I got home from the library in an hour, taking my sweet time wandering around the park and town square. My mother and her friends were out in the backyard. I could hear their chattering and laughs inside the house. Most of the pack members must be out with our Beta for training in the woods near our pack house.
I was about to climb up the stairs thinking of a way I could convince my parents to let me work. I could talk to Father directly… No, no that’s stupid. He is more of an Alpha than my father and he never fails to use his Alpha command to shut me out each time I go to him for any help.
“Calista, is that you?” My mother’s voice entered the hallway calling out to me.
“Yes, mother.”
“Come out here.” She commanded me. My feet carried me out to the backyard.
