When Ash left the morning meeting and learned about McGavin’s plan, he suddenly figured out exactly who he wanted to talk to. The problem was he now had to get to him. The confusing landscape of the Western Front had created opportunities for those brazen enough to grasp them. Most of the Commonwealth units were formed in small country towns and villages across the empire, and these had entered the war containing mates, brothers, entire school classes, and even in a few instances, fathers and sons.
