Chapter Nine

2751 Words
I groaned with a start, stretching myself out in the bed and feeling the soreness between my legs from the night before. Grey. I turned with a smile expecting him to be there and when I realised he wasn't, my smile dropped.  I could hear his voice outside the room so I knew he was far but I still felt disappointed that he wasn't here beside me after the night we shared. After our time in the kitchen last night, we moved to the bedroom and continued our time of intimacy until the early morning, Grey would have continued but I'm pretty sure I fell asleep.  I sat up in the bed, pulling the covers back and becoming more than aware of my nakedness. I grabbed a blanket that had been thrown untidily on the floor and covered myself.  There was a neat pile of clothes on the end of the bed. I picked up the pink sundress, it was my size which I was thankful for and noticed a new bra and set of panties underneath it, a set of gold sparkly sandals and a denim jacket. Stylish.   The smell of s*x clung and Greys aftershave stuck to my skin, I didn't mind the smell of Greys aftershave but the s*x had to go. I looked around the large room, my eyes settling on the bathroom as I quickly made my way over.  I turned the shower on and dropped the blanket. I quickly got to work, washing my hair with shampoo that must have been Grey's and scrubbed my skin with his body wash. I smiled at the comfort the smell brought me.  Once I was done, I towel dried my hair. Thanking my lucky stars that the hotel supplied a hair dryer and disposable brush to help tame my curls. A toothbrush sat to the side still in its wrapper so I didn't think twice and used it to scrub my mouth, feeling a lot more refreshed.  I quickly slipped into my underwear, then my dress before walking back into the bedroom and putting my sandals on and tightening the buckle on my ankles. It was September and the air was starting to get chilly so I put my denim jacket on too just incase.  I lifted my phone and retreated from the bedroom and out into the open planned layout of the living area and kitchen area. My cheeks flaming red when I looked at the kitchen island.  Grey was on his phone but the moment he noticed me, he hanged up and said he would call back. I smiled shyly as I walked nearer towards him.  He was in his usual get up, right down to his converse and looked freshly showered. He gave me a small smile, walking over to the kitchen area and holding out a coffee cup for me. I took it gladly.  "Good morning." He told me quietly before taking a sip of his own piping hot coffee.  "Morning." I smiled back.  "I see the clothes fit then?" He smiled satisfied looking down like my outfit was a masterpiece.  "Yeah." I smiled, "Did you buy these this morning?" I asked.  "Not quite." He replied back sounding unsure, I frowned looking to my outfit. Did someone else buy these? "When we attend an after show party....if the boys bring someone back then..." I didn't allow him to stop as I slammed my coffee cup down on the on the worktop.  "Your telling me that I'm in an outfit you would give to a one night stand from your groupies?" I looked to the outfit in disgust.  "It's not like that Ems." He looked at me sternly, avoiding my accusation. "It's about being respectful to the women we bring back." I looked up to him with disgust.  "Women that we bring back?" He rolled his eyes, "So if I wasn't at the party last night this is what your skank would have been wearing that you brought home with you?" I frowned.  Was that all I was to him? A one night stand.  "Your twisting my words." He accused, anger flaring in his eyes.  "Was that all I was to you? A one night stand?" I demanded to know, he avoided looking at me and decided to take nothing but interest in his coffee cup.   I was shaking with anger. He didn't have to speak, I knew the answer and I felt so f*****g stupid for expecting anything more. I grabbed his coffee cup, launching it against the wall as tears lined my eyes. "Answer me!" I yelled.  "I don't understand why all you women do this." He growled out, "Why can't you just understand the message clear and simple from the start. I wanted a f**k and I got one. Why can't they just accept what it is with no hard feelings?!" He yelled back and piece by piece, I felt my heart shattering on the floor in front of me. I would not let a tear fall from my eyes, he wasn't worth it.  "You...you promised that" "I promised nothing but to make you see the stars Em." He growled out, "I think we can both agree that I done it plenty times, wouldn't you agree?" He asked with a snicker.  The sound of a loud smack filled the air between us and my tears eventually fell. Grey was clenching his jaw, his hand nursing his cheek that was now turning bright red while my hand was on fire from the contact. I lifted my palm towards my chest, trying to massage the pain from my palm.  