Alex spun in anger, his fist colliding with the brick wall of the packhouse. He screamed out in pain as his knuckles broke easily under the pressure. His parents had once again managed to drive him to the edge and express their shame in him. Lane quickly came rushing out of the house, cradling Alex’s head in her hands and tentatively holding her palms over his crushed hand.
