Chapter 2

It was only two minutes to midnight and I could literally smell the anticipation in the air. We were all piled up in the pack hall, the Alpha, Luna, Beta and Elder Gabriel sat in front idly chatting while Ayden and his bestfriend and future beta, Ian Fonder sat at the stage awaiting to he annoited by the moon goddess.
I sat at back with the rest of the unimportant enough members and gazed at the hall who were buzzing with excitement. My father was amongst them, along with his daughter and son. I'm sure Gena was just as excited if not more to take on the Luna role in just a couple of minutes.
Everybody knew Ayden and Gena were destined to be together, fated mates from birth. Luna Lily loved her and Alpha Adryan was just as in love with my sister as everybody else. They would tell her every chance they got that she'd make an excellent Luna. While I sat on the sidelines and just watched, even though my heart ached every time Luna would praise her or give her a gift of acceptance.
I just pushed my feelings aside and smiled for the better. When the large bell rang indicating it was finally midnight. Alpha Adryan and Elder Gabriel stood up and ascended the short stairs and the hall quietened. "Midnight Pack members, it's a glorious night tonight" He said sounding proud, and I don't know why but his voice sounded a whole lot louder than usual.
"Tonight we celebrate a new era, a generation of new minds and new leadership" He spoke strongly, his Alpha voice affecting my hearing the more he spoke. "It's been a glorious twenty one years of raising Ayden for this specific day. I can't put it into words of how proud I am to have my son take over from me. I just can't think of a better fit"
"I don't want to waste anymore time, or I'll talk your ears off all night if somebody doesn't stop me" Laughter erupted throughout the hall of three hundred and something members and I groaned as the ringing in my ear started to get louder. I closed my eyes tryna calm Enna, my wolf down cause I could feel her agitation.
Was it the full moon? I didn't know, but something was definitely happening. "Let the moon shine" Alpha said signaling for the two warriors stood aside to open the roof for the moon to shine directly at us, more on Ayden and Ian for them to properly receive the blessing from the moon goddess.
But as soon as the roof slid open and the light of the full shone through, I was off my seat and down on my knees. My chest ached as if it was being ripped open, I clenched my teeth in agony as my head felt like it was going to explode at any moment. "Are you alright?" I looked up to see a fellow members concerned eyes staring at me. I nodded, not wanting to alert her and slowly climbed back into my seat.
And on the stage, Ayden was also on his knees holding his head. It was like his pain was also mine, like we were experiencing the same pain. "What is happening?" I heard him say and I watched through hooded eyes as his father knelt down next to him and rubbed his back. Ian was now standing as Gena ran up the stage in panic.
"It's the moon, it's bonding with his wolf" His father said looking at his son. And yet I had a strong feeling that wasn't the case. If the moon was bonding with his wolf, he wouldn't be experiencing pain. And I definitely would not be feeling it along with him.
I growled lowly as another pain hit my chest and my hand immeditely flew to the spot. I growled lowly and that seemed to catch Elder Gabriel's eyes as they immediately shot to mine. He looked to me then to Ayden and back to me again as his eyes squinted.
He seemed to have realized something. "Mate bond" He whispered and somehow I heard him all the way back and Ayden did too as he head shot in the Elder's direction and widened.
What the hell was happening?
I didn't get to answer that question as another lightning bolt pain shot through my skull and cried out holding my head. "f**k!" I felt hands on my bare shoulders and the touch burnt so much that I growled at the person touching me and she immediately removed her hand.
"Oh my god! You're eyes!" The woman gasped in shock and I closed them as yet another searing pain shot through. Then it stopped, just as one word rang through my head in a voice that shocked me.
Mate
Ayden's voice rang through my head and I gasped as I realized what just happened. I just bonded with my soon to be Alpha and my sister's boyfriend!
