The door open just as Ruby wanted to grab the knob and she is startled by Ryder who has been wondering about her whereabout. He has sent a worker to send Logan's sportswear to him but was surprised when he heard that she has taken it upon herself to go instead.
"Oh, I was getting worried" he breathed out and Ruby force out a gentle smile.
Ryder move aside so she could get inside, he notice the restraint in her smile and try to conceal his anger at whatever nonsense Logan has pulled again.
He believe Ruby has gone to his school to deliver the clothes because she wanted to get acquainted with him after the way Logan treated her this morning at breakfast.
He is also surprised to see him act rude and cold towards Ruby, he thought that he liked her and talked about her when he arrived back from Greenwood pack.
Deciding to address the matter, he walk back into the house to find Logan who has come back from school few minutes after Ruby comes in.
"What's with the attitude?" He questioned as he walked in to his room not knocking.
Logan glance slightly towards him, looking confused at his words not sure what he is talking about about.
He look back at the game and pause it seeing that Ryder isn't look pleased.
"What?" His voice came a bit hoarse.
"You know you might dislike her but she is going to be my Luna soon" Ryder said and Logan's face wallow seeing it's about her.
"I know that" he said feeling irritated to talk about it but Ryder isn't finished.
"So whatever bitterness I assume you bear towards her, swallow it up" he said and glare at him to make sure his words have the effect he wanted.
Logan hesitate for a bit but he finally nod and Ryder walk out of his room. Not long after he left, Logan throw the game pad in his hands to the wall smashing it up.
He run his hands through his dirty blonde hair and heaves heavily feeling suffocated in his anger.
Damn prophecy! He cussed inwardly and stare at the door.
Pete watch Ruby drain his second glass of wine and look at her worried, he knows all these was rushed on her and she isn't looking her best.
He thought last night together with Ryder must have solve it but it seem he is wrong.
"Care to share?" He asked and grab the glass from her refusing to pour again.
"What?" Ruby shouldered pretending not to know what he is talking about.
"Come on spill Rubies, I know something is bothering you" he stated and she sighs turning her face away.
How can she explain that she is drowning in the guilt of sleeping with her brother-in-law whom she still finds temptingly attractive by the way
And because of this guilt, she is afraid to get close to her supposed fiance because she just couldn't bear to do such evil.
Of course she can't, so she decided to pivot.
"Just need some air from all of these, Betty wanted me to come out tonight for fun but I told her I can't" she stated and Pete frown his face as the mention of the name.
"Why are you still friends with her? She is a bad influence" his face squirmed more.
Ruby chuckle a bit seeing the disgusted look on Pete's face, he never did like Betty, her college roommate.
She is about to reply him on it when Ryder walk into the room and Ruby quickly withdraw in. She give him a brief look and grab the glass from Pete to pour the drink..
Pete frown his face not sure why she is trying to get herself drunk and stop her from drowning it all down at once.
"Hi" Ryder stand beside him, his hands resting playfully inside his pocket.
"Hi" Ruby replied more awkwardly that Pete could not help but notice.
"I will leave you two then, I don't want to be a third party to the new lovebirds" he teased and walk out with Ruby's eyes calling pleadingly to him and slowly switch to annoyance for leaving her alone.
"You are uncomfortable with me" Ryder observed.
He knows that she has been trying to avoid him all day and always find an excuse to get away whenever he shows up.
"I'm not" Ruby chuckle nervously looking at him for a second before turning back to the glass.
"It's okay, I am a very patient man" he said, his blue eyes resting on her.
Ruby shift a bit on her seat, the weight of his stares settled upon her, making her skin prickled with awareness.
She is force to turn her head slowly to him and looking into his steel blue eyes, She felt stripped bare, her defenses crumbling beneath the weight of his scrutiny.
Ruby feels unable to look away and her heart beat fast unable to understand what is happening, her fear become visible on her forehead as it squeezes in discomfort.
"umph" she finally managed a muffled word out and Ryder smile finding her cute right there.
He reach out his hand to touch her face when Logan walk into the room and Ruby coil back while Ryder turn to him.
"I felt he owe you an apology" Ryder said turning back to Ruby as Logan gets close.
What? Ruby scream in her head. She is the one who should be apologizing and begging him at the sane time to keep his lips shut tight.
"There is really no need for that" Ruby quickly burst out getting up from her seat fast.
"You see, she said she doesn't want it" Logan replied not sparing her a glance.
Ryder throw him a deadly glare that even Ruby feels a bit terrified of him in that moment and Logan bite his lips to hide his anger at being forced to make an apology.
"I'm fine really, please don't" she told Ryder who look at her to be sure.
He take a breathe out and decide to apologize on his brother's behalf.
"I promise you, he will behave better with you" he said and Ruby nod, stealing a glance at Logan
But she gets lock into his gaze instead and hurry to look away rubbing the back of her neck a bit roughly.
Logan make for his room walking upstairs with his face in a scowl and hear Ruby's voice from behind him.
"Hey" she called but he refused to answer and continue walking.
Ruby rush to meet up with him and grab his arm but he grab her hand instead attempting to push her off.
He is caught off guard when Ruby twirl around and push him back instead, gripping his arm firmly with a hard face.
"You know I'm older right" she blurt a bit upset at his attitude.
With the way he is going at it, everyone would soon discover what happened between them.
Logan grunt peeved and grab her by the throat, he pushed her to the wall slamming her back on to it and Ruby gasps astonished at his action.
"Don't ever underestimate me because I'm younger" he warned stonily.
Ruby let out fast breathes as she gaze at him surprise at his strength and they both stare into each other's eyes for a good moment.
