Bat     The sun was just starting to how its face over the horizon, the fires had died down to embers when I noticed a change in Amelia’s demeanour. She sat upright; her eyes screwed shut. Diablo at my side let out a curse, the two of us scanning the area, there was nothing. People were asleep or talking quietly in small groups.  Their voices hushed. There was no movement, no one sneaking up on us.  And yet every hair on my body was raised. “What…” I didn’t get to finish the sentence.
