I convinced Thomas to sit with me but we agreed no touching for obvious reasons, I thought about what I was going to say, I really couldn’t risk upsetting anymore people. “What are you afraid off?” I asked nicely. Thomas shook his shoulders and I saw ash fall but it didn’t land it just seemed to vanish. “I don’t know what happens next, I mean no one does, but having been here just wondering around for so long I think now I have had too much time to think about it.” He stopped to think before seeming to choose his words, “I didn’t deserve to die, why should I not be able to stay?” I knew he wasn’t asking me but I felt like I needed go say something, “my mum used to always say, only the good die young, so she’s going to live until she’s like ancient.” Thomas laughed not a big laugh
