Chapter 29

1065 Words
Odessa felt embarrassment creep up her cheeks as she turned around to face her husband, to tell him not to mind what Claudia said, but stopped short when she noticed all the blood covering his whole body. Oh my Goddess, what the hell happened to you? Des! Odessa yelled in panic. She didn't know if the blood was all his, but it was so much she wanted to puke. I'm fine, love. It was a rogue attack. Another one. Aria asked, after recalling the rogue that attacked her on her way back from the library. Alpha, please. Where is George? She'd forgotten that Claudia was in the room with them. He's in your chambers healing. He got hit pretty badly. Claudia gasped in shock as she dashed from the kitchen at lightning speed to see her mate. Come on, Des, let's get you cleaned up. Odessa dragged the Alpha behind her. As they walked to their room, she went straight to the bathroom and ran a bath for him before coming back out. She found him standing in the middle of the room, deep in thought and broke the deafening silence. I've run you a bath. Don't come out until you're sparkling clean. Desmond's wolf purred in contentment at the way his mate was caring and doting on him. He could get used to this. Yes, my wife. He teased, watching as she blushed like a ripe tomato under his gaze. He just loved to see her blush for him. Odessa waited on the bed till Desmond came out of the bathroom. Dressed in fresh clothes with his hair slightly wet. Tell me what happened. She demanded immediately. Desmond didn't waste time telling her what happened from beginning to end. How they had set a trap for them, and how they avoided fighting him and instead attacked his warriors. Odessa bit her lip as she thought of a possible reason why rogues were attacking Desmond's pack. Everyone knew and feared the Alpha. So whoever was sending these rogues sure had a motive. Could it be? M— No. Odessa interrupted her wolf. Emma was manipulative and cunning, yes, but she didn't think she was capable of attacking Alpha Desmond all on her own, unless someone was helping her. I don't want you thinking too much about this, Aria. Let's go to bed. Tomorrow, we will hold an investigation and find out what's going on. Odessa sighed and hugged Desmond close to her, agreeing with him. They slipped into bed and got under the covers. That night, it rained heavily, and Odessa was content in her husband's arms. The next morning, after breakfast with his wife, Desmond was in his home office with his already healed Beta and Delta, brainstorming ideas on how to capture one of the rogues for an investigation. Rogues don't normally transform back into their human form, choosing to stay in their primal form for whatever reason was best known to them. But Beta George knew a way to make them transform back. It was going to be painful, but worth it. If they succeeded in capturing one of the rogues, they would commence with the plan. We will lure them in by using one of us as bait. We all know they are scared of me. So if I show my face, the plan will fail. I'll lure them in. Beta George volunteered, but the Alpha shook his head. No, Alaric will do it. Why does it have to be me? George already volunteered. He whined like a brat. Alpha Desmond growled in warning. You will do it, Alaric. George has his task to be ready to make the rogue transform back to human form. So you will obey your Alpha and quit your whining. You are my Delta. You should show courage and not cower like a pup. Alaric felt insulted by the Alpha's words, but kept mute, gritting his teeth in dissatisfaction. It's settled. Then we converge at the same place as yesterday. Only this time, we will be ready for them with a trap of our own. Yes, Alpha. George and Alaric chorused. There was a knock on the door to which George answered. It was Odessa. Luna. George bowed politely as he opened the door wider for her. She answered his greeting with a smile. You've been cooped up all day in here, and I thought to bring you lunch. Desmond smiled at his thoughtful Luna. Give us the room. We will finish our discussion tomorrow morning. Yes, Alpha. His Beta and Delta replied, leaving the room. But Alaric intentionally brushed his arm on Odessa before going out making her tense in fear. He did not miss the way she blatantly ignored him. And he would visit her soon to continue their interrupted discussion at the library. Come here. Odessa approached the desk and placed the food on the coffee table in front of it, before walking towards her mate. He reached for her, settling her on his lap and hugging her tightly. He loved the way she smelled. It calmed his wolf down anytime she was near. Odessa was blushing like a fool on Desmond's thighs. She had never been this close to a man before in her past life. Yes, she and Lucas would make out. But it was always mild, and she put a stop to it whenever it was about to turn serious. Maybe that's why he chose her sister over her, because she didn't want to give him what he wanted. How is your day, love? Desmond asked, staring up into her beautiful eyes. Boring. She deadpanned, making the Alpha laugh heartily. I told you to let me know if you wanted to have something to do while I'm away. He reminded her. She had thought about that already, and she knew what she wanted. I want to train. Train? What for? You have me to protect you, my queen. He growled lowly, sniffing her neck again. She laughed because his stubble made it ticklish. Stop it, Des. I'm serious. Okay. Fine. Fine. I'll get someone to train you, but I must let you know. It won't be easy. He warned. She smiled and replied to him. I wasn't expecting anything else. If she was going to survive this discovery she had been finding, a little combat knowledge wouldn't be so bad.
