While Agnes was still on the phone with Jason, Jude started to call her.
He called, and the feedback from Agnes' line said to Jude with an automated voice.
''Your call is waiting!''
Jude removed the phone from his ear and stared at it, upset because he knew what was happening.
Agnes was on the phone with Jason. There was no way anybody would explain otherwise to Jude that it was not Jason that was on the phone with Agnes.
Agnes' phone beeped from the other end, to indicate to her that she had a call waiting, and when she looked at the phone to see the person that was waiting to speak with her, her heart leaped.
Of course, she knew her Jude Lawson by now.
He would suspect her and ask her pressurizing questions as soon as he got to speak with her.
