Mabel was at Jude Lawson's house, laughing at the text message she had just received from a friend of hers. It was slowly spreading across the city that Jude was married with a child to his name.
Mabel could not believe it.
She thought of telling her father about what she had found out, but she was stuck because she had not heard from Jude yet.
For all she cared, it could be a misconception, but she knew that at least a bit of it was true. Maybe there was no child yet, but Jude having a lady by his side apart from her had to be true.
After all, he hardly came home.
