Seconds tick by achingly slow. Everything seems to be still for a few horrible seconds as I pray for Nate to come back. I pray that he and Logan got River and return safely to me. But nothing happens.
“Mika, we need to move. Are you hurt?”
“Just... I don’t think so,” I say and start moving towards my cabin. But Willa holds me back, “no, Logan will get River. You need to come with me. We need to get off the streets.”
“And go where?” I shake my head, “I’m sorry, Willa, but I can’t go anywhere without my son!” I start moving toward my home and with a heavy sigh, she follows me. Having a little trouble keeping up with me, because I am desperate. I am a mother without her pup. It will turn me into a monster if I have to be. Anything to protect my boy.
