"What's going on here?"
Odessa felt her body go cold, and her heart raced as she stood frozen, staring at the cold eyes of Desmond.
Her small fist was still clenched and ready to strike a punch at Alaric.
Even Alaric's body froze in shock as he stood still, no longer the confident man he was a few seconds ago.
"Um, I..."
She had to think fast.
She had to find a tangible reason for a man whom she was not married to, most of all, the new Delta.
Odessa stood there.
No matter how much she wanted to think, no tangible response was coming to her head.
Alaric coughed, freeing her from his hold.
"It's nothing, my Alpha."
He hesitantly smiled.
"Just going for a walk and stumbled here."
Alpha Desmond narrowed his eyes, his gaze not even on Alaric.
Instead, it focused on Alaric's hand wrapped around Odessa's waist and their proximity.
"Yes."
Odessa added, pushing Alaric away from her.
He got sidestepped.
"I'm just trying to show him the way out."
She lied.
Desmond's eyes were still narrowed.
"I see."
His voice was extremely low, but heavy with sarcasm and built-in anger.
"And to show him the way out, he is holding your waist? Is that a way to respect your Luna?"
"Oh no, my Alpha."
Alaric laughed.
"It's not what it looks like."
"And don't you know this chamber is restricted to only me and the Luna?"
Desmond's attitude became cold.
No more hint of sarcasm in his voice.
"Get out now, Delta."
He growled.
Alaric quickly nodded.
"As you wish, Alpha."
He bowed, walking away and out of the chambers.
But not before throwing Odessa a wink.
Odessa and Desmond stood alone in the room.
Their attention heavy with tension.
"I know you don't feel the mate bond as I do, but that doesn't mean you have to meet any pack members in my house."
Desmond tried to control his growl as he took deep breaths.
Odessa felt a shiver run down her spine as she met the angry gaze of Desmond.
He doesn't understand.
She would never betray him.
She wanted to talk, but Desmond beat her to it.
"You are my wife and Luna. You are never to be with anyone except me. Do I make myself clear?"
No.
He's misunderstanding all of this.
"No, my husband."
Odessa's voice was gentle and worried.
"Nothing happened, I swear. I don't know why, but Alaric was simply being friendly."
"Friendly?"
Desmond's brows raised as he repeated, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
Odessa stood before him, unable to utter a single word.
She knew she was a fool to let Alaric come close to her.
It was foolish.
But she didn't know how to escape him with her weak strength.
"I would never betray you, Desmond. Not now. Not ever."
She finally let out, dropping her head.
Desmond looked at her sincere expression.
He believed her.
But that Delta shall pay for this.
No one is supposed to be close to Odessa except him.
"Let's take off his head."
Des growled, unable to contain his anger.
"Calm down, Des. That Delta will surely suffer. I have a plan."
Desmond tried to calm his angry wolf.
"If we act rashly, we might fall into the bloodlust state."
Des calmed down at this.
"Desmond."
Odessa held his chin, her eyes sincere and kind.
"Believe me."
Desmond's expression softened.
His eyes warming slightly.
"Oh, Odessa."
He said, his voice gentle.
"I believe you. But I don't want you to go close to Alaric again."
Odessa nodded, hugging him tight.
"Let's go to bed."
Desmond nodded, letting her lead him back to the bedroom.
But Odessa was still not at ease.
The figure of Alaric was bringing more problems than he was worth.
Odessa couldn't figure out if his presence was a threat to not just her marriage, but the whole pack.
They lay in their bed, but Odessa couldn't shake off the feeling.
Everything seemed off ever since Alaric saved her.
And also, since Desmond returned, she had been feeling this way.
It was a bad idea getting close to Alaric.
She would thank him for saving her life and warn him never to come close to her except if it concerned pack duties.
Odessa turned to her husband and noticed him sleeping.
Why did he appoint Xavier's son as the new Delta?
Where was former Delta Xavier?
Odessa pushed all these thoughts away from her head and focused on sleeping.
Seconds before she could fall into the sweet embrace of sleep, she heard a faint whisper in her ears.
"Bella, meet me at the Moonlit Glade Library. Quick. Come alone."
Immediately, she stood up from her bed, looking around for the culprit who whispered.
But no one was in sight.
The wind blew into the open window, making her shiver.
"What was that?"
She questioned.
No one answered.
Odessa wanted to find out what was happening.
Maybe it might answer her questions.
She put on some robes and sneaked out of the Pack House, careful not to wake up Desmond.
It was still dark and chilly as she flashed her lamp for guidance, making her way to the old library.
Immediately she arrived, she turned the torch around, looking for any clue.
Someone?
Anyone?
Or was it her thoughts that ran wild and she thought someone was calling her?
"I want to show you something."
A voice whispered close to her ear, making her jump in fright.
She immediately threw a punch towards the person, but it was blocked.
Alaric stood there, looking at her as the moonlight gleamed in his eyes like polished onyx and a smirk played at the corners of his lips.
"Feisty Bella. I like it."
He whispered.
"Alaric!"
Her eyes opened wide.
"What in the Goddess's name are you doing here?"
Odessa's mind raced with thoughts.
What was he doing here in the middle of the night?
"I called you here. That's why I'm here."
He replied casually, walking around her.
Odessa narrowed her eyes.
"I would have known I shouldn't even be here. Goodbye, Alaric."
She turned, prepared to walk away from him.
"Wait!"
His rushed voice stopped her.
"I didn't call you here for my pleasure."
He walked closer to her.
"I want to show you something."
Odessa stood watching his every move.
What did he want to show her?
Why was he being extremely secretive?
"I'm not interested, Alaric. Don't ever call me again, or you'll be banished from this pack."
Odessa warned.
She wanted nothing to do with him.
But still, part of her was curious.
"Don't you want to know the truth?"
Alaric said.
