“You seem a little too flustered there.”
She said, looking at her husband, who was adjusting his trousers as he approached her.
Beta George looked at his wife with half-hearted interest, seemingly unimpressed in front of the Luna.
Why not?
He mused, sitting down close to her.
He couldn't shake the memory of the look on Odessa's face, and he could swear she knew he had just had a good time with his wife.
He tried to push the thought away as unwarranted guilt.
After all, the person in question was his wife, not some random lady, or an act of infidelity to be ashamed of.
Claudia looked at him, her eyes filled with curiosity.
“Aren't you worried you're here and the Alpha is left handling pack duties alone instead of you being by his side?”
She tried to redirect the matter, fixing her hair and scattered clothes due to their episode.
She smiled at the experience.
She could never get tired of her mate.
George squeezed his face deep in thought.
She was right.
He was supposed to be with Alpha Desmond, but not for business purposes.
George looked at his wife, trying not to expose the secrets he had longed to keep from her.
Desmond wasn't out with Delta Xavier due to a packed business schedule.
Instead, he found himself taken to a private pack mansion where his bloodlust could be controlled and kept secret.
The Alpha's secret was known only to him and Xavier, and it had been tough.
Because they didn't have a solution to his bloodlust.
George felt pity for the Alpha's wife, Odessa, and possibly their future child if they ever had one.
It would be difficult, especially if he lost control when he was alone with his family.
Claudia looked at her husband, noticing his conflicted expression.
She became worried.
“What is it, George?”
She narrowed her gaze to detect lies.
“It's nothing.”
He shook his head while throwing her a charming smile.
“Just thinking of something.”
Claudia looked knowingly at her mate.
“Something about Alpha Desmond's bloodlust?”
The atmosphere became tense.
As George's body stilled, he was utterly shocked.
“What?”
He stammered, shock evident in his tone.
How did she know about the Alpha's secret?
It was kept confidential to only two members, him and Delta Xavier.
“How did you know?”
Claudia's eyes narrowed.
“I've known for quite some time now. With your usual disappearances and secretly being with the Alpha, I did a little investigation and found out.”
“I've been watching closely, George.”
George's expression changed, his tone pleading.
“You must tell no one about this. It's the pack's top secret that should follow anyone aware of it to his or her grave.”
Claudia's gaze remained intense, but her voice was gentle.
“Why keep it a secret then? Why hide it from me?”
Beta George's expression softened, and he moved closer to Claudia.
“It's because it was a sacred secret. The Alpha made me swear not to expose it to anyone.”
“And you understand how much my loyalty is to the Alpha.”
He continued.
“The Alpha's bloodlust has been a challenge, and it only grows more every day. I fear we can't stop it, and it will eventually consume the Alpha.”
Claudia could not help but notice how her husband cringed at the mention of bloodlust.
“I wanted to tell you, but I didn't want to burden you with such a secret.”
Her expression softened.
She stretched her hands, touching his face.
“You don't need to protect me. I understand you.”
“Such secrets can be detrimental. We can work together to find how to help the Alpha.”
“That is only with your permission.”
George nodded in agreement.
“You're right. I promise not to keep things away from you again.”
Claudia's face softened, and she reached out to George.
“Of course, my love. I trust you.”
“Now, can you get out and find your Alpha? Go be with him.”
She laughed at his shocked expression.
Beta George walked out of his house, feeling his mind reel over everything.
How would they find a way to cure the Alpha of his bloodlust?
“Is it curable?”
He asked himself, hopeful his wife was right about helping the Alpha.
But doubt still crept in as he thought of the impossibilities.
He walked lost in his reverie when someone suddenly slammed into him, shaking him out of his thoughts.
“Can't you watch where you're going? Are you blind?”
George barked, looking at the disrespectful figure.
The figure only ignored him and continued on its way.
“Hey, are you dumb also that you can't apologize?”
George looked closely at the disappearing figure, trying to see through its hood.
He didn't know this person, nor recognize the scent.
The figure disappeared into the corner.
But not before he saw a glance of bright red hair falling from the hood.
George didn't bother about such a trivial matter and entered his car.
“Just drive,” he asked Mr. Han, the driver.
George's mind was still hung on his wife's words.
Find a way to eliminate the bloodlust.
But how?
That was the hard question.
“Beta, we have arrived.”
Mr. Han informed him.
George opened the rear window, and true to his words, they had finally arrived.
The huge mansion that stood before him was almost as if someone hadn't lived there for decades.
The walls looked like they would fall apart at any moment.
From the outside, it looked like an abandoned house.
But the inside was beautiful, filled with the most expensive ornaments and intricate designs.
With careful, heavy steps, he walked into the house.
His mind reeled to see his Alpha in such a condition.
Immediately he stepped into the mansion.
A loud crash resonated throughout the mansion, making George pause.
The crash was followed by a deep, fearsome growl.
“Beta George!”
He quickly looked up, his eyes trained on the flight of stairs heading upwards.
Immediately, George ran upward, wasting no time on any stairs.
As he used his werewolf speed, he pushed open the door and came across a gruesome scene.
“Alpha!”
He shouted, his voice filled with fear.
