Raven Blackwell My heart panicked. It raced and so did I. Quickly, I ran out. The very last thing I wanted was a relationship or anything that would lead me back to his arms. Last night I was good. The feeling was great. It was all great but I just couldn't. I was still recovering from Michael. Whatever I had last night was a huge mistake that should not have happened. Immediately I got out of the bar, I waited by the corner of the Mechanic shop. Finally, the dawn came. The mechanic opened up his shop and looked at me suspiciously once his eyes fell on me. " I hope you had a good night's rest?" I wanted to answer his question truthfully and honestly. But when the flashbacks of the previous night hit me. I couldn't help but smile. "I sure did" I said as he pulled out my motorcycle. " the gears were weak but I fixed it up for you" " thank you" I said as I dragged the bike to the front and checked the back to see if my dad's ashes were still there. "If you're checking to see if the ashes are there I didn't touch them" The mechanic spoke up. I didn't even know what to say or feel. Should I have been angry? Should I have lashed out? "Okay" That was all I said. I felt like my privacy had been tempered with. But I guess those are part of his job. "So you're his daughter" The first question that fluttered in my mind was how did he know? "I don't know where you're talking about" I said as I removed some cash from my wallet handing it over to him. " you can keep it, your dad was important to us and so are you" "No I insist" He just ignored me and turned back to setting up shop for the day. I put the money back in my wallet. I checked my phone to see if I had service but there wasn't any. I climbed my bike and put my helmet on as I fired the engine of the motorcycle. Just as I was about to ride off, I heard the mechanic's voice behind me. "If you're looking for the beach, it's on the south" I wanted to ask him how he knew where I was going? With being said, he wanted his ashes scattered on the beach at night. "It's going to be a long journey so it's best you carry somebody along" But then I didn't need anybody, I never really did. What was that I was going to be scared of at the beach? Water? Sand? "I'm good on my own. Thank you for the advice though, it definitely came in handy" I said as I rode off. **** Everything that happened last night kept playing in my head. Who was he? I didn't even get the name. I couldn't stop thinking about it and the embarrassment and shame wouldn't let me stop thinking about it. After I spread my father's ashes. I was going to leave this town. There was nothing holding me back. That was a promise I'd made to myself. Where was I going to go though? That was a question for myself. Finally, I found the beach, the sun had just finished setting and the Moon was out. The lights looked calm, the waves were not wild, everything was perfect. Just as I found the vast land of sand with water, I noticed that there was a small altar by the entrance. It looked ancient with engraved symbolic markings on it. I paid no attention to it and carried my dad's ashes that I had locked in a bottle. I placed his picture beside me. I couldn't help but cry. The tears fell down my cheeks. "So this is it old man, this is it" But I didn't have the heart to open the bottle. As I was about to spread of his ashes that was when the shocking realization hit me. This was the very last memory I had of my dad. I was finally letting him go and accepting his death. I was setting him free. I poured the ashes and watched them fly into the air landing either on the sand or the water. It almost looked perfect, it almost seemed like my dad was standing next to me. Then, I felt that all my obligations to him as his daughter were completed. When I turned around, the altar was still there....however on a second look, there was something weird about it. It was then I noticed that the urn on it was about falling off. If my memory was right, when I first came that's not how it was. As I tried to put it back in order, the edge of it sliced the corner of my palm. "s**t" I cussed out quickly as the pain was sharp. Without looking I noticed droplets of blood, my blood specifically dripping on the ground. I look, and I see that it also dripped on a silver looking object. That was when the ground started shaking almost as if an earthquake was about to erupt. I could see the sand particles on the beach, Shake. Immediately fear filled up my body. Just then, something begins to pull me from inside. Almost like a powerful surge. I feel my blood begin to boil. I can see my veins popping out of my hand. I fall to the ground as I yell. "What is happening to me?" Everything feels vague and foggy. I can't even get a clear vision because my eyes are blurry. I turn and then it feels like something is exploding inside me. Then all of a sudden, I began to perceive blood like I've never perceived it before. I tried to get up and leave but that was when the strangest thing happened to me. Out of nowhere men came in front of me. "Who are you?" I questioned in a faint voice as I lay on the ground. I could barely recognize their faces. But they didn't answer me, they just stood there looking at me. "Who's she?" One of them asked. "I don't but we'll have to take her to the council, it seems her presence has caused trouble.”
