I amazingly watch as Eros happily dranks three vanilla shakes, I felt like my eyes were bulging out of my skull.
Eros looked up at me, "What?"
"Can we trade stomachs, because I would love to drink milkshakes like that," I said in disbelief. Of course, he could slurp down milkshakes and not gain a freaking thing. "You know what I think I just gained like 10 pounds watching you drink those."
Eros chuckles, "What can I say I have a sweet tooth." The waitress comes by and gives us the check.
"Can I get you anything else? Maybe another one of those?" she says with an overly nice voice as she gestures to the milkshakes.
I can see Eros debating with himself about it as his eyes shift over the silver cups.
"I'll have one, to go." I finally said the waitress looked at me and I swore I saw her roll her eyes.
"Okay, anything ELSE I can get you?" She returns her attention to Eros.
This bitch...did she think we were on a date or something?
"You know I'm off in an hour if you aren't attached or anything, maybe we could get together?"
I almost spit out my lemonade when she said that, Eros didn't seem surprised as he checked the bill.
I reach for my wallet and pull out the money for the tab, Eros looks at me and raises his brow. "What are you doing?" he asks.
"Uh-I'm paying?"
Eros then chuckles and shakes his head, "You think I'd order three Vanilla milkshakes and then make you pay for it? Your cute," he says as he pulls out his card and lays it on the table.
I was surprised he even had a card or money...
"And to answer your question, I'm already attached," he said blatantly to the waitress.
"Oh, to her?" She says in disbelief like a woman like me could never get a man like him. God, I hated people like her.
Eros dead ass looks at this woman and says, " Vanity doesn't suit you, maybe you should try a different personality. I hear that works."
I had to hold my hand over my mouth to stop myself from laughing. She gasps then walks away, "Well, she's definitely not getting a tip. Rude." Eros says I couldn't believe he told her off like that.
I smiled, looking back on all of the dates I ever had I always opted for paying for my half because I didn't want them thinking I "owed" them something for the lobster bisque I ordered, but with Eros, it definitely didn't feel like that. It was nice to feel comfortable around him.
"Eros, Did you really mean it when you asked me if I wanted to see my father?" I asked just now remembering he had offered.
"Of course I did."
My chest felt like it had a weight like an anchor on it. I wanted to see my real father, I wanted to know why he never tried to reach me the way my grandmother did. Did he even want me?
"But like I said before, he won't be able to see you, love."
"Honestly, it's probably better that way," I admitted.
A different waiter brought us the milkshake and our receipt. We left and ended up in a park nearby, just walking. I guess I was a little nervous to see my father but it was something I felt like I had to do, for my own sake.
"I don't even know why I'm contemplating what I would say to him, it's like I'm fighting with him in my head and thinking of all the things he would say to me, even though I know he won't be able to see me."
"Dove," Eros says as he stops me from walking and turns me to face him, "I said you have a choice to meet him or not. You don't have to go."
I stared at him, I swear I could get lost in his eyes...
"I know, It's something I need to do though," I say as I sip my drink.
Eros smiles at me as I drink my creamy treat, "What?"
"I-" But before he could speak a heavy fog starts to come out of nowhere and the last time there was fog like this...
"Oh, no Eros-"
"Get behind me," he demands. I stay in the back of him, I could feel his wings come out as they brushed away the fog in front of me. The blood was pounding in my ears as my heart thumped against my ribs.
"You waste your time trying to protect this woman," That voice, the same voice of the man who attacked Annie. Phobus.
He was in the back on me which meant he was in front of Eros.
"And I've told you before brother, she's none of your concern, leave," Eros says with venom in his voice.
"She's a demi-god, she's a child of an affair, one that brings your mother great shame. You darn spell shame on your mother's name?"
"As I've said before, "Eros begins to say as he grabs his bow," My mother can be quite difficult, " he says as the clank of two metals collides together. Eros gets pushed into me as he tries to contour Phobos's attack.
"Dove, hold on to me," he says. I hop onto his back then Eros's hands glow with a pink aura, then he snaps his bow as if it were a plastic spoon filled with jello and sends Phobos flying backward against a tree.
Before I knew it we were up in the air. "Looks like we're going to see your father a little faster than I expected. I need to get you out of here," he says.
I nod and watch the stars glisten in the night sky as we make our way to where my father was, which I had no idea where that was.
"Can he follow us?"
"No, he can't fly."
"Where are we going?" I ask as the wind tries to lower my voice.
"Where your father makes all of his weapons for the gods, Vulcan Mountain," he says as he glides through the sky.
Well, ready or not father, here I come.
