Lieutenant Colonel Jean Danjou watched the Australian MP and another Australian trooper he did not recognise enter an older, crumbling trench and seem to disappear. From his own blind corner, he quickly decided that the ‘wounded’ man sitting along the trench wall was a guard for the entrance, and came to the conclusion that no one here was up to any good. With a single flick of his hand and a finger pointed like a g*n, five brawny gendarmes entered the trench and jumped the supposedly wounded soldier. After a few hard blows, the soldier was in need of a real doctor. Danjou stepped quickly into the false trench, followed by his guard.
