The curly haired girl smiled at teen in front of her and waved. "Thank you for earlier, I got to go check on my project now."
She turned to walk away when a hand grabbed her forearm. She looked back and saw a concentrated look on Archer's face. She lightly c****d her head in question and he opened his mouth but was cut off by a friendly voice.
"Hi Archer!"
The duo looked to see Moira, a tall beautiful, blonde girl with soft, chocolate brown eyes. Sunni blushed when those brown eyes stared with an intense look before they turned to Archer. The two seemed to have a silent conversation, one that made her feel like a third wheel.
Clearing her throat, the two looked to see Sunni trying to pull away from Archer's grip.
Archer apologizes and removes his grip. Before she could leave, Moira gave a smile and waved, a bit tense.
"Hi Sunni!"
Sunni gave a weird smile, startled that yet another person that's considered the top dog knew her name. Sunni gave a short wave. "H-hi Moira."
Moira smiled softly and pointed to the lower half of Sunni. "I like your outfit!"
The curly haired girl looked down at her outfit. A simple band t-shirt under one of her dad's green flannel, a mid thigh black skirt and combat boots. It was comfy but compared to Moira's fancier clothes, it made Sunni uncomfortable a bit.
"Thanks-"
Again, Moira cut off, placing a hand on Archer's bicep. "Sorry to cut you off but I really need to talk to Archer."
Sunni noticed the slight infuriated look Archer gave to Moira and nodded. "Oh yeah, that's cool . Cool...Cool, I just said that. Bye."
Before anyone could say anything else, Sunni turned around and sped off, completely ignoring Archer's call.
She doesn't know what the two were talked about but when she saw Moira in their third class of the day, she looked appalled and withdrawn. She wanted to ask if the blonde was alright but she had no reason to.
They weren't friends. Just two students trying to get through their last school year.
So she continued the rest of her day until the lunch bell rang. Packing up her stuff, she exits the classroom and walks to her locker. There must have been something in the air because most of the students that resided in the Birchwood seemed to be ecstatic about something, because they were laughing and smiling more than usual, goofing off like a bunch of teens.
Sunni supposed it's because they really were teens.
Shaking her head, she rushes over to her locker to avoid the crowd and is surprised to see Archer there, leaning next to it. As if he could feel her staring at him, his head turns to hers and a soft smile fills his face.
Her heartbeat picks up and suddenly she feels a bit clammy. Clearing her throat, she gives him a smile back before going to open her locker. "Hi Archer, classes going well?"
He nods before turning his body to face her and that's when she really sees the height difference now that he's closer. Craning her neck up, she notes the mixed emotions in his hazel eyes. Tilting her head, she gives him a questioning look.
"Were you waiting for me?" She asked, a bit hesitant. He blinks and to her shock, a light blush appears on his cheeks. She bites the inside of her cheek to repress the chuckle that threatens to leave her.
"I... actually wanted to talk to you, in private if you don't mind."
She perks up. They never speak outside of their morning lockers routine and even then it's usually disrupted by his friends or Moira. "Sure! I know a place!"
He looks eager at her agreement. "Thank you. Did you need to grab something from the cafeteria?"
Shaking her head, not noting the way Archer moved closer, she pulled out a container from her locker. "It's ok, I packed lunch."
He nods before pushing himself off the metal doors and motions her to lead the way. She closes her locker and walks side by side towards the school greenhouse that was run by her gardening/agriculture club. Pulling out the key to the gate, she gives a wink to Archer. "Perks to being VP of this club."
He laughs and Sunni's stomach twists at the deep sound. Shaking her head, she leads them over to the table near the back and sits down. Archer follows and they sit in silence for a bit. Quickly opening the container, she holds it out to the auburn haired senior. "You want one? I made them this morning."
He peers in and sees perfectly cut turkey sandwiches and takes one. He bites into it and is surprised at the abundance of flavor. He takes another bite and nods in thanks to Sunni, trying to gather his thoughts.
"So what did you want to talk about?"
Archer slows his chewing before swallowing and places his sandwich back in the container. He pressed his hands together and had a weird look on his face. Pausing, she places her sandwich in the container as well and turns to fully look at him.
"What would you do if the thing everyone expects you to do, isn't what you wanted to do?" Perplexed, Sunni nods for him to continue. "There's this one thing I want but I can't have it because of the circumstances in my situation. I'm ...in love with this girl and no one knows because she could be the downfall of everything my family has built and they want me to marry someone else and it hurts because she's all I've ever wanted."
Sunni nods and everything starts to make sense. She leans over and pats his hand. He quickly holds her hand and squeezes, gives her a startled but hopeful look.
"I think you should tell Moira you love her. I know she'll return your feelings, she looked so distraught after your conversation this morning."
Archer's face twisted up before he exhaled. With his free hand, he drags it down his face with a light infuriated laugh. "No- it's not… Nevermind."
Feeling a bit powerless and annoyed at herself that she made the wrong assumption, she stands. Archer looks at her and with the hand holding his, she pulls him up, missing the shook look in his eyes. Giving him a firm stare, she pulls him into a hug, placing her head on his chest as she pats his back in a soothing manner. He tenses before practically leaving no space between them as he hugs her back. They stay quiet for a few minutes before she peers up at him.
"Whenever I'm feeling helpless, my dad would always give me a hug and for a moment, everything stood still and felt peaceful rather than running a million miles around. I don't know what your situation is, but there's always a choice even if it'll be hard…. I know it's not much, but I'll support you from the background."
Archer stares at her before his face melts into something soft, fond filled as he cups her cheek. Leaning down he pressed his lips against her cheek and she blushes. She closes her eyes, her heart beating fast and hard that she misses the way when Archer pulls away and lightly presses his nose to her hair and inhales softly.
He pulls away slowly as if reluctantly and gives her a half smile. "Thank you, Sunni. I have something to tell you and I know it's sudden but I lo-"
The doors to the greenhouse open suddenly and someone walks in. Grey eyes looks at the two in surprise before an annoyed look fills the male teens face. "Sunniva, the greenhouse is for club use, not romantic use."
Sunni blushes and steps a few feet back from Archer. She doesn't notice the glaring done between Archer and the new comer, gathering her lunch container. "Sorry Aster, I was coming to check up on something and I decided to bring Archer."
Aster scoffed lightly before placing the box in his arms down. "Are you going to be here tomorrow morning for the measurements?"
Sunni nodded before peeking at her watch. "Bright and early! Sorry Archer, Aster I have to go! I hope everything works out Archer."
She speeds out of the greenhouse before either of the two could say anything.
๑Archers POV๑
Hazel eyes glared into grey eyes as the doors shut close. "What's your problem Aster."
"My problem is that the future Alpha shouldn't be messing with humans. It's bad enough we have to go to school with them."
Aster was the son of their Pack's General so it wasn't a surprise that the disdain for humans, hunters especially, was passed on to the blonde.
"She's not bad, besides whatever I do doesn't concern you-"
"It does when you're in love with someone who could be a downfall to our species!"
Archer growls, striding over to Aster and grabbing him by the collar of his shirt. "You don't speak to your Alpha that way."
They stared at each other with a hard look before Aster's eyes softened.
"I just don't want you to get hurt, you're our Alpha. Loving her can only mean pain and suffering."
Archer glared at Aster before releasing him. He knew the blonde was right but he couldn't help but stare at the door, the scent of lilac and cinnamon slowly thinning out of the greenhouse. He shakes his head and walks out, ignoring everything and everyone as he exits the school and once he's far enough, he shifts into a sleek brown wolf and disappears into the wooded area.
