifted.
However, Su Yu knew that life in this world was far from as simple as it appeared. As he grew older, he began to quietly observe this world and gradually discovered that this era was entirely different from the realm of cultivation he had known in his previous life. There was no flow of spiritual energy, no immortal mountains or temples, and no profound inheritance of spells. Mortals relied on technology for their existence, and hardly anyone understood spiritual energy, let alone spoke of the path of cultivation. This was a world of mortals, a world where re-entering the path of immortality was not easily achievable.
Yet, Su Yu's resolve remained unshaken. Despite the mundane and trivial nature of his current life, he never forgot the path he had walked in his previous life. In an effort to recover even a hint of spiritual energy, he meditated in the quiet of the night, attempting to sense familiar waves of magical power, but each time he met with failure.
At the age of ten, he accidentally discovered a jade pendant he used to carry with him—an item he thought he had lost after his rebirth. The pendant was kept as a family heirloom in the drawer of his room, emanating a gentle glow that seemed to contain a hint of spirituality. As Su Yu held the pendant, he faintly sensed a familiar aura, a weak spiritual force connected to his primordial spirit.
"This pendant truly has a connection to me," he murmured to himself, hope blossoming for the first time, "Even in a world with thin spiritual energy, I will definitely find a way back to the path of cultivation."
From that moment on, Su Yu regarded this pendant as the opportunity to embark on his journey of cultivation anew. By day, he lived and went to school like an ordinary child, adapting to the rhythm of modern society; by night, he secretly held the pendant, meditating to sense the weak spiritual energy within. Though this bit of energy was negligible, Su Yu remained undeterred and even more determined.
As time passed, Su Yu gradually mastered the use of this weak spiritual energy and could faintly perceive some fluctuations in the aura around him. Although he had yet to restore the powers of his previous life, he had gained an intuition that was greater than that of ordinary people—he could sense that there might be other mysterious forces existing in this mortal world.
All of this was just the beginning. He knew that his rebirth was no coincidence, and perhaps hidden within this mundane world lay a secret waiting for him to uncover...
