What do you want? Why are you avoiding me?Luna.
He countered, but the way he said the word, Luna sounded mocking, as if she didn't deserve the title.
I am not avoiding you.
He walked away from her towards the weapons hanging from the wall on the other side of the room. He picked up two bo staffs, walked back to where she was standing and handed her one.
That's not what it seemed like. Every time I catch sight of you, it's like you intentionally slip away so I can't find you.
So I didn't deny it.
Instead, blocking the powerful strike he sent her way with the staff.
The hit sent vibrations through her body. She knew she had gained muscle, and her body was more agile than before. But she also couldn't deny Alaric's strength.
And he also struck without warning. He was playing dirty.
He sent another strike, this time faster. She didn't have time to block it, and the hit landed on her side, knocking the breath out of her.
What is he doing? Is he trying to kill us? Aria growled.
I don't know, but I don't like it.
Odessa kept her eyes on Alaric while she quickly stood up so he wouldn't hit her again.
Alaric kept on striking, each strike faster and harder than the last, as if he was trying to harm her.
Alaric stop.
Odessa pleaded, trying to keep up, but failing, she took hits to her back, her arm, her side, and even her gut.
Why should I stop?
Alaric had a mischievous smirk on his serious face. He looked serious, and it was hard for Odessa to guess what he wanted.
Hit.
I thought you had been training for the past week.
Hit.
Seems that pup wasn't teaching you anything.
Hit.
Maybe I should tell the alpha that he's slacking.
And you're not learning anything, so he will put me in charge of your training instead.
Hit.
Odessa couldn't take it anymore.
Her whole body hurt like hell.
Her wolf was agitated and roaring in anger.
In her mind, she felt pathetic, stupid and useless, just standing there, taking hit after hit to her body.
He was still talking, but she couldn't hear him.
Her ears were ringing, and she felt like she was underwater.
Suddenly, her hands clenched on her bo staff as she felt something c***k in her soul and seep through.
It was only a little gush like a flowing river, but she felt a surge of power, rage and anger building up.
It spread all over her like wildfire.
And she let out a loud growl, swinging her staff back over her shoulder and right at Alaric, hitting her target.
His eyes widened in shock as he was sent flying back through the air.
His staff broke in half.
By the force of the hit, he landed on the opposite wall with a deafening thud, falling unconscious on the ground.
The surge of power Odessa had felt disappeared.
Immediately after it came, taking all her energy with it, she collapsed to the ground, letting the darkness cover her like a warm blanket.
What do you mean? You found them both unconscious?
Alpha Desmond whispered, yelling at the young warrior and ordering the others not to wake up his sleeping mate.
He couldn't believe what he was being told.
But the sight of the scene proved it was true.
Yes, Alpha, I had left Luna and Delta Alaric in the training hall because he said he was going to take over her training.
The Alpha couldn't believe his ears.
By whose orders? he demanded.
His face twisted in anger.
Sawyer's eyes widened at the alpha's change in expression.
By yours, Alpha, he stuttered out.
The Alpha snatched him by the throat.
Immediately? Mine? he growled.
When did I give that order?
He asked, squeezing the poor boy's throat, his wolf threatening to lash out.
It was Delta Alaric again.
Des, a weak voice called from the bed, drawing his attention.
So I immediately ran from the room, not needing to be told twice.
I'm here, love.
I'm here.
He crouched by the side of the bed, holding onto her palm and kissing it.
What happened? I feel so tired.
Her throat felt parched and dehydrated.
The alpha noticed and brought cool water to her lips.
She drank the refreshing water earnestly, thanking him with a smile.
The raging headache she felt slowly gave way as her eyes met the questioning look of Desmond.
Can you remember anything?
Desmond asked her softly, tightening his hold on her hand.
Her mind was suddenly bombarded with images of what happened with Alaric.
And how she lashed out.
But then everything went dark.
She decided to feign ignorance and told Desmond she couldn't remember anything that happened after Sawyer left.
But she did remember vividly.
She was very confused.
What happened to her?
Where did such strength come from?
She reasoned, as she tried to find it again.
But this time, she was empty.
That surge of power was no longer there, but she could still feel its presence lingering, as if blocked by an unknown force.
Similar to the mate bond.
You're sure you don't remember?
Desmond enquired again, and she nodded earnestly, biting her lip.
She hoped he wouldn't figure out she was lying.
That would be the worst betrayal ever.
Okay, then let's get some sleep, love.
You need to eat something first, though you look drained.
Desmond walked to the kitchen and came back with a plate of fruit.
Okay, Odessa agreed.
He fed her some fruit he had cut up in the kitchen, and they went to bed.
But Odessa couldn't sleep.
Her mind kept replaying what happened in the training hall.
She decided tomorrow she was going to go back to that old library, and she would find that damp book.
