8. Him again

Fiona POV

After a long hours travels finally got into my home. It was early morning so I went ahead to my room to take a quick shower as I know by this time mom and Dad must be out for jogging. When I switched on my phone, I got the message from Cathy that, Ryan went to the apartment last night. He was drunk and wanted to see me. Cathy assured that she him away safely. Even though I did not witness it, it made my mood so down. Damn it, he is such a good person and he had to suffer because of me.

My mood was so down that I did not feel to step out of the door. I kept laying on my bed thinking about the sweetest memories I had with him. He was so gentle and caring towards me. It is my greatest loss I know... I was busy in thought, then my room door opened shortly by Gabby. She had a cute smile on her face.

"Why did not you come out...I was waiting for you..." She laid next to me.

"I am having a headache Gabby... " I made an excuse.

"Headache or heartache...?? What is going on Fio, I know you were over the moon when she planned the surprise for Ryan. But something must have happened between you guys... did you fought with him...??" She asked worryingly.

"Can we talk about this later...I am not in the mood... let's tall something pleasant... tells me about your soon to be fiance."

As I changed the topic, I could see a blush creeping on her cheeks. Aww... she must have liked him very much.

"Spill the details sis... " I asked her with excitement.

"I told you I met his family at the gala. His grandparents, They liked me..."

"Hold on... so you're saying, you met only his grandparents and you agreed to it... Oh Gabby, we are not living in medieval times...I can't believe this...Did Dad forced you??"

"No no... you are wrong... Dad never forced me... I met his grandparents on my will and they were nice to me and they showed him his photo and told me about him. By their description, I liked the way he is. He is a brilliant businessman who loves his grandparents so much... he is a man of few words, just like me. you know except with you I don't talk much to others...So it do match... and he was ho...I mean...handsome as a Greek God and he looked so mature not the boyish type... Altogether I was impressed. But I will not agree to it until I met him. So they will be coming here today or by tomorrow along with him."

"Oh Is that so...then it is fine... but still, I prefer a love marriage over the arranged one. But sometimes it feels like, arranged marriage is better compared to the heartbreak if the love fails..."

"Oh my little one... love marriage or arranged marriage, nobody can predict the love will be constantly there or lasts forever. As per my nature, love will not suit me. Love needs time for each other, interaction, obligations.. and these things will not be good to an introvert like me..."

"What if the guy is the exact opposite of you..."

"Hm. I don't know... let's see if I can get comfortable around him first, then I will decide. "

"Alright, do you have any new dress to wear for this occasion..?? Forget it, let's go shopping... it is both beneficial to us...okay..."

She can buy clothes and do the spa, where I can escape from my guilty conscience for some time.

When we enter the hall, mom and Dad were back.

"Fio, you are here...?? " She asked in disbelief.

"Yes, mom. I am on study vacation. and Gabby told me about the alliance."

"So she ran here without concentrating on your studies...?? She is going to get wedded, not you... you have final exams ahead of you, what are you doing here. They are only coming to see her. it's not like she will get married in days..." Mom was infuriated. Yes, mom is the only one who scolds me. Dad and Gabby are my Saviour.

" Amy, why are you scolding her...she came here because she wanted to be a part of Gabby's happiness... and you know she is the topper in her college...then what are you worrying about..." Dad came and side hugged me while justifying me in front of mom. I kissed his cheeks.

"Dad, see I thought everyone will be happy to see me back... look, mom did not like it.." I complained

"It's not like she didn't like it. She wanted you to concentrate on your studies more that's all... Wait here, I will be back after a shower. Let's have breakfast together..." Dad went upstairs and Mom was still there smiling at me. She is like this. She will scold me first, then make me feel warm. She used to say, she is scolding me because I was the naughty one and nobody else will scold me even if I did anything wrong.

she stretched her hands out and invited me for a hug. But I turned around, then Gabby dragged me to mom and we three hugged together. Mom is looking still young that everybody often mistakes her as our elder sister.

During breakfast, Dad praised the family. Hamilton Inc is an international multi-billion company. And Mr Lance Hamilton is the CEO of the company. At a young age, he struggled a lot to get the company to the top level. Dad was praising him mom stop and I could see Gabby's eyes shines. Hmm..my poor sis seems to befall for the CEO already...