He turned to me with eyes wilder than a beast, storms erupting in his grey orbs. I looked at his lip that was now supporting a small cut and getting more swollen as each second passed.  I immediately regretted it the moment I done it but I couldn't help it. I wasn't a skank from his after show party's, our history was deeper than that. He degraded me like I was nothing.  Just another notch on the bedpost.  "Leave Emily." His voice coming out almost robotic and stone cold, I took a step towards him but he held his hand up. "I can't." He warned, "You need to go." He demanded.  "Grey I'm sor..." "I said f*****g go!" He roared making me flinch, his eyes wild.  I looked at the man in front of me, this wasn't the Grey that I remembered. His mood changes were quicker than a light switch and I should leave. I should leave and never give him the satisfaction of how much is words hurt me...but I couldn't. Underneath those stony and stormy eyes was someone that was broken, it was clear to see but he hid is so well until moments like this.  He didn't like compliments, he didn't like ultimatums, he didn't like being disobeyed. If he couldn't be in control of the situation, he didn't like it. Even in the bedroom, he liked to be in charge. He didn't want input, it was his way or the high way.  I remembered what Johnny told me last night, 'He has demons". I know he went through a hard time last year, it was displayed on every magazine. Even his rehab facility leaked a story for money.   I was his friend before anything, I don't think I could ever not be his friend if that's even what this was. Even as an acquaintance, if someone is struggling you help.  So it was maybe absolutely bonkers of me when I stepped forward, ignoring the dangerous warning in his eyes and reached my hands out pulling him to me. He stood solid, his muscles tensed and he didn't return the affection but I couldn't care. My message was simple, I was here.  "I'm sorry." I whispered, resting my head against his chest as he towered over me and breathed like a raging bull.  I was sorry. I was sorry for slapping him but most importantly, I was sorry for whatever happened to him to make him feel like this was his only defence.  "I'm here Grey." I told him sincerely squeezing him tighter, "I'm not going anywhere." I promised and just like that, he lifted his hands pushing me away from him.  "I don't need you f*****g here Emily." He growled out, "I f****d you and that's all it was, so get the f**k out!" He roared but still I stayed. "You thought last night meant something didn't you? You thought that after last night that I would settle for you." He taunted, "I like a women in the bedroom Emily, not a girl. I prefer experience. I favour blondes, wild and so sexy while they ride my d**k to hell and back." I closed my eyes, blocking his words out. This is the anger speaking Emily, he doesn't mean it.  "I could never settle for someone like you, your too plain." He walked closer to me, my eyes opened. "When you were dancing on me last night and grinding your little hips away, did you see the little blondie in the background? Grasping her t**s and salivating at the mouth. I was hard for her, not you." He chuckled sinisterly, "For f**k sake, I had to have a wank in bathroom before I could even go near you." Tears pooled in my eyes again, I was strong but I wasn't that strong. "Either you leave or I'm leaving." He finished as a tear fell from my eye, when I didn't move he spoke up once more "f**k this s**t!" He roared lifting his jacket from the kitchen stool and slamming his hand against the button for the elevator, once he was in and the door closed over.  I leaned against the kitchen worktop and breathed but it soon failed as a sob escaped my lips. Grey still wasn't in the penthouse come late afternoon, I knew he didn't have a show tonight. That was tomorrow. So I knew that he would be returning at some point and part of me hoped that his anger had settled. I didn't leave, I stayed.  Although his words hurt me like a knife to my chest, I didn't dwell on them. I would prefer to be his friend for the moment than anything else because he seemed like he needed it.  Although last night was earth shattering, I wouldn't allow myself to be in that position again. He made me feel worthless. I'm a strong girl, I don't hold grudges but I'll never forget. I doesn't matter how angry a person becomes, there's a line that's easily crossed and Grey surpassed that way beyond repair today.  Nevertheless, here I was in the kitchen cooking something to eat. I didn't have a change of clothes here, so the only thing that I could find that would be more comfortable was a crisp white shirt that belonged to Grey.  