The physician tended to Koragi’s injuries and led them to a pair of bedrooms with a washroom in between. He then left them alone in the hallway, bidding them a good night. Koragi brushed her fingers over the bandages on her arm, lost in thought. She was refreshed after her bath in the medical wing, but her body still ached and her arm stung beneath the physician’s salves.
Exhausted, she turned to the door. She longed for the peace of sleep and the warmth of a soft bed. But Tebanis touched her shoulder and she paused, looking back at him. He studied her face intently, lifting a gloved hand to touch her chin. Her stomach fluttered at the touch and she turned more toward him, now wide awake and unable to look away from him.
