Jude stepped out of the car and headed upstairs with gusto.
''Jude, I wasn't expecting you today. Is everything okay?'' Mrs Lawson asked him on his way upstairs to meet his father.
Jude was surprised to hear his mother say that she didn't know he was coming home. After the way his father sounded over the phone, one would think that he had discussed Jude with Mrs. Lawson first before calling him.
''Dad sent for me,'' Jude said and stopped to hug his mother, and then continued walking up the stairs.
''Oh, for crying out loud, why won't this man let you be,'' Jude's mother whined as she watched her son ascend the stairs to his father's room.
