In her past life, Odessa was what humans called a pushover. She was weak, both in mind and body, and that made it easy for others to manipulate her.
All right, that's one local. Yes. Next week.
She never talked back. She never questioned anybody's actions towards her, and she always took the blame.
Anytime Emma did something wrong.
Come to think of it, she gaslighted her into taking the blame for her too.
Her hands instinctively reached out to touch the place where Emma injected the liquid that ended her life.
The skin there was smooth, not a scar in sight.
She huffed out a breath as she took a look at herself in the mirror.
She was supposed to start her combat training today, but Odessa feared whoever was going to train her would do serious damage to her fragile body.
She pinched at her lanky biceps.
No muscle in sight, just flesh.
Her skinny legs looked ridiculous in the white nightdress and robe.
Making her chuckle in distress.
What a joke.
Why are you laughing all by yourself, love?
Her husband asked, hugging her from behind, as they both faced the large mirror.
She hadn't heard him get up from bed, so she was a little startled.
Des.
She chuckled in excitement.
You're awake.
Mm.
He hummed, burying his face in her neck and breathing in her scent.
He turned her around to cup her face and placed a kiss on her forehead.
You're starting your training today.
How do you feel?
She sighed and shrugged her shoulders.
I don't know how I feel about it.
I just know I need to do it.
He blinked at her vague answer, but let it go.
His hands fell to her slim waist.
She fit so perfectly in his arms as if she was made just for him.
And she was.
Kiss her already.
Des growled in the Alpha's head.
Making him pause his movement.
His eyes immediately fell to her lips unconsciously.
Odessa didn't miss the way Desmond was looking at her mouth with heat in his eyes.
Ever since their wedding, they hadn't kissed again, and she would be lying if she said she wasn't curious as to what his lips would taste like.
Just them alone.
No relatives, piercing gazes upon them, no pressure.
The energy in the room shifted as Desmond pulled her closer by the waist.
The proximity wasn't too much for Odessa, and on reflex, she placed her hand on his chest, as if to stop his advances.
She looked up at him shyly, not knowing what to do.
Suddenly, she was speechless.
She always knew what to say.
But lately, her attraction for Desmond grew stronger.
And she was at a loss for words.
Because of the height difference, she had to stretch her neck far back to look at him.
He cupped her chin.
His face leaned closer to hers.
She bit her lip in anticipation.
He growled at her in warning.
If you don't want me to kiss you, Odessa, you better stop biting your lips like that.
She clutched his shirt in response, as if daring him.
Just as he was about to take her mouth, there was a soft but demanding knock on the door.
Odessa moved back quickly, as if electrocuted, running to the bathroom in embarrassment.
She couldn't believe she was just about to—
Get a hold of yourself, Odessa.
How are you going to give him an heir if you keep acting like a child?
Never mind that she had other important things to worry about.
She was going to get her a*s kicked by whoever was training her.
That was for sure.
Again.
Odessa, who was massaging her sore bum, was getting agitated.
She knew she had signed up for this, but she was already considering backing out.
Sawyer, one of Blood Moon's top warriors, stared down at his Luna in patience, waiting for her to get up.
He was the one whom the Alpha assigned to train her.
And Odessa couldn't deny that he was a good teacher, but she was frustrated with herself.
Ever since they started, she had landed on her a*s more times than she could count.
Her goal was to get a hit on him.
But every time she was close enough, he would swipe her off her feet, making her lose balance, hence kissing the floor.
How long do we have to keep doing this?
She groaned in annoyance, making the young warrior chuckle.
For as long as possible, Luna.
He bowed.
And why was he so freaking polite?
If he was an a*s like Alaric, it would be so easy to give up.
She got in position again and still ended up landing on the ground.
This went on for the whole week.
She never managed to land a hit on him like she was tasked.
But the failure motivated her and her wolf.
The Alpha was occupied with the progressing plans of their ambush.
So he was always in his office or out of pack grounds, giving her time to herself.
She had been put on a diet by Sawyer to build up some muscles.
So her schedule was to wake up.
Workout, eat, train, eat, and spend time with Claudia in the kitchens as they baked and talked.
Claudia was growing on her.
She was nice and valued family and companionship.
She said she couldn't stand seeing someone lonely and depressed, so she would always try her best to cheer them up.
She spoke like a true Luna.
Odessa wondered if she could learn a thing or two from her.
Apart from training, there wasn't anything exciting happening in Odessa's life.
She hadn't gone back to the library to investigate more on her findings because she didn't have time, and Alaric hadn't bothered her either.
Well, that wasn't completely true.
She had been avoiding him like the plague.
Anytime she saw him, she would take another route like her a*s was on fire.
But she had a feeling he was going to seek her out one of these days.
So on the second week of her training, after sparring with Sawyer and still getting her a*s kicked.
She decided she was going to take a break.
When he walked in, Alaric waltzed in like he owned the place.
His eyes searched until they landed on her.
He smirked mischievously when she gave him a deadly glare and approached them.
Sawyer, I'll be taking over the Luna's training today.
Alpha's orders.
Sawyer looked confused.
He was very sure the Alpha put him in charge of the Luna's training.
So he didn't understand what the Delta was saying.
But I thought—
Keep your thoughts to yourself, warrior.
Don't question me.
Alaric spat out with venom.
Odessa knew what he was doing.
She didn't want Sawyer crossing paths with the Delta.
So when he looked at her for confirmation.
She nodded and told him it was okay and she would handle it.
When the warrior left the training hall, she turned to Alaric and asked cautiously.
What do you want?