It quite big on me but it was comfortable and after rolling the sleeves up, it was like the perfect night dress. I had put my hair up into a high pony, thankful that I left a hair band on my wrist and slipped off my sandals so I was barefoot.  I made something quick but simple, chicken pasta. Luckily the ingredients were there to make it but the fridge was full regardless. It was one of my Mum's recipes and one of my favourites, we grew up with a lot of Italian food. Particularly because Mum was Italian and she cooked so it made sense.  I sat alone at the island, ignoring what had happened on it the night before and swirled my pasta with my fork. My stomach growled in appreciation.  "Stop it." A high pitched giggle called from the elevator, "Your tickling me." The voice spoke up again heavily accented. I knew the accent immediately, just like my Mum it was Italian.  I watched as Grey and a leggy blonde woman walked into the penthouse, his hands around her waist whispering sweet nothings into her ear like he had done with me the night before. I looked to my pasta, no longer feeling hungry and my appetite fled.  "Grey-bear who's this?" She asked distastefully, eyeing me up and down like she was burning hot pokers into my skin.  I couldn't even lie. She did look beautiful. Her long blonde curls cascaded down her back, her frame slim and toned, her eyes a piercing ocean blue with high brows and full cheeks. There wasn't anything fake about her much to my dismay. Her legs went on forever and her short red and silky dress showed her assets well.  Nothing that I could ever compete with anyways.  I watched as Grey lifted his eyes up from the crook of her neck, his smile vanished the moment his eyes locked with mine. I kept my eyes clear of emotion, I will not let him hurt me like he did earlier. Although I knew deep down that's what he was trying to do, he probably brought her here because he knew I was here. He wanted to hurt me, punish me for slapping him and although I wouldn't admit it or show it...it was working.  "Hi, I'm Emily." I called out with a smile, "I'm the sister of Greyson's best friend, I'm staying here for a few nights to explore the city before going home." I lied but I was going to play Grey at his own game.  "Oh Grey-bear that's so sweet of you giving her a place to stay for a few days." He cooed kissing his cheek swiftly before turning her attention back to me, Grey however clenched his jaw with a glare.  "I made pasta if you want some?" I asked her trying my hardest to be sickly sweet.  "Pasta?" She asked retreating from Greys hold and walking across to me like a runway model. He followed behind, his hands slipping into his trouser pockets.  She reached into the pot, plucking a piece of pasta out with her fingers and popping it into her mouth. I grimaced at her lack of table manners.  "Paste alimentari con pollo Italiano?" She asked with a moan.  (Italian chicken pasta?) "La ricetta di mia madre." I smiled and she looked to me with widen eyes.  (My mum's recipe)  "Your Italian?" She asked surprised with a small smile.  "My mum is." I confirmed, "My dad is American but me and my brother can speak both languages." She smiled back at me, lifting another piece of pasta into her mouth and chewing down.  I looked over to Grey, he was watching me intently with his fists clenched on the table causing his knuckles to turn white. I couldn't read his expression in the slightest.  "It tastes great." She admitted. "Grey-bear would you like some?" She asked him sweetly, he gave her a small smile and shook his head in a decline.  "Baby let's go to bed." I turned to Grey on instinct with a frown. Baby. I could briefly see him looking at me but quicker than a flash his attention was back on her, he did that internationally. I could tell by the way he smirked as he held her around the waist, burying his head into her neck. She let out a high pitched giggle, turning in his arms to face him with a heated passion in her eyes.  "Grey?" I quietly spoke up, breaking their moment causing the woman in his arms to groan in annoyance.  He turned his attention to me, not letting the woman in his arms go. He still looked pissed from earlier, I could tell by the glare he was giving me, trying to tell me the same thing as earlier. Get out Emily.  "Speak up Emily, I don't have all night." He snapped out causing me to flinch back into the chair.  "Nothing." I replied back quieter than before with a small smile. His eyes softened for a split second before he rolled his eyes, grabbing his lovers hand and leading her towards the bedroom. Be strong Emily, he's only doing this to punish you.  I watched as the door closed behind him and loud giggles erupted. The same bed I had shared with him last night was now being tarnished less than twenty four hours later with another woman.  It was then I made my decision, time to get as s**t faced as possible on every alcohol beverage known to man.
