Despite the bright and colorful name, her scent was cool and calming. It smelled like rain and lilac under the woodsy scent. Archer leans back into the chair as he watches Sunni.
After they told her about their secret, she passed out. It was to be expected, it wasn’t every day that the people you went to school with and grew up with weren’t human. He smiles a bit when Sunni burrows herself deeper into his comforter, his wolf preening as she sighs lightly in a relaxed matter.
He takes her hand and memorizes the minor cuts that healed well before her transformation. Flipping her hand over, he caresses his thumb lightly over her palm and snorts lightly when Sunni unconsciously lets out a giggle, making a mental note for later. He looks at her face and takes in the relaxed expression. She didn’t look stressed and distraught like earlier and he was glad. It gave him a bit more time to prepare her real reaction.
He’ll expect anger, sadness, negative emotions. He hopes that she won’t reject the idea, to tell him that she doesn’t want anything to do with this...him. If she rejected and told others, they would have to k-
He shakes his head, refusing the worst-case scenario, and squeezes her hand gently.
In the best-case scenario, she’ll accept it and embrace it. He could already see her being a great wolf. Her control was a lot better than some other newly turned wolves, from what Aster’s brother had told them. Of course, the young wolf got reprimanded for harassing a human and Archer will make sure to have their instructor give extra grueling sessions towards Blake and his group of friends just because that human was Sunni’s brother, someone that her wolf saw as hers and will protect without any means to herself.
Plus it was Sunni’s brother and since she is important to him, that makes Sunni’s important people his as well.
Maybe Sunni would want her family chan-
He shakes out of his thoughts when he sees the curly-haired girl stir and releases her hand, missing the warmth it brought, and watched her slowly wake up.
------
When she came to, she wasn’t on the hard surface of the deck but on a soft, comfortable bed. Looking around, she saw blue painted walls with posters and pictures pinned around. She doesn’t know why, but she felt comfortable...safe even.
She even didn’t mind the fact that everyone was-
She sat up and grabbed her head as an oncoming headache came. Werewolves….werewolves were really real and she was one.
Closing her eyes, she tried to control her breathing as tears filled her eyes and spilled out, a haunting pain gripped at her ankle. Her hand automatically gripped it, her palm making contact with marred and jagged skin. She lets out a small sob and curled into a ball as a sudden realization came to her as she squeezed her ankle.
How could she turn into the very creature that-
A hand is placed on her shoulder and she lets out a scream, her heart palpitating as she looks into Archer’s wincing face.
She takes a deep breath and punches him. “DUDE! You scared the s**t out of me!’’
Archer laughs a bit as he watches Sunni catch her breath, rubbing the spot she hit. She noted and gave a somewhat apologetic look. “Served you right.’’
They sit in silence for a moment and the grey-eyed girl is not really surprised it’s comfortable. She peeks at Archer and blushes a bit when she sees him staring right back at her. Shaking her head, she looks on with a somewhat determined look.
“So...I’m a werewolf?’’ Archer nods and her heart sinks a bit as her head lowers. “And there’s no cure, huh?’’
A second passes and the bed dips as he sits next to her, a heavy arm wraps around her, immersing her in warmth, she relaxes against Archer as she sniffs, holding back the tears.
“Hey, hey… it's not all bad, I promise.’’ He said in a soothing tone as he rubs his hand up and down her arm. “It may seem scary now but I promise, it’ll be great. I mean, you get super strength, speed and you turn into basically a gigantic dog, except it’s deadly….My god, I’m sorry, I’m terrible at comforting.’’
He smiles a bit when she chuckles a bit and wraps her arms around him, pressing closer. He wraps his other arm around her and rests his chin on her head.
“It’s ok, one time when we were younger and my brother’s hamster died, I told him that it’s pointless to mourn for a creature that he had for two weeks. Not my best work.’’ She said, laughing fondly at the memory of her brother bursting into a huge screaming fit that ended up being grounded for two days.
“...I don’t feel as bad now.’’ He admits, his body shaking with laughter.
Sunni blushes as she takes in the deep smooth sound and buries herself closer as her heart speeds up a bit. Archer smiles and takes one of her curls and twirls it on his finger. “I’ll be here to help you, no matter what.’’
She smiles in thanks before pulling away, a curious look on her face. “I have a question… How come you’re so nice to me?’’
Archer tenses a bit as he rubs the back of his neck. “Uh, it’s a bit embarrassing, but ill tell you later….When there isn’t a bunch of people listening outside the door.’’
They pull away and he stands up and opens the door. Noelle is smiling as she pushes in and heads straight for Sunni. “Hello dear, how are you feeling?’’
Sunni nods and couldn’t help but smile at the warm woman. “I’m...processing.’’
“Understandable! It’s one thing to be born one but to be turned, whoo I couldn’t imagine but as Archer said, we are here to help! You’re going to be a part of our pack now and we take care of our own.’’
Sunni feels warmth fill her as she nods despite the dark feeling in her chest.
Her eyes wandered to the clock on the wall and her eyes widened. “Oh my god! I need to get home! Wait, what happened to my brother?!’’
Noelle shakes her head. “Don’t worry darling, Your brother is here with my daughter. Apparently, they’re best friends, how cute! Come on, I’ll take you to him.’’
The tall she-wolf takes her hand and leads her out of the room and takes her to a den, where Cal was arguing with a girl who had short blonde hair and teal streaks.
“And I’m telling you that you’re dumb because Omen is way stronger than Iron Claw! He’s literally a Deity!’’ The girl says in a ‘matter-of-fact’ tone and Cal rolls his eyes, throwing his hand up. He turns to her then stares back to the girl before shifting to his sister. They both freeze and before she could do anything, Cal gets up and walks to her. They stare at each other for a moment before Cal throws himself at her, hugging her with a strong grip. She hugs him back and immediately relaxes as her brother doesn’t fear her.
At least she knows her brother won’t leave her. She just hopes her mother will feel the same way.
