Arranged Marriage

Chapter 8

THE man left in front of them.

Their gaze followed him walking away from the living room, up to the stairs.

"Am I being too obvious?" she asked Liza. She felt both of her cheeks heat up with embarrassment, she thought he couldn't see her eyes under the eyeglasses she was wearing.

"Of course not," Liza replied with a laugh. "You were just caught looking at his 'bird'." Liza chuckled.

"Eeeehhh it's so embarrassing," Shan Shai covered her mouth with her hand.

Liza burst out laughing. "Look's like you're going to enjoy here, my friend. You're enviable promise!" Liza seemed to be tickled when she spoke. She clung tightly to one of Shan Shai's arms.

"Liza, do you think I can clean this big house? And take note, it looks like I'm the only maid in this house,"

"He's so handsome and macho, oh, I liked his abs!" this is Liza's answer. Her friend seems to be losing herself.

Using her index finger, she pressed it to Liza's forehead and pushed it slightly. "Your answer is far from my question,"

Liza scratched her neck. "What's your question?"

"My question is, will I be able to clean this big house? It looks like I'm the only one doing the housework."

"Oh, maybe you can't, I'll ask Lee Min later if there's another maid here." There was concern in her friend's voice.

THE two women sitting on the sofa seem to be busy talking. Lee Min approached them without even noticing.

"She's the only one who will be my maid," Lee Min said because he heard what Liza said.

"Are you serious?" Shan Shai asked, she couldn't believe it, the house was big and she was the only maid.

Lee Min sat seriously on a sofa in front of them.

"Yes," he replied with a smile.

She turned her head to Liza. Now she just wants to back out!

"Don't worry every Sunday, someone comes here to do general cleaning of the house and also washes my laundry." Lee Min added.

Shan Shai breathed a sigh of relief because of what he said.

"And you, all you have to do is clean up just to maintain the cleanliness of the whole house. Sweep, broom, mop, and of course including cooking."

"Oh friend, you can do that, you love to cook, don't you?" Liza tapped her on the shoulder.

Shan Shai nodded. She probably wouldn't have a hard time with housework if someone came to that house every week for general cleaning.

"How much will my friend's salary be?" Liza asked.

"Is ten thousand a month enough?" Lee Min replied.

Shan Shai was stunned when she heard what he said. It seems that she will earn a high salary per month, while their maids in the house are only six thousand a month. Not that bad, hehe! in her mind.

"Why is my salary so high?" Shan Shai asked him curiously.

"Ah because that's how it is," Lee Min began, he stretched his leg before continuing what he was going to say. "I still live with my parents, I rarely stay here in my house. I looked for a maid to stay here so that my house doesn't look like a haunted house."

"Haunted house!" Shan Shai exclaimed. "Are you scaring me?"

"Just a joke, are you scared?" Lee Min asked her with a laugh.

She answered with a fake laugh. "That's why my salary is so high. Because besides being a maid, I'll also be a guard."

Liza pulled the end of her hair and whispered something. "I thought you liked this job?"

"Ten thousand pesos, isn't that enough? I'll add more,"

She didn't say anything, not because she didn't like her job. But she still wanted to think carefully if she could be alone in such a big house.

"If you don't want to, I'll just look for another-"

"Sssssh!" Shan Shai immediately stopped what he was going to say. "Of course I agree, ten thousand pesos salary is enough for me. As long as I always have stock of food in the refrigerator, so that when I'm bored, I will eat."

"Okay deal!" Lee Min replied. "But from now, on I'll be home for a whole week."

Shan Shai secretly smiled. She will be with her boss for a whole week.

The woman's meaningful smile did not escape Lee Min's sight. "Why are you smiling like that?"

"Nothing Sir, I just remembered a funny movie." Shan Shai's lie.

"I'll keep an eye on your work during the week I stay here at my house. I'll check on the cleaning you'll do."

Her mouth twitched at what he said. It just means when he didn’t like her cleaning, any time she could be replaced, it's a pity.

"Can I visit her here, at least once?" Liza asked him.

"Of course. It's also good that you can visit her, especially when I'm not here."

In fairness, her boss has a hidden kindness.

"Later we'll talk about my rules here in the house,"

Her thick eyebrow automatically raised because of what she heard. Think about it, he was the one who said that he rarely stays in that house, and now there are rules. Wow! her boss was also abusive.

She was about to answer when Liza suddenly covered her mouth.

"Don't complain, your boss is so handsome. Besides, he looks kind!" Liza whispered to her.

She shrugged but didn't say a word. If she didn't really need the job, she would back out.

Again, she remembered her father. Surely her dad is irritated with anger because of her running away and her refusal to agree to the arranged marriage that he wants.

Hmmmm... it would be good for her to imprint the word 'Arranged Marriage' in her mind so that she could do her job as a maid.

Liza did not stay long at her boss's house. She walked with her friend all the way to the outside of the gate. They hugged several times as if they didn't want to let go of each other.

"Be careful here, when you need something, just message me or call me." Said Liza.