After breakfast, I and Gabby went out. She bought few gowns whereas I bought few shirts, shorts and tank tops. I helped her pick the dress along with accessories. Even though I am not used to her dressing style, I am a good reviewer. And she gets praised whenever she goes with my selection. So she insisted I choose the dress for the occasion. I took a baby pink classy gown. It will look elegant on Gabby.

It was already noon, so we went to our favourite restaurant to have lunch. When it comes to food I am so picky as I am allergic to few items, like peanuts, prawns etc.

We spend the day shopping and in the evening we went to the spa centre and done a relaxing spa for both of us. I felt much better after that. We reached home by night, mom was on duty at the hospital. And Dad was busy in his office so he was also not there. Thank God the day was so busy that, I did not get time to check my phone. I kept my phone on switched off mode as I know Ryan may call.

As guessed there was several missed calls and msgs from him. So what could I do, I blocked his contact otherwise I will go crazy over the guilt. When I straighten myself after sighing looking at the phone, I saw Gabby looking at me with questioning eyes.

"Gabby...not now...please..." I know she will ask me about my depressed mood.

"Fio, I am happy but you look so sad. How can I become truly happy when I know my little one is sad?."

Even though there is hardly two years difference between us, she always treated me as a little one and used to call me by that name when she is worried about me.

"Hm...okay...I will tell you... but you will not ask me any more questions after that okay... I am not ready to explain things... It is that... we... I and Ryan break up... last day..."

"WHAT...!! how come..?? I mean you were so excited and in love, just as Ryan when he came here to find you... then how come it happened..."

"Gabby, I told you no more questions... I will tell you when I feel comfortable okay...until then you will not ask me..."

"Okay. last question, who initiated the breakup...??"

"It was me... please Gabby stop it..."

"Alright, I will not pressure you, but I just want you to know that in my eyes, Ryan was perfect for you..."

"I know that... let's check the dress we bought, come on..."

I changed the topic and thankfully Gabby did not pester me about it after that.

We were trying the outfits, then Dad came and said that tomorrow the Hamilton family will come to visit us. I could see excitement along with tension on Gabby's face... She is very gentle and virtuous... And the type who won't go against the word of elders. Just the exact opposite of mine. I will go against anyone if I don't feel it right.

Gabby dragged me to her room to finalise the accessories along with the gown. She gave me her favourite gown to wear as well but I rejected it, as I will be comfortable in less fancy clothing's. She was getting nervous about his opinion of her.

" What if, he don't like me...

What if, he doesn't feel that I am attractive...

what if..." I cut her in between.

"No more what if's... we will find out the answer for it tomorrow.And nobody will be able to take the eyes of you my sis...you're the most gorgeous one in my opinion, otherwise he must be blind..."

I spend the night in Gabby's room by chit chatting and planning about her marriage. And I don't know when we slept. Next day, Gabby wake me up and told me to fresh up

She was already bathed, so I helped her to get her dressed first. And when she was finally done, she looked irresistible. I complimented her , then Dad came to us.

He told me to get ready soon as they are on the way. I quickly took the shower and wore the off shoulder white top along with blue knee length skirt and kept my hair open. I did not apply any makeup as you know I am not into that. only lip balm is the must for me. Then I went downstairs... I could already hear the groom's family talking. I did not enter into the hall, but stopped near the door glancing at Gabby. She looked shy and her cheeks were light pink...that means she liked him...I felt so happy, at the same time,I don't wanted to go and talk to them I suck at talking with strangers. Mom noticed my presence, and glared at me.

"Fio, come here..."

I know it was like a warning I should better obey her. I slowly strode in. I heard her introducing me to the family.

"This is Fiona, our youngest one. She is studying Masters in Architecture at San Francisco."

By that time I reached near mom and turned to look at them. I first saw two oldies, they must be his grandparents I gently smiled at them. All the time I was feeling unsettled inside, as some scrutinizing gaze had fell upon me. I turned around to see the groom who was sitting near Dad, and found who's scrutinizing eyes were it...

A shiver ran through my spice when my eyes got locked with him. I felt like temperature was so down that my fingertips were feeling icy. I did not know even I was breathing or not... I stayed there like a statue looking at him in daze... I did not hear the elders talking with each other as my eyes never left his eyes...

There he is , the mysterious man of the night... as my future brother in law...!!
